    As a side note, I almost never say the word "aesthetic" so it's funny to me that I said it so much in this video (5 times I think). I also think I've said it before in other videos 🤔.

    Thanks for the video! I just got mine (also turquoise and on sale). This is my first PRS, and after polishing the frets, oiling the fingerboard, and putting 10s on it, I'm pretty happy with it. The intonation and action are good (no fret buzz), and the finish is perfect. Tuning stability is better with the 10s, so I don't plan on changing the tuners or nut. I like the pickups with gain, okay with clean tones, but I need to gig with it before I decide whether to swap them out. I love the versatility of the split coils.
    I currently use my strat and Les Paul to gig, but it's almost 12 lbs and I'm getting too old to lug it around.

    • @bjackson4
      @bjackson4  9 місяців тому

      No problem! Congrats on the new guitar! Glad you’re happy with it now 😄. If you were to swap out the pickups, do you know one which ones you’d go with?
      Geez, that’s heavy for a guitar 😅. This guitar is relatively light which I appreciate!

    • @guithawk-ij8is
      @guithawk-ij8is 9 місяців тому

      Haven't really thought about what pickups to swap out with, but I'll go with these for a bit and see how I like them. My Les Paul is a 1976 Deluxe - Norlin era pancake body. Sounds and plays incredible and sustains for days, but it literally weighs around 12 lbs. When I was young I didn't mind so much, but I'm in my 60s now. The PRS is comparable to my strat in weight. I was taking my Gretsch hollowbody out instead, but it's hard to control the feedback. So far after tweaking it I'm pretty happy with it, can't wait to take it out for a test drive!

    • @bjackson4
      @bjackson4  9 місяців тому

      @@guithawk-ij8is gotcha! Regardless, I hope you get the tone you're looking for with whatever pickups you decide to go with! That's wild!! 12lbs is super heavy for a guitar. I hope the test drive goes well!

    Love the idea of reviewing after a week, month, year… I’m in the market Oct 2024, curious your “almost a year” thoughts.

    • @bjackson4
      @bjackson4  16 днів тому +1

      Thank you! I actually plan on doing the year review this week and having it uploaded on Sunday. However, my thoughts are yes it’s still a great guitar. The lack of an arm carve is really the only thing I don’t like about it but that’s personal preference. I didn’t end up swapping the pickups but if I do keep the guitar then I may do that in the future. Just for personal taste though.
      My personal opinion: At $699 USD new, this is a great deal. Nothing was/is objectively wrong with it and things function as they should. The fact that it comes with a gig bag as well is a nice touch.
      Let me know if you have any questions! Thank you for watching! 😄.

    • @adaytorene270
      @adaytorene270 11 місяців тому

      @@bjackson4 they both feel pretty natural to me. But I honestly prefer the Core joint a tad bit more. You have to really get in there to even feel the neck plate or any of the bolts. So it’s almost like a set neck with all the benefits and snappiness of a bolt on.

      @@bjackson4 Having played both, and owning a Core CE24 Semi-Hollow, I much prefer the joint on the Core. The SE feels like a Fender in the upper registers. That is not bad at all, I love my Strats, but the core feels much more... Set neck. It feels undeniably nicer with the heel joint being flush with the body vs sticking out like on the SEs.

    Great review! I have an SE Custom 24 myself and love it! The satin neck on this model has me tempted though 👀side note - I can't figure out what chords you're playing at 2:50! Are you using a pitch effect or in a different tuning?

    • @bjackson4
      @bjackson4  14 днів тому

      Thank you so much! Glad you love yours :D. I've played a couple of SE CU 24s and they have been fantastic. I think it's probably the effects going on. It is in standard E tuning without any pitch effects but I think I used one of Plini's presets in the Neural DSP Archetype Plini X plugin for that part. Forgive me because I'm not good with chord names yet but I will try my best to explain below. I'll denote the numbers beginning with the A string and the majority of the chords are played using the A, D, and G strings.
      Chord 1: 9/11/9
      Chord 2: 4/6/4
      Chord 3: 5/7/6
      Chord 4: 0/2/1/0 then hammer on with the ring finger onto the 2 on the G string. So it would go 0/2/1/0 to 0/2/2/0
      Then repeat that sequence again for chords 1-3 but the 4th chord will go to 4/6/4/0/0
      The third time through repeat Chords 1-4 from the first time through.
      The 4th time through will be chords 1 and 2 then to chord 4 with the hammer on ring finger again. Then I just strum the open B string, 2 on the G and D strings, and the open A string, and end on Chord 4.

