I saw a 991.1 last week and noticed the faded out calipers. Low mileage so I thought possibly it was tracked. Your video explains why it looked the way it did and an easy way for the owner to make it look great. Thanks for posting!
Great job. They are 100% better than factory. One thing I noticed, when you put the wheels back on the car you started by putting the lug bolt in the driver and powering them on the wheel. It would be a lot safer to hand start them and then use the power driver. God forbid you cross thread the bolts and screw up your bolts and hub threads. Just a thought. Keep up the good eork.
Welp, guess i can use the phrase, ‘fun as watching paint dry’ any more. Excellent video James! Super detailed and well edited. Your wheels look great with the painted calipers.
Previous owner painted the calipers red on my grey Carrera, and I'm going for gloss black after seeing them on a GT3 car. Red is soo overdone these days!
Splendid as always James! Done this a few times I can tell ya. What next you ask? 🤔🤔 Ducktail spoiler!!!!!!! My 991 is Agate grey also, I’m very keen to see your test mule adorned with one 😂
Fun video to watch and the calipers look great, but... I think red would REALLY pop on that car. I say who cares if they're not factory S brakes. It's your car, you can do whatever you want. How did you manage to get the decals so straight and centered?
Thanks so much!! It was a really fun DIY job to do. For the decals, I used masking tape and measurements to do the first but I ended up just eye-balling the others. Thankfully they came out well. :)
I will do eventually, yes. The car isn't on the road at the moment because my steering wheel is getting refurbished in Texas. Now's a good time to do that I guess! Thanks!
Great video James!!!. Next Projects: - Illuminated door sill install, I know you did the carbon fiber ones but I remember you mentioned the illuminated look cool too. I don't see a step-by-step video in YT for that and a 911. - Lowering the Springs?
I completely agree with you James regarding the choice of gloss black, even though red would also have suited your car well. A great job on your callipers. They do look superb. What kind of lift do you use? It looks like they rise a lot higher than the Quickjack BL5000 I am considering.
Ok, Give up the details dude...LOL I went to G2USA's site and found the color matched kits for my Porsche 911, but no where does it indicate it comes with the Porsche decal. Where did you get that? I am excited to do this with my car. Hit me back.
Hey James, looks good! Do you think your first coat went on a little a too thick hence why you didn’t need a 3rd coat? And btw, did you remove your spacers? Yessss to front sport design bumper!!! 👍
Hahah. I love the enthusiasm about the sports bumper! :-) I didn't remove my spacers, they're still on there. You could be right about the first coat being too thick.
@@AutoAmateur haha. I just did the techart upgrade but initially wanted the sport design bumper and ducktail, but unfortunately they were sold out and they didn’t have a timeline for me when I was looking. Hope you can get your hands on one.
So I guess I must have missed a video/update? Somewhere between doing the video on installing the backup camera on Kosko's classic 911 and painting your calipers ... what happened to the 996?? 🤷♂️
Wow - nice work! I’ve been considering putting red on my black 996 calipers. They look “fine” as-is, but I have black wheels. I think red might look good behind the wheels. Now that it’s been a few months, how’s the finish holding up?
Depends on the color of your interior, but a white car gives you lots of options. I would consider white calipers (!) with black PORSCHE decals, or something like a Miami Blue. Or how about something like a deep metallic purple?
i would gladly trade my very nice Porsche Black Calipers for some very nice Porsche Red Calipers. My 996 is triple Black w/ Red Stripes. I live in Athens, Ga. Home of the GA Bulldogs! We bleed Red and Black. Therefore, my colors choice for my Porsche. If anyone knows of a set, please let me know. Many Thanks in advance~~.
It's a mid-rise scissor lift. Hydraulic with mechanical safety locking. You can find them from a number of different places. Toolots (mine), BendPak and Twin Busche. I get about 4 foot of ground clearance to the underside of the car. I really like it!
Wow, wow, hang on a minute. Is no one going to mention the elephant 🐘 in the room?? I watched this video and the previous video, but no mention of where the 996 has gone?
Looks great James...so simple....brilliant!
Thank you Camille!! 🙌
Appreciate the shout out!
Of course!! Appreciate you testing this kit out on your 911 first. 🤣👍
Patience is a virtue! Sets those alloys off nicely James
Cheers mate!

black makes it look super clean, unlike the colorful ones! Nice job👍

Hahaha. Maybe!
Love the mod James! You said you were missing the 996, I may have missed a video, what has happened to the project 996 car? Did the group sell it off?
No, it's still here. Sitting quietly on the other side of the garage, looking pretty but still not running.
Great job James. 👍
Cheers Craig!!
Nice Job James! Suggestion: LED bulbs in footwell, glovebox and frunk- blue looks great in my blue Porsche BTW
Good idea!!
Great job. I even watched the paint dry.
Hahaha. Who ever said watching paint dry isn't fun?! :)
WOO, hold the front page, where's the 996. what have I missed?
@Yorkiepoocharlie but it had disappeared !!!

hi Are you going to clean up and paint the Hubs, that rearly finish the job off. keep up the good work.

I agree. All the masking and covering is more tedious than taking the whole thing off.
Love the intro!!! Tuned in but already over :/
Thanks Katie! xo
Good Job
Thanks!!
Good job 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Brilliant job. Can’t believe that Porsche produce 911’s without painted callipers.
I know!!!

Thanks Bob! My lift is a scissor lift from Toolots, similar to the Twin Busch product. They rise up around 48 inches.
awesome job !
Where can I get the PORSCHE sticker ?
Here: snapdecal.com
p.s. THANKS! :)
Dang I always thought mine were painted gray but you are right, looking closer I guess they are raw.
Haha. Me too!!
Looks great! how about some coilovers or aero next?
Good suggestions!!!

I have some spare decals if you want them, heat proof for the calipers. Send me a note to contact@autoamateur.com
Hmmm. Might look good on the racing yellow
Definitely!! Drive up here. Let’s do it. 😄
Great music!
Thanks!!

Next upgrade? Maybe compare 19” wheels to 20”s?
Agreed, perhaps Vossen HF2?

Online. Cheeky Chappie Decals.

Online from Cheeky Chappie Decals.
Ducktail
👍
very nice, where did you find the porsche decal stickers?
You need to check out 'Cheeky Chappy Decals' online, from the UK.
We’re the decals in the kit?
No, I bought the decals separately from Cheeky Chappy Decals in the UK.
Looks great. My 911 is white, what color do you think would go with white if I did that modification?
Black and add a black Porsche decal on the side.

Illuminated door sills in carbon fiber!
Oops nm forgot you did that on this one already.
what kind of car jack is that?

Front PDLS lights ? I have always though about these for my 991.1 s
Ohhhh yes. Nice.

@@AutoAmateur thank you!
What if you get a little on the disc? Does that come off? Any downsides since you have had these for a year-ish now?
No downsides and they still look immaculate!! I was really impressed. Any little spots on the discs can easily be removed.
I think GT3 is next. 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤷♂️
where's the 996
Sitting quietly on the other side of the garage, looking pretty but still not running.
Oh also, Where is Nine Eleven South's page. I can't find it either. Did he pull it?
Found it - sorry!
Don't joke like that!! I furiously trawled my UA-cam subscriptions to pull it up and make sure it was still there. Haha. :)
waiting for Nick Murray's reply
🤣🤣🤣👍
No wheel locks on your wheels?
Nah. This isn’t NYC or Liverpool in the 1980s. 🤣👍
