4:58 That's exactly why I got hooked to the series from Cat Quest 2. I introduced the Ys style gameplay to my 7yo nephew while playing coop with him. Learning about ARPG model : attacking, dodging, spacing, ennemis pattern, equipment stat, side questing, characters, story, mixing reading & action.
It actually has swashbuckling in it so it's automatically the best 2024 seafaring game developed by a Singaporean studio! Cat Quest 3 releases the day before National Day of the dev's home country! We're taking the long weekend to binge this hotly-awaited title! Majulah Singapurrrah!
Great review. I am playing it with my son and we’re having a blast! It’s so easy to pick up and it’s really addictive to find better loot and upgrade your weapons etc. The only really downside is the hardware lag on my PS5 during some intense fights. Bad optimization I guess. But other than that, it’s a perfect game for local co-op!
I miss switching back and forth between the cat and dog in CQ2, building two completely unique characters from one another was so cool, i wish they at least gave us two cats for single player, Young Souls actually reminded me a lot of CQ2, for those of you who dont know Young Souls was an indie 2.5D beat em up action RPG from 2022 that let you switch and build two completely unique characters on the fly in single player, just like CQ3 its a $20 title but it often goes on sale for $10 or less, or at least on PSN it does
I played and even platinumed Cat Quest 2... and boy, what a mixed experience it was. The story did nothing for me. At all. Nothing about the story grabbed me. It felt like a maelstrom of cat puns and evil doppelgangers. I would argue if you played straight through Cat Quest 2 without bothering with sidequests, it'd be a middling experience from beginning to end. ... However, what struck me is that while the main quest is nothing to be excited about, the side content is where things got interesting. At one point, an NPC started glitching out, realizing she was an NPC in a video game! Suddenly, one of the game devs teleports in, apologizes, and takes the NPC out of the game. It was so amusingly weird and meta that I couldn't help but appreciate it. Then before long, I found a secret island where I had to fight the game developers themselves! My prize? A golden key that allowed me to unlock chests that held some of the most powerful weapons and accessories within the game! Honestly... it was pretty cool. The side content really helped improve my outlook on Cat Quest as a series. The main quest was nothing, but the side content was wonderfully meta and fun. If Cat Quest 3 has more goofy side content, I may be willing to sail through more cat puns just to see what meta shenanigans the developers have cooked up.
@@vVAstrAVv just finished 3 and I enjoyed it better than 2. I didn’t care for the story or making the villains softies after being defeated. I also didn’t like the fire island. Other than that everything was acceptable in my opinion.
@@rshobe1 eh. It only does that for 2 villains and the intent is to reinforce the main theme. But sure. Narrative wise it's no Xenoblade 3. That'd be expecting a little much. I'm fine with the game being fun
No, the series(of which is IS the third entry, no side games) has gaps between the games of seemingly hundreds of years, and this one is taking place in an entirely new area of the world, so its plot is disconnected from the ones that came before save for bits that lead into more later.
Huge fan of 1 and 2 I own them for both PC and Android I hope this comes to GOG to complete my collection because I refuse to buy another game from Steam.
2 seems to be a mixed bag going by comments and 1 doesn't have coop I guess. 3 would be the best to start but honestly 1 and 2 are like 5$ each so there's no reason not to get them too
The 2nd cat quest was a poor coop experience. Too many spike traps and constantly waiting on them or your partner to get through them. Hope this one has less spike traps. I hate them more than Anikin hates sand.

cat puns is all over this game. i freaking love it since cat quest 1

I loved the prequels, but the production quality of this one certainly improved a lot! Looks great
Seriously, looks leagues better and I’m currently enjoying the 2nd one on ps+. Got this one pre ordered. Gonna try and get my son to play with me lol
Yeah, looks so much more polished and beautiful!
I bought all 3 last week and I started the third one yesterday. It’s so fun.
Looks like a bit of everything sprinkled in here. Seafaring, action RPG, some Hollow Knight-type boss fights, traditional RPG... looks pretty good!
Man I love this trilogy so much! I am playing 3 right now.
I keep seeing these games but never played any. I may have to check these out since I keep hearing good things
I just started play part 2 buying this after I beat it
That's exactly what Im doing too bro
I love the Cat Quest games. Have really lost interest in gaming lately but I'll be playing this on release day.
I'll be buying this.

As my grandma used to say, this looks like the cat’s pajamas.
Man, really thinking about grabbing a physical of this one. Looks super fun.
It is, and not that expensive

Finally, a game to rival Monster Hunter's cat puns

curious how this game will compare to the other 2
I played the last 2 to completion and this one will be no different
I love cat quest 😊

Played 1 & 2, and yeah you can skip through the story those are the weakest points. But everything else was great imo
I hope this holds my attention more than part 2. I couldn’t finish it.
Same, cat quest 1 was far better than 2. I didn’t finish 2 either
Stuff in 2 is a bit tougher than it should be even early on.
1 and 3 don't seem to have that issue so you won't bounce off for the grind at least.
Think you may just have a short attention span. Or trying playing with another person.

I have Cat Quest 1 & 2 on PS5 Extra - should I start this one instead? Or one of the others? For Local Co-op
2 seems to be a mixed bag going by comments and 1 doesn't have coop I guess.
3 would be the best to start but honestly 1 and 2 are like 5$ each so there's no reason not to get them too
They are too similar to play 1 to 3 and playing 3 will make you go into downgrade. So either play 3 and forget the rest of play 1 but spacing them out
Amazing game
Ok so just like Cat quest 1 and 2. My game of the year is going to be 3.
The 2nd cat quest was a poor coop experience. Too many spike traps and constantly waiting on them or your partner to get through them. Hope this one has less spike traps. I hate them more than Anikin hates sand.
I just finished this game with the platinum, so basically did everything and I saw not one spike trap thankfully
There are spikes HAZARDS that you just have to go around. But other than that the only other traps are in the one fire dungeon
Gd game❤
Alr so what’s the end game goal?
(Example, Minecraft’s end goal is to kill the ender dragon)
When did mineshit even get a purpose other than making a pointless house other than just cause you can? 😂
… I don’t know… maybe becoming a pirate and defeating the evil guy? You know, the plot?
(Minecraft kids…)
@@kolz4ever1980mineshit? Come on now, how old are you? 😂
