For the older guys like me here, i'd love to see a digital Fujifilm Compact Deluxe - with 36x24mm Sensor, and 35mm F1.7 up to F2 lens, same rangefinder design and aesthetics! Yes, think Fujica. That's my take for a fixed lens compact camera. Call it simply X200, perhaps. 🙂 (edit) fixed typo.
Coming here 5 months late, having just acquired the X100VI and using the Zf for lens choices. I disagree with your views: I find that 40MP with IBIS is a major upgrade and considerably increases cropping flexibility, just like the Q2 or Q3 do for the Leica Q series. I love to be able to crop to, say, 50mm or even 75mm equivalent and still have enough resolution to publish the output. The IBIS brings security against user induced blur as well as another layer of flexibility for low speed shots in quite a few scenarios. These are major upgrades. i also find the X100VI more reactive than its predecessors, despite the increased file sizes. On the other points you make: the onboard flash remains extremely convenient even if the recycling time is what it is. No other current camera offers integrated flash and fast x-sync leaf shutter. It would be nice if it allowed continuous shooting but you can always add a small fast recycling flash in the hotshoe for the type of scenario you describe. Finally, the lens: nobody wants a camera size increase. That means you'll never get to f/1.4 for this form factor. Maybe we could ask for an improved design for less glowy rendering at f/2, but I kind of like that glow. Oh, and it seems the rumoured GFX fixed lens "compact" will have a f/4 lens (again for size), which would not change much in terms of depth of field compared to the X100 series.
@@nevvanclarke9225 I don't. My new Nikon has good colors too. All colors are quite similar between all brands, there's nothing so bad or so good that it'll dictate what brand I get. The one thing Fuji has going for it is film sim jpgs right of camera and the customization of it. The jpgs are great when the shot is sharp and in focus, and the ability to just take a photo and use that straight out without editing is quite a nice option. Though I get much more out of my RAWs and video on my current camera, and my keeper rates are substantially more than I had with Fujifilm. I'll consider Fuji's new full frame option as a second body if they flesh out a good lens library for that sensor size and also tune their autofocus to be as competitive as the current big 3. I'll say that one thing I do miss from Fujifilm is their all metal construction. If you handle other came brand hardware it's just not the same feeling because they use more plastics.
Good option I heard was 64:25. That would fit, because they are not against making strange cameras (med format fixed lens), and it does not require a completely new lens lineup.
Only thing i Know is that Fuji NEED only One Mount. Like Sony, Nikon and Canon. No more two mounts nonsense. You can update the GFX mount to be the smaller possible and with the shorter flange distance possible, even smaller and shorter flange distance than XCD mount. With that mount Fuji would be in the Nikon Z territory, milimeter more or less. You can use that mount for APSC, FF and MF (44x33mm). And Fuji X and GFX lenses would be fully adaptable to the new mount.
New cameras and new possibilities are always good news. As a Fuji shooter my "thing" is with the X mount, I hope that this news were related to the X mount because a new Fuji mount it's the same as changing brands. I think APS-H camera with X mount could be a step forward for pro photographers, closer to FF but with the advantages of the APSC size and the X mount lenses. We still need Fuji to invest more effort on developing more pro lenses and a better autofocus system. APS-H could mean a better low light performance which would be great, and most of the x mount lenses will cover it.
It could be a curved sensor - This would simplify lens design because a curved sensor lenses won't need as much corrective glass in them. If they were to go with full-frame instead I would imagine they would join the L Mount Alliance so they can launch a series of bodies with third party lenses already out there ready to go.
lol, I got ripped to shreds on the forums for daring to even suggest the sensor could be FF. But look at the current situation, fuji sit almost alone making APS-C, and if they wish to compete, they need need to go FF IMHO. Glad you are here to speak out against the fuji purists! I hope too, its an interchangeable lens camera too, please, not another fixed lens camera! I would not buy that.
I wonder when organic curved sensors are coming? I was at a crazy dark venue the other day, basically candles looked really bright but you could see fine with your eyes so when people were saying why are you struggling, you have a Sony A1 and f1.4 lenses, I just had to say basically the human eye is way ahead of anything man-made. (I was having to shoot at least at 1/200s as there was a lot of movement.)
Sounds interesting. I loved the output from the Lumix S9 but couldn't get on without a viewfinder so sold it. A small Fujifilm full frame would be very interesting to me, even if I had to sell both my Fuji's!
