  • This is one of the last runs of the Season held on the last day of Whistler Mountain Bike Park being open. A-Line was so Buff and smooth as the trail crew did a fantastic job grooming it before season shutdown. Great times and kinda sad that it had to end. Until next time sweet Bike Park! See you then.

It can be done with a hardtail but you'll enjoy it a lot more on a full suspension. If you don't have one they can be rented in Whistler for like $100/day.

It really depends on what trails your riding, how well they`ve been looked after by the trail crew, and how the weather has been. Freeride(A-line-Dirt Merchant-Freight Train) is a little hard on the wrists but if the trail is sin good condition and it haunt been muddy or wet then its do-able. Bad weather=rougher trail. And you would not have fun on tech like Schleyer or Canadian Open. Me and my friends have ridden DH, Slope, Freeride, and Dirt Jumpers in the park, depends on the trails you ride.

But some of those jumps looked huge!
    Especially in spinal tap!
But I'd live to try it!
I only have a hard tail....
Would it be possible to do some of the trails at whistler with a hard tail??
I mean they look easy enough?? :D
    And suuppppeer fun!!

i love videos of whistler. are there all types of skill levels trails there or is it more or less for the more experienced rider. I've ridden bikes all my life but nothing advanced. In ohio, and most of our trails are pretty flat. Looking to take a mountain bike vacation but don't want to waste the money if the all the trails are way above my level.

@Justin3515 in fact i do know something =D when i was at whistler they were renting out kona stab deluxes, i dont know the exact price but it was around 40 for half a day or something like that, you can find all the rates on the whistler bike park website, glad i could help =D

@LiangVids it would totally handle it, but if your going to ride stuff like whistler you really need to get a triple crown fork, I had the bighit 2 2009 and I got a boxxer and its like night and day now

Just so you know, I hate you :P But seriously, whistler is awesome! I'm from Jasper and because it's a park, we can't use the mountain in the summer because it's a grizzly passageway. Funny though, I guess the Golf Course didn't affect the bears at all.... Oh well XC it is for me

not these exact runs persay, these twist and turn through the heavily treed areas of whistler mountain, some biking runs use the ski run, but the majority are cut into the mountain, and therefore are not open for skiing and riding during the winter, unless your adventurous.

@matteussecondus @matteussecondus There are some hardcore hardtailers who ride Whistler but I think you would have more fun on a full suspension bike. I've ridden the bike park on a freeride and downhill bike and had a way better ride on the beefier downhill bike. Hope this helps.

If you are just starting out I suggest you cheaper to midrange ($300-700) Cross Country bike to get used to riding on dirt rather than pavement, and check out some of the local trails in your area first. You should get som expeience before you jump into stuff like this.
