You are telling the truth, about 6 years ago, i held a USA made blade for the first time and i instantly knew, and have been hooked since

Awesome review, I used to carry a smaller pocket knife for protection when I would go urban exploring and hiking. I don’t really baton wood at all or do bushcraft stuff to the tactical review approach was greatly appreciated. Just ordered mine!

Thanks for showing this knife. This is my second comment and after seeing it on your other video I ordered it immediately and it arrived today. What a beauty it takes this knife up to the next level and I was lucky to get the Tactical version there was only one in stock.

It's a shame ESEE discontinued the clip point ESEE 6. It was an incredible blade.

I think that ESSE makes the best outdoor knife on the market hands down. In Tennessee there is no law against the size of knife you carry and that’s the way it should be.

I have "normal" Esee 4. It's with older flat canvas micarta scales. I have had it over 10 years. Resently I bought Gerber Strongarm. I have to say, I feel that Strongarm's handle feels much more suited for tactical use. Longer grip, rubber surface and guards on both ends of the handle. I have put some vulcanizing tape on the middle of the Esee handle, which makes it grippy. But still, with my medium/large size hands, the Geeber feels more confident.

I have the Strongarm and a Becker BK10. I like to compare those two with any other combat/utility knife. This Esee 4 is definitely on my future purchase list. Thanks for the good review.

I’m in the market for my first Esee but I’m not sure what size I want. This video swayed me towards the 4. Your videos are informative and enjoyable, this is my favorite channel. Keep up the good work and stay safe, brother.

Yes, I bought 2 of the Esee4 , clip points. I believe in "built in redundancy" . If the knife is an effective tool. I also recently purchased a Tops knives, Zero dark 30 with a Tops factory sharpened clip point. The sharpened clip point makes "back cuts" much more effective in a "tactical situation". However, I believe from a pure self-defense situation a double edge dagger like the Cold Steel Taipan in S3V , is better. The Taipan has a wide enough blade to make effective slash cuts and the blade width makes a very large wound channel in thrust attacks . Thrust attacks to the body , accounts for more fatalities than slash cuts.

I saw this for the first time on your other video two days ago ordered it right away. A few years ago I bought the Esee 6 tactical with a regular point not to clip point. The clip points on this knife looks like it would be great for making very fine shavings from fat wood and the regular edge for feather sticks. I'll find out when it arrives this week.

I never knew Esee had a double edged knife, till now! Daniel, I also gravitate towards the tactical such as the serrated double edged Armiger 4, the Szabo express, Cold Steel's drop forged boot knife and I could go on so when you say "double edged", I'm listening AND, there a 99.9% chance that I am also looking at my 1st Esee knife as I watch this video!!! Thank you!!!

The Colsest thing I have is a Natchez bowie in o1 steel. As I've modified it, I put a grind on it like a katana or a mora knife. No relief edge. I love it. I have been using it for everything from a gardening tool to a mountain lion back scratcher for years. Because I've re profiled it, the edge maintenance is very simple steel It, strop it and shave with it.

@@411OutdoorsG'day mate. So I can't find it down here in Australia, but I've found it at BladeHQ. Now I need to examine my State laws re: double edged. I have had an expensive scrape with the Law over this issue in the past. Now, that was a Sykes Fairbairn dagger, double edged, so, obviously illegal (I was Active Military and had an exemption - in theory. Didn't hold up in court ....), but this one I'm not sure about. It's not a full double edge obviously. Only a sharpened swedge really. I have to get it thru customs, and then be legal in my state. No conviction last time. That won't work again ..... :-/

Dont wanna be a well actually. But since you said it's your first esee.you said it's kinda tight pulling the knife out. Dont "pull" the blade out. Pull just enough that it doesnt come out so theres outward pressure then push off on the jimped part of the sheath with your thumb while pulling. Itll come out way easier but the main thing it not gonna fly out when you finally overcome the tension and you won't damage the sheath. A friend or mine asked to check mine out . Yanked it outta the sheath almost cut himself and more importantly cut down some of the retension tab since the plastic is kinda soft. Didnt ruin it but he only did it about 3 times . Not any more time consuming once you get used to it you wanna push off more than you are pulling. Or you already know all this and it was just the angle cause of where you it mounted on you belt lol

I had the ESEE4 HM version, imho a blade of this length should be a bit lighter, maybe around the weight of an ESEE3. Most of the thickness probably isn't needed anyway for combat, although I reckon some might like the handle heavy design for control.