    Beautiful guitar brother 💯 I did a handful of mods to mine. Had Sweetwater satinize the neck, swapped the pickup rings to the PRS Ivory set, PRS lampshade knobs, cream switch tip, GraphTech tuners/nut and am putting a set of Seymour Duncan Pegasus/Sentient to better suit my style of playing.
    Most people won't need to mod as much as me, most of my mods are personal preference.

    • @bjackson4
      @bjackson4  11 місяців тому +1

      Thank you! 😄. How do you like it with the ivory pickup rings and the SD Pegasus/Sentient pickups? I'm still in between getting those pickups or the PRS 59/09s and getting the SD ones in a different guitar.
      Mods to be are the fun part because you can tweak it to your liking. I hope you're enjoying the guitar so far!

    • @adamstrachn
      @adamstrachn 11 місяців тому

      @@bjackson4 I really enjoy it. The ivory really adds a nice contrast to me. I dig the SD set of pickups. The Pegasus is more medium output which I like and I play a lot of progressive metal so big chords are very clear. It also works well when I jam to some blues or classic rock as well. Very versatile.
      The import SE pickups weren't bad at all, but more PAF than I like. I love the look of the PRS USA pickups with the squared off look. Those with some ivory pickup rings would make yours pop.

    Hi, I really like this guitar, the problem is that I don't like the colors (or at least in the photos). However I heard it's better in person, is that true? I would also like to know if it has any shades or tends to be a solid color, thanks 🙏🏻

    • @bjackson4
      @bjackson4  Місяць тому

      Hello! From my experience, mine seemed darker in person than in the photos, but that could be different from someone else. For your other question regarding the shades, do you mean does the color vary by guitar? If so, I haven’t seen any of these in person besides mine, but I saw the Satin Turquoise version at a guitar center and that color was close to mine. If you’re unsure and you order online, check the return policy beforehand just in case 😄. If a Satin top is more of your preference then they do have the Satin version and a Sandblasted version as well!

      @@bjackson4 Hi, thanks for the reply! I realized I asked the second question wrong (I'm using a translator lol): from some photos, the gloss turquoise seemed to have shades of darker green and blue, while in others it looked like a solid color. For example, if you google "prs se ce24 turquoise reddit" there is a guy who posted a photo that makes the guitar look amazing. I was wondering if yours also look like this in person or is it just the particular light. A thousand thanks!

    • @bjackson4
      @bjackson4  17 днів тому +1

      Hello! No problem. My apologies for the delay! Okay, I think I know what you mean now. Mine has shades of darker and lighter turquoise but that is due to the flame veneer so the parts that are flamed are darker. Either way, I personally think it's a beautiful guitar. I'll actually be working on my 1 year review of it this week and will share more visuals of the guitar. It'll be up next Sunday. Thanks!

    if you do change the pickups out, what pickups do you think would go well in a PRS guitar? I've never owned a PRS and I'm thinking about buying one.

    • @bjackson4
      @bjackson4  6 місяців тому

      I’m currently leaning towards not swapping them out for now. They just released an update on their S2 models and they now come with USA pickups. So I might get one of those and keep this guitar as is.
      I don’t know too much about pickups but I did enjoy the PRS 85/15s when I briefly played them so if I were to pick a set those would be one of my top options. I’ve heard great things about different Seymour Duncan pickups like the Pegasus/Sentient set as well but ultimately it depends on what you’re looking for.
      Do you want something with higher output, lower output, or somewhere in between?

      To follow up, I’ve got the locking tuners installed and enjoy them so far! I like that the locks are on top of the headstock instead of behind it. This made it easier for me when changing strings. They also look nice in my opinion. 😊

    For me I personally wouldn’t consider a SE CE PRS because if you look at it next to the US CE PRS they look totally different 🫤 the carve should be much closer to the US version and it would be easy since a c&c machine would do the bulk of the work 🤦🏻‍♂️