Do their medium format lenses have a big enough image circle to cover an actual 645 size sensor? If so I'd say that's a possibility as they wouldn't have to create a new lens lineup.
@@DuncanCoxjust stop. Fuji doesn‘t pay you for that. Fuji has the worst AF on the market rn and the first XH firmware is better then 7.0 in the XH2S with a stacked sensor! That‘s just unacceptable
@@DuncanCox by your logic your assuming I don’t know how to use my camera has nothing to do with flaw auto focus spending almost close to $2000 for a camera that auto focus should work as good as a Sony or a canon camera

Fuji can't get APSC AF down, how in the world would they get FF sensors to focus? I bet it is either a "medium format" fixed lens camera, FF fixed lens or it will be an APSC Bayer sensor. Technically, a Bayer sensor would be the different sensor in their APSC lineup. Maybe it's time to give X-Trans a rest finally.

A lot of comments here talk about Fuji's auto focus: I had the X-T4 and it was back then Fuji's fastest autofocusing, top-end model. I sold it and got a mid-range Sony A7 IV. The focusing, as well as low light performance are much, much better m
If Fuji were really smart when going to full frame they would work out an arrangement where they are licensed to use the Nikon Z mount on that new camera. Because the greatest hurdle Fuji will face going full frame is providing lenses for that new camera and the Nikon mount would provide a path to a large inventory of lenses already in production.
New sensor size could also mean Micro 4/3 or it could mean a smaller medium format sensor or even a brand new sensor size that nobody's seen before. The whole thing is intriguing
I really love the Fujifilm APS-C cameras and strongly hope that they will put all energies (and money) to improve the APS-C and expand the lenses offer. I think invest in FF with the competition of all the biggest brands will mean limiting resources for aps-c and lose person like me that want compact camera systems. So I hope something different like 4/3 or 1" with a limited financial investment
I think with their move to high resolution sensors it gets more evident that the zoom lenses cannot really keep up with image quality of full frame systems. For primes I don‘t see the benefits at least if you don‘t need the extreme low f stops. One has to keep in mind that the resolution of a lens also scales with the crop factor.
I like your discussion of the slow development of medium format sensors as being a bottleneck in Fujifilm’s medium format ambitions. The APSC line has been lucrative and diverse enough to cater for a range of user needs. Adding full-frame would give them a new place for their customers to go but would need Lenses. It would call for a New Mount. It would call for knowledge of who might need such a format from Fujifilm and how they intend to use it. If they can nearly replicate the Medium format look and the new mount is adaptable to currently available full frame lenses it could be viable. The niche nature of Fujifilm is offset by its wide range of variants. Fixed lens models would be nice, think 645s and 645w and then imagine the camera cropping down to APSC to narrow the angle of shooting. A 45mp sensor and one lens could be like a two lens kit the same pixel pitch but two focal lengths by cropping in camera. Both 45mp and 22.5mp so an f=35mm lens doubles as an f=53mm In APSC mode. Since 40mp is available on APSC the same pixel pitch at full frame would be 80mp and that would be impressive. 80mp full frame or even 64mp full frame would be way more than enough.
Fixed lens RX1/Q like camera would make sense the most. I just hope they would try to not make large, skip hybrid viewfinder, include stabilization and many crop modes and uhs-ii slot.
A new kind of camera doesn't mean a new sensor size. I know Patrick claims that, but I'm still not convinced. I think that the most logical option is a new APS-C camera with a global shutter sensor and fixed DR issues of the A9 III. And If they are making a camera with a new sensor size why not an m4/3 camera, to make a hybrid camera the same way as the Panasonic is doing with the GH7. Great video specification and options at a good price?
My dream camera has always been a Sony A7r4 sensor and processing in the body of a Fuji Xt3. If this could get us closer to something like that, then I would be all for it. I would love it to be full frame. Sadly, I suspect the ‘new kind of camera’ will just be another smaller sensor (1 inch / mft) vlogging camera. Fuji have the XS line, but they are still fairly large. I could see them bringing out a physically smaller camera for content creators. Still, we live in hope.
If I hadn't just bought a second X-T5 for Infrared stuff, I would be interested in a full frame version of the X-T5 if it has X-Trans. However, I would have to wait because I don't have the budget for another camera right now. I don't have brand loyalty, but Fuji does two things that caused me to use them for my digital interchangeable lens cameras. I like the X-Trans sensor array more than Bayer, and the controls scheme of the X-T# cameras. I came from old Canon and Nikon film to digital, I did not want to have to learn how to go menu diving just to take a photo. The X-T5 keeps my process similar to when shooting the F-Tb(n) that I have.
