You did it, you summoned the Filipinos.
a little birdie told me that there is going to be a 3rd Filipino chef on Bon Appetit...
Hahaha!
@@whataboutitt who was the first?
To my fellow Filipinos please don't fall for this! This is clearly pandering it is insulting! BA knew that a reasonable fraction of their audience are Filipinos. For years BA barely covered Filipino cuisine. Why now BA? Ah yes because BA is losing subscribers because what they've done with their original POC staffs. As a Filipino I'm offended by this!
Hello everyone please subscribe and share enjoy videos appreciate your support all. Much love highly appreciate. God bless ❤️❤️❤️😂😂😂❤️
love how her dad has a tattoo of HIMSELF 😂
This is the quality the new BA needs, someone comfortable in front of the camera, very knowledgeable about food science and a flare for good storytelling to make an engaging video.
The new BA needs to die and you need to feel bad for supporting it
@@FirstNameLastName-tx6td and you need to stop commenting and disliking videos because you're actually doing what they are considering engaging with the audience. By doing these two things you are helping the channel. You're just too stupid to realize that. But here you go at on every single video. If you want this channel to die don't do anything. The more you know!
I'm not going to tell you to feel bad for supporting it, but this is not what BA needs. They needed the old channel, just properly paid....
@@BroadwayBabe131 Regardless of whether or not they retained the entirety of the old cast, the virus still means we can't have normal content yet. Give it time, wait until they can get back into the test kitchen.
@@FirstNameLastName-tx6td lol no
I really liked her energy! I hope she comes back again.
musangs tattoo of musang is the self care we all need to strive for
I saw a bottle of Silver Swan soy sauce on the counter and that's when I knew she's legit. 😄
Me too! Or even Marca Piña
except that there is no such dish in the Philippines.
She seems super comfortable in front of the camera! Is she like already a youtuber or something? Cause she just really seemed like she knew what she was doing talking to a camera
I live in Seattle and I’ve never tried this??? Melissa Mirando is a star of our culinary scene here and I really enjoyed this video
Here comes BA pulling out a filipino cook to appeal to filipino audience knowing they would cling to it like moth to a flame...
Filipinos never shut up about being Filipino, and are always soooo supportive of one another. It’s honestly really cute to see how proud they are!
We are, but I just can’t help thinking this is just another move on BA’s part to seem ‘diverse’. It’s like they’re taking advantage of that nationalistic tendency because that’s another way to get back all the subscribers they lost.
Facts
and theyre right omg
BA has never been the same ever since they have been outed and now they're pandering to a Filipino audience for more views. Yikes basura 🤮
I’ve never had any sort of Filipino food but this dish looks so good and makes me want to go out and get it. I love seafood and noodles 😍
She’s a natural and a joy to watch. Will be waiting for her another video. 🥰
Hi hello the English subtitles are correcting "Tagalog" to "Segalic" :( hope we can fix that
LOL
Can we get a gofundme for BA to buy a tripod so the shaky cam stops.
I really like that shaky though... BA-ish style-signature-cinematic-kind-of-editing-thing-camera
I believe that is a deliberate decision regarding filming direction.
Finally some Filipino cuisine getting some recognition. I will withhold my BA disdain and allow my Fil-Am bias to let me thoroughly appreciate this episode. Melissa is fun and very informative.
Knorr liquid seasoning and Maggi aren't the same. Diff manufacturers and definitely different flavor profiles. I do agree that Knorr has more umami though. I would use that. It's an iconic Filipino "ingredient".
Agree. Knorr is not “also called” Maggi. They’re both brand names
LOL. Same. We had to clean squid, shrimp and fish growing up too! He said it was so we can learn how to cook and because it’s a survival skill 😆
She’s a great teacher! Explains everything clearly. I hope she comes back n does a segment with Brad, Cris or Carla! 😍
Can't wait to try this! Love her energy!
Anyone else looking for Leo’s comment?
