Yup. I did a short video demonstration on mine and even went further explaining the process while even showing myself trying to get it. Very few that have done unboxing and demonstrating it actually show this little secret.
The sounds are trigger by the switches.The Master morpher has four switches and the others have three. The Tommy coins use the fourth switch on the body. The other coins don't have a peg to push that fourth switch. So they don't do anything. But some of the Tommy coins do indeed do something in the previous morphers. But that's only because they share the same pegs as those other coins. Since they lack a 4th trigger, they ignore that fourth peg. Door - Put in the coins from another morpher. So you could display 6 mmpr coins.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on one. I'm very happy with it also. My thoughts are pretty much consistent with yours. My main complaints are just some of the weird voice lines, and that I wish the morpher plates were die-cast. But it's such a cool toy. I love how the brights are SUPER bright, and that the sounds are truly in JDF's voice. I love it.
It's supposed to be silver on the back in that a red movie morpher was used as the base (which means it should have a red strip on the handle). I didn't realise they also did it in the comic (good on Boom for the attention to detail).
The randomness of sounds keeps it fresh. Also I love that it doesn’t tell how to get the secret phrase (it’s a secret lol). Reminds me of like secret boss battles akuma
I think they should have at least had one or two sounds dedicated to the weapons of each Ranger form, like Green Ranger calls for the Dragon Dagger, but that's just what I'd do as well as making sure the lines were what you'd expect as a Tommy morpher, like having the movie morph call of "White Tiger!" for the Tigerzord coin as an extra reference.
I bought 2 of these and even a Hasbro Premium account just to secure it at launch. My first one came 4 days after I ordered it which was incredibly fast. I will agree that no Dino Thunder, Power Up phrase now actually irks me. But this has to be the BEST Lightning Collection item Hasbro has ever released by far.

I saw photos posted by Jason Bischoff as a reference when customizing my Legacy Morpher. It confirmed the back should be silver, with a solid red streak on the top and bottom.
As far as the secret sounds, its usually after a full cycle. But Evil Green you get by holding it twice. The second time you get Haha Keep Trying, just keep holding it. I've gotten it with the other coins too. I think the Turbo one will add the engine rev randomly, like the Tiger roar. And I've found out the luck of even getting Haha Keep Trying depends entirely if you have fresh batteries in it. I threw in old ones and that makes all of the sounds really random. I thought the weird power down glitching sound was an actual glitch at first because of it. 😂
@@MnemonicSyntax "No" wear out your batteries. It's like a low powered off mode that weak batteries don't do anything with unless it flips open. This is my experience. I can't get Haha Keep Trying on weak batteries. Yes. It's supposed to happen every time. But it doesn't. On mine. On weak batteries. Fresh batteries will be fine. Correct harder.

Hasbro should've made this a wide release too. Maybe they thought it would be bad business too though, hence the charity donation thing. I'm sure they'll put it out again after time. Demand will be too high i think. The original Dragon Buckler sells for thousands, i see this easily being that hard to come across in 10-20 years+
If my review of the evil green you got to keep holding the Morpher closed after the first phrase and if you turn the black and pink ranger coins upside down in the Morpher they do act as other Tommy coins
I will say that despite its flaws, I love this thing. Easily one of the coolest toys I've ever had. I think my biggest complaint (aside from QC issues, mine has a small blemish on the front) is that there's no morphin only mode. There should be a switch (including a damn off mode like you said) that allows the user to select from morphin calls and all sounds. I mean, it's supposed to be a roleplay item afterall. But you can't actually rollplay a morphin sequence with it. The morphin mode would ONLY play the power call outs; "Dragonzord", "Tigerzord", "White Ranger Power" (I'm okay with this one being changed though to include Falconzord), "Zeo Ranger Five, Red", "Shift into Turbo/Red Lightning Power", and "Dino Thunder Power Up, Ha".
Yeah I have to say yo in person it looks prettier than it did in the pictures definitely I got mine on Saturday which I was expecting some time after the first but hey not complaining because now I can use the morpher for a convention cosplay. Lawton Mega Con. Honestly if I could have the opportunity to buy another one I would buy another one just to keep it in the box as a collector's piece.

The original lightning coins do nothing because none of them activate a specific switch when inserted. The originals is a 3 switch system while the master uses 4 with the bottom switch always used. Such as the falcon coin reading as sabertooth coin because aside from the bottom switch, the others match up. Sabertooth coin will not read as tiger because it needs to activate the bottom along with its own.
The one thing that I would’ve done to make this master Morpher perfect, is put the actual transformation phrases at the start of the cycle, and then maybe take out stuff that Tommy never actually said. And then also throw in a Kickstarter black dragon coin.
Is there a single voice line that's correct? Or actual references? Besides "it's morphin time" and "dragonzord", everything is either completely wrong or wrong enough to be annoying. I feel like if JDF wrote the dialogue then it would've been perfect, he knew all his iconic phrases by heart and would recite them at conventions or for social media videos. Hasbro's handling of the brand is just so...sloppy.
Honestly I think I'm going to pass. I'm happy with my Legacy Master Morpher. Having a random phrase when I hit the button will drive me crazy. I'm okay with there being multiple phrases and sounds. But when I push the button. I want to hear the morphing call not a random line. Thanks for showing exactly how it works and what sounds it makes 👍.