I wonder if the current Fuji X-lenses line up would work with a APS-H sensor... a Global Shutter APS-H sensor or maybe Fuji would make a larger APS-X sensor??? I went to Sony after seeing the AF performance on the X-H2s after years of many X-series bodies.
There is definitely a market for a fixed lens full frame camera. Image a Leica Q3 at half the price or less. Fuji wouldn’t be able to make enough to meet the demand.
Disagree... the limitation in the fuji system is not sensors but lenses. They have few lenses sharp enough to keep up with their 40MP sensor: particularly in zooms and supertelephoto primes. I expect a "new type of sensor" might be a foveon style sensor, Sony did have a patent a few years back. This would increase the photosite size, and give better performance while maintaining high resolution.
I agree that a FF X100 type could sell well - although they are still a step behind the big companies on AF, so they would need to close that gap. I could also see them coming out with a classic body and a few small high quality pancake primes
I really don't hope they will try to move into the full frame market. To me it seems like a mistake, when their niche is APS-C/medium format. It is rather interesting regardless. L-mound could be nice, especially if they make a FF to medium format converter, so you can use the glass from either system on each other for more diversity.
I have been asking for a full frame Fujifilm for several years and if now Fujifilm does a full frame camera then I am in. HOPEFULLY? If Fujifilm makes a full frame similar to the XT5 crop sensor with a 50 megapixel full frame sensor and an improved autofocus with all the other similarity of the XT5 tilting screen horizontal/vertical and good grip then I am sure the market will respond. Of course lenses will be also an important factor but 3rd party manufacturers could supply it and with a full frame how about Fujifilm making adapters that will work with Nikon L and Z mount lenses? This concept will create a tornado in the full frame circles. When selling the camera bodies how about including the adapters for various already existing lenses and that will excite buyers all over.
X100 FF edition with a FF 24-28mm fixed lens. Would be a knock out success. Considering Fuji production issues time after time, I can't see them creating a FF lens line up. It might be L mount though.
I'm gonna bet its a FF camera. Like everyone else is saying; i really dont care what camera it is, if the AF is as bad as every one of their current cameras then forget about it. Because of this i have a bunch of my Fuji stuff on marketplace
I don’t think it will be full frame… I don’t think Fuji wants to be in that realm and honestly they don’t need to attack that market. I think this is going to be a niche sensor size..like you said, if it is full frame it would have to be on something like the x100 for it to migrate in
If I'm getting a Fujifilm camera regardless of sensor size. I want the film sims and recipes. When it comes to interchangeable lense cameras. I prefer prime lenses. When it comes to fixed lense compacts. I would prefer a zoom lense. Something like a 24-75 1.7-2.8 that is on the Leica D-Lux 8 Micro 4/3. If Fujifilm or anyone could figure out how to do that on a reasonably compact body with a full frame or even an APS-C sensor. I might buy one even if I can't afford it.
If Fuji goes FF and also goes PDAF I’m switching back to them. But I don’t really have hope for them considering they haven’t fixed AF in APSC cameras. Granted if they go FF it’s going to require a new mount unless it’s a fixed mount camera. Let’s see what happens.
Fuji already has the cameras a lot of wildlife and especially bird photographers would favor if they would just improve their AF. Canon has the right AF in the R7 but just needs to improve the rest of the camera. A baby R3 body wrapped around a new R7 sensor would be perfect.
Personally I would like to see a smaller sensor camera akin to a Pentax Q or Nikon 1. Bring back the fun aspect, and also the element of sufficiency. It’s been tough for OM System and Micro Four Thirds in recent years because of all the full frame supremacists out there. I don’t want to end up in a situation where every single camera that’s not a smartphone is full frame.
i know fujifilm has repeatedly said they aren't going to make a full frame sensor camera, but i thnk maybe an aps-h could be a possibility. that said if they finally went full frame i would be very curious about that. ive been a fuji shooter for almost a decade, and would love a full frame sensor.
All we need from fuji is a fixed lens, weather sealed Q competitor. Maybe even a multi-lens with fixed focal lengths to switch between 35 and 50 for example (think leica old tri-lens).. This, with the existing GF software / film simulations / crop modes.. would be quite strong against Leica. Better in my opinion. But METAL BUILD QUALITY, please. No X100 plastic and cheap EVFs... This type of camera is perhaps the only camera for Fuji that makes sense to have a different sensor size than the others. We don't need another lens mount, X and GF are enough. Just keep up the good work and continue developing GF lenses...