Same
BA, brava! It's insane that you've now featured two amazing Filipino chefs and even more insane that Melissa gets to show the BA world a unique dish that might not be something a lot of people would necessarily like initially (I'm Filipino-American and I've never tried pusit pancit before lol)but now that it's in your channel a lot of eyes get to see the awesomeness that is Filipino cuisine which probably many have never tried before. This is what it's about. Inclusivity begets knowledge and understanding and appreciation and diversity and ultimately full stomachs hehe. I've been a fan of BA for a while now and miss the old crew but this new direction is inspiring and just beautiful to see. Representation truly matters and my Filipino heart is doing cartwheels.
That's a lot of Filipino staple foods in one dish! I love it.
She was my nanny when I was a kid in Italy, can't believe she's on BA rn 😂😍
Was she already a cook?
@@TonyValdezCeballos I think so, if I remember correctly
wow, ti ha mai cucinato filippino?
@@brainstorm90 ero abbastanza piccolo quindi non ricordo bene, ma è più che probabile
She gave you a shoutout in the latest BA video! How awesome she was your Nanny. How much Filipino food did she cook toy? And do you crave for it?
Melissa, the dislikes are not cause of you don't worry, its the BA
More of Melissa please!!! We love her!!!
Melissa is amazing! Really fun to watch her :)
I wish I could find squid around my area. Such a great and unique flavor and texture.
Wow I would really like to give this a try!
that looks amazing! definitely going to try and make that!!
She is a great addition. I hope you bring her back for more Filipino recipes, adobong manok or baboy, sisig, sinigang, kaldereta, pancit canton, lumpia, lechon kawali, bistek tagalog, etc. I just made a Chicken Afritada that was tasty. It reminded me a lot of chicken cacciatore.
Loved it! I will try to fetch the ingredients.
💕💖Melissa💖💕 is a keeper. Keep putting her in videos BA!
I feel like Brad, Rawlston, Melissa and Claudette are my current faves of the new and old bunch line up of talent🥰
Salamat (thank you) Bon Appetit for bringing pinoy chefs in your team! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
They didn't. She's a guest.
Don't fall for this. This is just BA being pandering!
I'm not very into seafood. But this looks INCREDIBLY delicious!! 😍👌
Is it possible to somehow know bon appetit is compensating talent appropriately. I hate to fall in love with another food content creator under the illusion that they are being taken care of.
I was wondering the same thing, but then I remembered how many of the old team quit even after new negotiations... I'm guessing they just hired people who conformed with less money.
@@blabhblaja that's so disappointing if true.
@@addie2cents I truly hope it isn’t, but either way that “special” thing that made this channel great is completely lost in my opinion 😔
How much they get paid is none of your business. Don't worry how much they get paid, I'm sure they are happy with the pay and they signed contracts. No one is working there with a gun to their head.
@@givememore4free but don’t you think it’s unfair to the other chefs who had to quit because they weren’t being paid what they deserved?
If they can hire people for cheap it undermines every effort and sacrifice they made to try to be valued as they should. And it doesn’t just happen here..
Tried this dish in her restaurant, multiple times. It is SO good. I'm excited to try making this.
This is one of my favorite dishes.. 😍 delish!!
What a great and informative squid 🦑 vid. I like her!!
WOAH, Just went to Musang! Glad they are blowing up, such a great place with awesome people who do great stuff for the community.
Love this dish.
Such a great personality!
My wife's name is also Melissa and you both cook and make videos on UA-cam 🤩 amazing and delicious!
That's a nice coincidence!
This looks so good! ❤️🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
looks delicious!
More!!! 😁 I hope she comes back with more Filipino food 😋
Ate Mel!!! 👏👏👏
uh Melissa what a Queen!
Fave!!
Aww love her. Love Filipino
ok love her and pansit.
Okay I rlly enjoy the Filipino highlighting, they dont get enough spotlight
this was filmed like how my mom recorded my brothers graduation :'D
God, it’s SO satisfying to see Filipinos killing it in the culinary mainstream. It’s been a long time coming and I’m so happy they get to share a little bit of our culture on this broader stage. Congrats, Melissa! Your dish looks amazing and your dad’s brand of humour feels so familiar to me, like an uncle I had growing up. Can’t wait to visit your restaurant once they open up the border again. 🇵🇭
Looks so delicious!
