When eating sardinhas with boiled potatoes you should sprinkle the potatoes with a bit of vinegar and olive oil for added flavour.

Pica Pau is a type of dish we in Portugal call a petisco. Petiscos are small dishes for you to eat inbetween meals preferably in company of friends having a chat while eating served eithba nice cool beer - an imperial or a caneca. The spanish equivalent are the tapas but the portuguese petiscos are more varied and tasty.

Cacilhas is where you step out of the ferry from Lisboa. Though technically you were already in Cacilhas even when you were asking directions as its a parish of some size. Its hard to find the demarkation between Cacilhas and Almada as both form an uniform urban spraw together eith Pragal and Cova da Piedade.

My father served on that submarine. He was a portuguese navy sailor and retired as a sargent. Everytime i walk by on Cacilhas i see that submarine and that is part of my family history. My father hated serving in it, it was crowded and cramped. But whenever i see that submarine, now to become a museaum, i feel.a great sense of pride.

You should try the sardines with olive oil and vinegar with alittle coarse salt, it changes the flavour

The other great portuguese sea dish is Polvo á Lagareiro - grilled octopus. One of my top favorite dishes.

Hi Andres. Come visit Setubal. You only need to take the Fertagus train in Lisbon (9,20€ back and forth) In the old town of the city you will find so much potencial to.

My first thoughts about Almada was- this place has a potential! Why it's not the top place in Portugal yet?? Seriously... The Jesus, river, views... It has everything

  • @patriciaquintela899

We say in Portugal that you only get fresh good sardines in the months with „r“. This means from May to August the fresh sardines are not as good (big, fat). Anyway the frozen ones are good as well in my experience😅.

  • @carlossaraiva8213

Pica Pau should always be served with pickles.
