This is such a simple but so effective painting. It is really wonderful. What surprises me is that over 3,000 people have seen it and there are over 60,000 subscribers yet only 317 people have liked it. Is it just forgetfulness? Come on folks, press that button. Karen, this is wonderful.
I am a Canadian Army Veteran and I have a special fondness for the poppy. I was looking for some cards I could purchase, but couldn't find any I like. So, I thought I'd learn how to do some watercolour poppies on some card stock I have to make my own. I only dabble a little with watercolours. This is gorgeous! You have such a lovely even voice and your photography is very clear and steps very easy to follow - now whether or not I can actually do it remains to be seen. I will pop over to your webpage and purchase your stencil. Thank you! Well done.
Hi Karen, you do this so easily!, I think I get it after your tutorial, there must be plenty of water so that you have time to drop the paint and let it do as you say “it’s thing”. Thank you for all the advice you unselfishly give us. ❤
What a stunning poppy…. I am so inspired to use the tips from your videos. Hope I can do it justice. 🖍🖊Thanks for explaining the process so thoroughly.🥰
I absolutely love how you are able to define and carve out those separate petals of the poppy just by using the paint and blending with water to create shadows. I am going to practice that. Wonderful content as always, Karen.
Thanks greatly Karen for sharing another amazing detailed video inspiring others to paint and produce better watercolour paintings, the calming approach you take steps how to increase paint at different shades to finish with a truer colour. greatly appreciated stay safe
Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I did find the videos on the members site. That is how I confirmed that I was not receiving them. I hoped you weren't sick with COVID but also thought you could be on holidays. The fall leaves video I did receive in my email but several days after you had posted it. I am really enjoying your videos and I am learning so much. And I like your attitude about having fun and not worrying about it. I like all the techniques and fix-its. Thank you!
Thanks Linda, hopefully it is a glitch. I have been well, thank you! Hope you enjoy the Knapweed video, I will be uploading the members version later today. Take care 😀
This was a wonderful tutorial! I am painting August's Birthday flowers and I will use this one for a card for my friends! Very informative and easy to follow! Thank you!
Yes, without a doubt, please, would love to see you paint more flower tutorials as this one they are beautiful and extremely helpful. Thank you for sharing your artistic talent.
Gosh Karen! This one’s beauty stopped my heart. I’m working on some small poppies for a bookmark, taking my time and building up tonal values. It takes a lot of time, but is so worth it in the end. Thank you for sharing all your fantastic tips. I’ll be using them as I finish my little poppies. Blessings to you!
Very similar to one I found a few years ago. Beautiful job you did! Thank you for sharing! I used to grow poppy's in the front yard, but they um.... disappeared somehow. I'll watch your video a few times, and maybe give it a go.
This is a great tutorial on painting poppies (with detail not just loose)! I can mix my water colors now but biggest issue is don’t really “know where to put shadows” & how much are your classes “monthly” as still trying to pull & blend thicker pigment (practice time)! Tyvm!!
I wanna paint poppy for my girlfriend's birthday, this was our first flower when we played Minecraft before. I can't afford a fancy date but I guess it's better to give her a paint than nothing, right?
Love your videos, your style and technique ❤️ and the music in the background is absolutely perfect 👌 your watercolour videos are my favourites here on UA-cam 🎨🎉👩🎨❣️
Absolutely gorgeous! Just yesterday I was hoping to find a poppy tutorial and her it is! Have you thought about doing an online class? I know you have taught for years but for those of us in the US, it would be awesome if you could, especially with what is happening around the world. Thank you for sharing your talent and can't wait to check out your daughter's channel!
Hello KR. I'm coming a little late to this poppy party but I just wanted you to know I finished mine today. Again, another lovely result from following you. Thank you! (Btw I did the background first, wet on wet, blue and green, sprinkled with salt and then painted the flower. I got that idea from another KR vid. You're a great inspiration!)
I’m new to your channel-so impressed. Gorgeous poppy, you make it look so easy even though it’s not. Looking forward to more flower paintings. Thank you!
I am not receiving the videos by email as I was before. As far as I know I am still subscribed. I didn't unsubscribe. I haven't received anything since the painting of all the different autumn leaves. What do I do to get back on the list? Thank you
Thanks for your message Linda, just to confirm you are still a member of my UA-cam channel membership. Sorry you haven't received an email of the latest members video. I am looking into this... Meanwhile all of the members videos are available on the Members Playlist, which you can find on my home page, under playlists. Hope this was helpful :)
Thanks for your great question Karen! It is the bottom of part of the tin that my QOR watercolour set came in. Here is a link:www.jacksonsart.com/golden-qor-watercolour-introductory-set-of-6-colours-5ml-tubes?___store=jacksonsart_en&acc=51ef186e18dc00c2d31982567235c559

Love it! Can't wait to give it a try. Would it be terribly difficult to put a background in?
Hi Lisa, thank you! You could put a background in, just make sure it doesn't touch the poppy :)
Who makes the butcher tray you are using?