Thank you for this interesting news/rumours! Full frame with interchangeable Nikon F-mount lenses (like in the past with Fuji Fujifilm S pro series) would be a real game changer! I think of all Nikon users WHO can "throw away" their F-lenses because of the Z-system (the FTZ adapter ist the same like a Fringer NF to X)
I hope to make a very compact camera of a maximum of 300 gr and with a stronger sensor than the medium format one and for the lens system to be incorporated inside the camera and to rotate over the sensor inside, respectively the macro, wide, tele, supertele lens and have digital filter.
A new Fullframe system with interchangeable lenses wouldn‘t make any sense for fujifilm. That would destroy APSc. Just one Ff camera with fixed lense is possible, but I don‘t think Fuji will bring this. My suggestion is a compact camera with a SQUARE sensor 25.1 x 25.1 mm. That would allow to make fotos in upright format and landscape format without turning the camera. A 40 mp sensor has enough resolution for free format choice in post-processing. And all Aps-c lenses could be used with this camera. But if I‘m honest, this is more hope than real expectation.
I assume since it's a new sensor size, t will be a fixed lens camera, it will either be a type 1 sensor with a zoom lens, or aps-h or ff with a compact bright aperture lens
Fuji also said for years that fuji cameras are incompatible with IBIS and will never have ibis. Until they had IBIS. So i am sure it is Full frame. What would Be great if they accept L mount since you will already have tons of lenses available. I take it that unlike Xf mount, gfx mount is just not selling well.
If it is full frame, it'll be fixed lens. The X-H is their flagship camera, so they don't want to cannibalize that line. The XT almost did that with the X-H1. Plus, a new lens line wouldn't make sense for them, or users.
A 4:3, Aps c, MFT, medium format with full frame. You can use all lenses from all manufacturers with all mounts, it even washes the dishes and walks the dog. But autofocus will still be crap!

Maybe a film camera? Following the Pentax trail...😅 Or a compact premium camera with a 1" sensor like RX100 series?
The problem is that they don't have any glass to support a different sensor size.
They could potentially use their GF mount for FF, which is 1cm larger than Nikon Z mount
(edit) fixed typo.
Nice!
I sold all my Fuji stuff already. I'll go back to Fuji when they fix they sheet.
Im sure you miss the colours....!! there is always a trade off
@@nevvanclarke9225 I don't.
What if the new sensor is the XPan-like?
I was literally thinking the same!
now thats an exciting theory
If it happens it’ll be until 2028 (per FujiRumors)
Good option I heard was 64:25. That would fit, because they are not against making strange cameras (med format fixed lens), and it does not require a completely new lens lineup.
A full frame Fujifilm that can't autofocus properly would be hilarious!
Andrea I appreciate your videos and camera updates! 🙌
Thanks!
Curved senso and IBIS probably is a nightmare to design, I don’t think it’s suitable for an ILC, maybe a fixed lens camera.
Curved sensor would be too much to make
@@cloud-bytes Sony are making them already.
@@acmdv I’m curious to see a link to that. I worked in chip fabs a long time and would love to know how this was approached
I believe it will be a 5x7 INSTAX camera!
i wish!!
lol, I got ripped to shreds on the forums for daring to even suggest the sensor could be FF.
I'm quite happy wtih APS-C file size and resolution.
Well the human eye was made by Jesus Christ and the A1 by a bunch of smart but limited people.

If so I'd say that's a possibility as they wouldn't have to create a new lens lineup.
a range finder with full frame would be really nice. but I hope they have no production problems and it will really be available
New camera……. 🤦🏾♂️ we want our auto focus fixed
Stop blaming yeh camera and learn how to use it
@@DuncanCoxjust stop. Fuji doesn‘t pay you for that. Fuji has the worst AF on the market rn and the first XH firmware is better then 7.0 in the XH2S with a stacked sensor! That‘s just unacceptable
@@DuncanCox by your logic your assuming I don’t know how to use my camera has nothing to do with flaw auto focus spending almost close to $2000 for a camera that auto focus should work as good as a Sony or a canon camera
the fix is selling off your Fuji gear.