I'm learning so much about squid!
I miss the old ladies on the street screaming "TINAPAAAAAA"
And dont forget the daing lmao
carat sya uwwuuuu!!!!
the silverswan in the background! hahaha that is my favorite brand of filipino soy sauce.
I'm absolutely loving this new style and new faces. Melissa you are just BRILLIANT!!! LOVING WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS, Doing an amazing job girl. BA: KEEP THIS ONE OR ELSE!!
So BA... Are you going to say why you don't put the recipe in the description?
I checked their website just in case their social media person forgot, and it's not there either. Probably for the best, because I'd absolutely mess this one up.
I love her so much
wow adobong pusit and pancit bihon are two of my mom's fave dishes. it'll blow her mind when i try this
Omg adobong pusit was my favorite growing up😭 Squid out the can lol Never had it with pancit though~
one of my favorite dishes- proud Filipino here!
YUMMM,mum always makes adobo chicken, i've never had it with calamari but it looks so goooodd 😍
Try to pay this one this time BA
We love Melissa!!!
At this point it’s getting almost funny
Great cook and recipe nonetheless
Yup, feels like the Captain Planet of cooking channels. Where's the chef in a wheelchair?
It's what the woke people demanded, now they're saying they don't like it anyways. Who knew? 😏
@@Qwerty-jy9mj WOKE people as you put it, wanted the people of colour to be paid as the white, mostly male employees were paid. NOT THIS OVERT where most everyone hired are people of colour...it smacks of "lipstick on a pig"! Are these new hires paid equally?
@@Qwerty-jy9mj literally the only thing that was asked for was rappo's resignation, and for there to be equal compensation for people featured in their videos
Fantastic!
2:20 gotta get that allicin going 🧄
I love these new people
more of this pls BA
Making my own version of this 🤪
she is infectious!
BA currently feels like a more edited version of Munchies vids...
They lost a lot of good people with their nonsense
Sohla is now working with Binging With Babish, and is honestly way more fun to watch there than she ever was on BA
Great presenter and the food looks amazing.
Melissa came thru with THE GOODS
wow this is the best
gusto ko to!!!!
She is wonderful. Great smile and laugh. The food looks great too. Bring her back, please.
Adobo for the win!!
Loved this, so cute! She has such good energy
You have spoken magic words adobo and pancit ..
We love seeing a kababayan. 👌 good job BA
Wow! they also now have a Filipino chef?! Not gonna fall for that.
sa lahat na nangyari pati paba kami ahahahah 🤣😂😂
Love your dad he's so cute!
Tagalog** not Segalic ???? Closed captions had me wondering if there was another dialect I never heard of lmao
It’s automated, that’s why there are errors in the captions
@@Sapphireemberss no it was in the actual captions.
@@rocknexus5749 The creation of captions is mostly done by AI.

Lol Squisperer. I love pancit I need to make it soon.
Melissa should definitely come back on ba in future videos. That musang energy is such a breath of fresh air
Come through Filipino representation!!! Please bring her back 😊
Wow she was great 😌
good vibe
i imagine once the new chefs get into the test kitchen again a lot of the camaraderie will come she established. these new chefs don’t know one another and the interactions between chefs were a big selling point on the channel. we’ll see what the future holds
OMG!! Yes! One of my favorite pancit dishes. My mom grew up in Cavite where this dish was popularized.
Best new BA personality so far!
I love when they introduce uncommon filipino foods.
Adobong pusit is love!❤️❤️❤️
Finally a Filipino Chef!
this looks SO good!!!
Love Melissa! I’ve had the pleasure of eating at Musang and the Adobo Pusit Pancit is soooo good!
She is fabulous, but I have no idea where to purchase most of these ingredients.
Pinoy pride! This is so exciting
