Some Constructive Criticism from a Fan: 1. Turn your headphones down during recording. Trust me you don’t need it that loud to record. The bleed in the takes get processed WITH the vocal which limits the potential. 2. Mix your vocals in context with the beat. You want your vocals to fit with the beat. You’ll make better decisions EQ and Compression wise. 3. Practice hearing frequencies. The sweeping method you did can cause you to take out frequencies that complement the vocal for the key the song is in. Ditch that style altogether because understanding frequencies will help A LOT in production AND engineering. 4. Be careful with cutting so much low-end in your voice. In some cases it works given the beat or style you’re going for, but know that body in vocals usually resides in the 100-200 Hz. Instead of a low-cut just use a low-shelf or bell band to deal with that frequency range. Use a low cut to cut out unnecessary low-end “rumble” that your voice isn’t really present in. 5. Learn about the parameters of a compressor so you can make better decisions for your vocals (they will change depending on the song). 6. It’s best to create send tracks in FL and send your vocal to a reverb or delay track, which will give you WAY more control. BUUUTTT if you want to continue adding that effect on the vocal directly, I would advise to put the delay before the reverb. The processing works from the top down, so if you have the reverb before the delay, it’ll delay the reverb AS WELL AS the vocal which could cause unnecessary frequency build-up. 7. Be careful with Fresh Air, or anything that adds high-end for that matter. Too much could cause your vocals to get very harsh very quick. A little goes a long way my guy. 8. Try to reach your vocal processing goal with less. Even with stock plugins you can achieve an awesome sound WITHOUT utilizing every insert on a track. For example, you used an EQ for the sweep method and another for the low cut when you could’ve used one to do both (still stop doing the sweep method lol). Usually two EQ’s are used for subtractive THEN additive. Try that method instead. All in all Sharpe, keep doing what you’re doing! I’m a long time engineer and producer and just want to see people grow and succeed in this field. Always be a student to the game! Bless you brother!
agreed with all of these critiques as a fellow music/audio engineer and producer. no shade tho at all sharpe, big fan from day 1 for real, from like 8 years ago or so. keep doing your thing fam
yoo! the maximus clear master and ambience phaser definitely enhanced my vocals! I never checked the pre-settings in maximus, I appreciate you for this!
nahhh bro this guy went in and didnt hold back theres so many youtubers i watch that make the steps and instructions so confusing for no reason, just to sound smart but makes them sound dumber if you get me. thanks man legit immediately subbed.
I am extremely new to music production on FL Studio and have looked at different videos regarding the plugins and how they work. Your video by far, Mr. Sharpe simplified everything and helped me learn and understand how the plugins work. Thank you, kindly for your time in making this vocal mix tutorial video, I sincerely appreciate it. I have subscribed to your channel as well. :)
@@SharpeOnebro I need a help from you.. my track sounds like died vocals and not properly sounding like one track, it sounds like just vocals placed onto the music what can I do to mix my vocals properly like the PUNJABI Artist "SIDHU MOOSE WALA" HELP ME ABOUT IT PLEASE ......
Ive been using Audacity because im always either too intimidated by Fl Studio or I'm normally being told to use expensive plugins so this video is really helpful. Thanks!
In between breathing adds emotion, use the noise gate in the limiter instead. Also add a Desser, when you “Limit” vs “Compressing” you’re inadvertently raising all your sibilants.
I like how after the bare basic effects to make your voice sound good, he left room for other genres that may require more (or just different) vocal processing. Wayy better than everyone else who throws a billion other plugins for no reason to look cool.
Whattup Sharpe??!! This is the first video I seen of your in over 15 years. I watched a lot of your stuff when I was first starting to really work on music a bunch. Great to see you still doing your UA-cam thing. Me and my friends been getting back together to work on music again and been trying to get knowledge up to record in home for my channel. Great video Sharpe 😀
dude this video is literally perfect for beginners on FL, first vid ive seen using the stock autotune as well, great video if ur switching ur DAW to FL too!!
My songs actually sounds so much better now following these steps 🙌🏾 My only issue now is my final song sounds so low, and when I turn it up in fl it just starts peaking real bad 💀
Aye @sharp I wanna give you an OG tip for after u finish everything and wanna give it one final mix …. Turn your headphones down to like the lowest volume … turn every tracks volume all the way down and then one by one turn them up with your headphones at the lowest volume and mix it like that (you will notice your knobs end up a lot lower then where they are now) and then turn the headphones back up and watch how clear everything becomes !! I start with the bass until I hear just enough and I mix the rest kind of around that and then when u turn the headphones back up it’s crazy how everything fits in
ur already creating fresh air effect by adding high end on the second eq, can be good to add for taste but you can do most of what fresh air does with an eq
True, I just love fresh air because it seems like they’re effect is more polished. And I think fresh air does a little more than boost the high end but I’m not exactly sure how it works
that face cam fade is really cool, never seen that before after watching for 7 minutes, wow you’re so talented! you’re really turning your voice into something amazing. love how you break everything down. I know basically nothing about music theory but you told me exactly what I needed to make a track 🔥
sidechain a multiband compressor to duck the frequency range your voice is dominent out of the instrumental. You can tone shape with things other than an EQ. You might want to consider utilizing predelay with your reverb so the dry signal is distinguishable from the reverb tail. If done correctly it won't sound like an echo but it will be just enough delay to where you can keep that clarity in tact.
When you’re using a beat you produced like that you can side chain your vocals to your drum bus so it isn’t overpowered. I would do it to your melody too or at least have the drums and melody bussed together after the drum bus to side your vocals to it
Exactly bro it removes the body from the vocal, it’s hardly preference at that point and just plain poor mixing unless he wants to sound likes in a radio the whole song😂
in 2 years of watching videos before i even get Fl this is the best explained one fs. Only problem is i cant get slate digital to let me download anything.
Appreciate the guidance sir im about to release a song with this mixing method. Im excited to see what people will think about it and I think its a big step up, so I appreciate you keep making vids!!
Please advise people to sidechain the reverb and delay for a better sound other than put it on your vocal track directly promise it’s gon make your life easier
.. Put it on another mixer track.. And then go back to the main track with plugins. And then click on that, go to the track with the reverb, and right click.. Should give you a SIDE CHAIN option
Needed this video bro !! Other producers try n finesse with gimmicks! NOT SHARPE ‼️You are truly the goat 🫡 🐐
Like for real. I got straighten up by watching this

aye bro, my mix was already elite can’t lit but i added the fresh air plug-in and WOW!!! good looks bro 🙌🏽🙏
Where was this video back when I only had stock plugins 😫
This is pretty good thanks for the free plug-in as well. All I did was take the phaser out and added a deesser instead cause there no space for it.
Tried this method today and my god it sounds great THANK YOU
BRO MY MIXES ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD RN THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
glad to see u back on yt!
Hands down the best video on this topic, completely changed my vocals game considering how simple it was.

Brilliant - I am working on this vocal of somebody that sounds horribly off tune, which I am trying to make sound good, and natural

Yoo the phaser and the maximus...never done this before but am actually gonna ve experimenting with this🔥🔥🔥🔥
Cutting your vocals at 265 is crazy bruh lmao, i love ur low end why dou take so much out? sounds thin to me
It’s just a personal preference idk

You can use newtone for autotune touch.
It's best to side chain reverb and delay