@@weiyang6417🤔 are you gonna make me sell my Fuji gear
What am I realy wishing for Fujifilm to release is a GFX w/ fully stacked sensor for faster sensor read out, 1/250 or 1/500 Flash Sync Speed, Fully Electronic Shutter and Base ISO 50 just to compensate the DR loss for being a Fully Stacked Sensor and Fully Electronic Shutter 😊
Cinema box style camera would be pretty unreal!
I love anything that creates competition and Fujis Sims alone almost had my buy in. If they don’t get their AF on par with CaSoNikon it won’t matter if they come out with a sub $3k FF global 50mp BSI Stacked Sensor… which I’d love to see!
1st Fuji will break out with a full frame and Sony gonna pop up with a medium format lol
sony won't!! ....they make plenty of coin selling their sony sensors to Nikon and fuji
A lot of comments here talk about Fuji's auto focus: I had the X-T4 and it was back then Fuji's fastest autofocusing, top-end model. I sold it and got a mid-range Sony A7 IV. The focusing, as well as low light performance are much, much better m
If it is Full Frame and the mount isn't called FFX, I will directly go to their headquarters, we'll have to talk about consistency.
If it is a full frame, we will buy it on day one. Fujifilm people are usually not one-camera people.
New sensor size could also mean Micro 4/3 or it could mean a smaller medium format sensor or even a brand new sensor size that nobody's seen before. The whole thing is intriguing
27x36mm, a 3:4 ratio, or perhaps 28x35mm 4:5 to set it apart from other FF sensors, and 3rd party glass would still cover it.
Any thoughts on when the new sensor camera will be announced? I could have missed it but it didn't seem to be included in today's X Summit
What mount will the use? New mount? Existing mount?
This should be interesting with all the vintage lenses we've picked up for the Fuji X cameras.
The GFX 100s II is brilliant - honestly it focuses well enough to shoot events and weddings
I am lurking to buy the Leica Q3 43, but if they release a x-pro with a FF... But at the end, why not just go for the GFX50 ?
I think you’re right. A full frame X100 offers the best risk/reward scenario
Fixed lens RX1/Q like camera would make sense the most.
I just hope they would try to not make large, skip hybrid viewfinder, include stabilization and many crop modes and uhs-ii slot.
I think a type 1 sensor would align better with the Fuji brand. Compact cameras are coming back!
Plot twist. Is a camera with sensor bigger than medium format. Lol
Large format? Big format? or just.. Format?
How would that work with their current lineup of crop sensor lenses? They’d have to quickly develop and release full frame lenses.
Don't think Foveon is really ready yet...
Well well, if an X100VI full frame version does get announced, I guess I'm finally going to pre-order my first Fuji ever..
Finally a Full Frame Sensor.
in the XPro 4
How about a non-bayerized color sensor? The colors would be software defined.
I don't see Fuji play in the FF territory, a market that doesn't really need another player.
People want the Q's but it's just a dream for most.
Still sells like hotcakes!
Seems like a monochrom sensor would be more likely FF, but will keep fingers crossed!
I hope to make a very compact camera of a maximum of 300 gr and with a stronger sensor than the medium format one and for the lens system to be incorporated inside the camera and to rotate over the sensor inside, respectively the macro, wide, tele, supertele lens and have digital filter.
That would be exciting a Fujifilm full frame fix lens!
What happened to the MF X100? That would be way cooler.
I assume since it's a new sensor size, t will be a fixed lens camera, it will either be a type 1 sensor with a zoom lens, or aps-h or ff with a compact bright aperture lens
Updates on Panasonic L Mount Flagship release?
Fuji also said for years that fuji cameras are incompatible with IBIS and will never have ibis. Until they had IBIS. So i am sure it is Full frame. What would
Be great if they accept L mount since you will already have tons of lenses available. I take it that unlike Xf mount, gfx mount is just not selling well.
Who cares unless they fix autofocus
I heard a new rumor Fujifilm will introduce a brand new kind of camera, a camera ACTUALLY can auto focus.
The smart move would be to release a FF camera with nikon Z mount. It wouldn't be the first time Fuji have made a camera with a Nikon mount...
Fujifilm X100 full frame 😍
If it is full frame, it'll be fixed lens. The X-H is their flagship camera, so they don't want to cannibalize that line. The XT almost did that with the X-H1. Plus, a new lens line wouldn't make sense for them, or users.
A 4:3, Aps c, MFT, medium format with full frame. You can use all lenses from all manufacturers with all mounts, it even washes the dishes and walks the dog. But autofocus will still be crap!
