    I commented on the original video and I'll say it again after all these years: THAT VIDEO ONLY is worth to be sold as a course.
    I have impressed so many clients with my presentations, just by following Ben's instructions.
    Still can't believe that you guys published it for free. God bless you all!

    Rarely, I have gone to a second session for a Logo presentation, following Ben’s tips and The Futur’s course on Logo Design

    I'm assuming this would be only for the final design. So how would you go about presenting the work in progress designs where it may just be clean sketches?

    • @atwajesper9434
      @atwajesper9434 2 роки тому +7

      Curious,
      Aren't the sketches supposed to be for yourself? I mean, you are not supposed to present sketches to your clients but final versions.
      Of course, you are always open for revisions and modifications but the client doesn't need to see your process; I'd say it could even be counterproductive for you as a designer.

      @@atwajesper9434 You’re right. That’s what main guy (Chris, is it?) from The Futur teaches. It does make sense and it’s more professional. You may be and should be proud of your process, but it doesn’t mean the client needs to see it necessarily (maybe showing the best versions of your sketches on your online portfolio could be a cool way of showing that while presenting your best work for someone who purposefully want to see it and by doing so it could look cool and it shows a little something extra and special from behind the curtain, while allowing your future client to see what t takes for you to get to that final result). To emphasize the original point, and as an alternative example: a movie watcher does not need to see the weeks or months of story and preparation it takes an actor to prepare for a role in order to enjoy a movie. Right? Hope that helps @joe

      @@atwajesper9434 Well I show clients sketches because my design process involves a phase of discovery through brainstorming. I usually have a lot of ideas for designs that will work for the project but vary in style or focus. So I get clients involved to see if they have a preference, alongside my advice on which I think is best. I'd love to show clean work for all of that but it would take way too long. It's easier to get out a bunch of semi clean sketches and see if the client has a preference.
      Basically it gets the client involved, if they want, and helps the project end up with a logo that not just works but the client is happy with too. I've just not yet found a way I am happy with for showing those sketches. Will say the client is free to give me full reins but I find if guided a client can have their input without affecting the goals of the design.

      @@geewiz8253 I agree with the analogy but I'm not sure it fits. I'd compare a client more to a movie producer. Since it is their project being launched and they are paying for it. Movie producers do have a lot of other workers they hire for their skill and knowledge but the producer can still have a say in decisions. I like to give clients that input if it won't hurt the project.

    My logo teacher made me did 40 pages minimum to present assignment's logo

    • @geewiz8253
      @geewiz8253 2 роки тому

      Yes. But that was for an assignment. For teaching/learning purposes. But I get you: II’ve been on the same boat. I think some teachers are failing when they teach this way by not clarifying that we should not show so many options to clients because they will simply be understandably way too overwhelmed by so many options. And it’s not helpful to either party. We have to be smarter and narrow it (dumb it down, per say) when showing the best options for the client. And that number is certainly a whole lot less than 40. 👍

    How are these any better than a logo bot can make today? There’s nothing imaginative or innovative here. Certainly not enough to charge a fee!
