This is one of my favorite foundations along with EL double wear. Chanel is lighter coverage and more natural looking. This is my go-to for the weekends or when I'm in a hurry. The packing is great for travel and doesn't have to be set with powder.
I also have this foundation on the wish list. I had told myself I will not buy anymore until I use one the the ones that I have in my current routine. This is Angie's from hot and flashy holy grail foundation. It really is beautiful!!!
Yes, I've seen her review on it! I don't think it's my HG but I do think it's truly lovely! I'm with you...unless I find my one true HG...I'm just going to try to sample or get travel sizes if I can!
I want this foundation soooo much! I had a sample and loved how it wore. I also love how it doesn't feel like I had any makeup on. I too have too much foundation at present to purchase this but it's tempting!
This is my all time favorite foundation. I originally tried it after Angie from hot and flashy talked about it. For me, this foundation wears beautifully. But like you, I also really like both of the Double Wear foundations, and I find that I use them all with equal enjoyment at different times. I'm new to your channel, but I really love this foundation road test and look forward to watching more.
I am in Alabama. It is HUMID here, but NOLA is worse than here....so the humidity comments in the testing are super valuable. I really look forward to your videos! Thank you! Robin
Im from Fla and right now everything is melting off-unbelievably humid bc of so much needed rain. This foundation might work for these days on drier skin.
This foundation looks so natural and absolutely beautiful on you! I didn't have such luck. I felt like it was a little too matte and drying. It initially went on looking great, and felt so light-weight as if I had nothing on my skin. However, towards the end of the day it accentuated even the most minuscule dry patches on my skin. My skin changes through the seasons and gets dry during the New England winters. I'm going to try this again once the weather warms up. Maybe then I'll have better luck.
I feel like it could possibly accentuate dry flaky areas, esp if applied with a brush. Have you tried their aqua foundation? I feel like dry skinned people tend to like it a bit more. Thank you Melissa!
Stephanie Marie. I haven't tried the Aqua yet, but intend to. I'm hoping it will suit my skin better than the velvet. Thanks for your response. I enjoy your videos very much.
The make up artist that you couldn't remember her name for sure is Stephanie Lange. She applies the Chanel with a dry sponge and gets a beautiful look also. I love her videos too!
Thank you the finger application was working horrible for me and I had already purchased it I can’t wait to try a water based primer and a dry sponge thank you so muck🥰
Love your honest and thorough reviews. I brought this foundation on vacation with me to Hawaii where there is a lot more humidity than at home and it still performs well. I have combination sensitive skin. The Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet comes in a black plastic bottle which is great for traveling. Somehow I forgot my beauty blender so I've been applying it with my fingers and using the Hourglass Veil Primer. It applies easily and covers pretty well, just adding a little bit of Tarte Shape Tape for concealing. I also like the Shisheido Synchro Skin. The foundation I've been using for years is Lancome Teint Idol, the original that comes in the bottle (I don't like the stick or cushion formula as well). We seem to have similar coloring in foundations, have you ever done the complimentary Color IQ at Sephora? Ii was wondering because I wear the same shades as you do in the Chanel & Shisheido Synchro. I have light to medium skin and my Color IQ is 2Y07 (the 2 indicates the amount of yellow in my skin out of a 7 possible). In different formulas I can either be in the warm or neutral spectrum.
+CuteYellow Lab Hi! I've done it and have gotten 2Y05, 2Y07 and 3Y06. Lol! I don't place too much stock in it bc when I look at some of my foundations they're all over that map. It could depend on the time of year too though. That's good to know about the Chanel and heat/humidity bc that's what we have most of the year here. Thanks so much for your input! :)
This is my holy grail foundation and I love how smooth it is on the skin. My skin is normal to dry and I always use a primer. I top the foundation with the It cosmetics no more pores powder. Love it!
I love this foundation, Boots has a generic version of this called Superlight, but they only sell it in England! I also love the Shishedo powder foundation!
Stephanie, when I woke up this morning and seen you finally posted this video, I got the biggest smile and ran to my room to get my iPad! So excited you finally got to try this! I am so going to try the dry beauty blender method because this Wisconsin winter has got my skin so dry around my chin and we're I smile, I actually had to use my La Mer foundation a lot lately and can I say I finally got the La Mer translucent powder and their brush and I was able to finally go back to my Chanel foundation last night and that powder is BEAUTIFUL (although expensive 😣) on top to set. I also use the bye bye pores blurring loose powder and that is just Perfection for my finicky sensitive skin. Hides any pores very well! I've tried a few different primers, Smashbox Light, Laura Mercier, and even the Magic BB all in one by L'Oréal?? I think? The one that comes out white but has little pigments to match your skin tone and all of these have wore well! Anyway I could go on about my holy grail, you already know that! Thank you so much Stephanie for doing this review, you really do listen to your subscribers and for that, I love you!
Hello- I have this foundation and it's ok for me- it's not my favorite foundation though. I love how thorough your reviews are. Can't wait to hear about the next chanel foundation.
Thank you for the great review and video! Your foundation road tests are always so thorough, they really help me decide if I want to try a product or not. Especially these more expensive foundations. Great job! 👏👌😊
Hi Stephanie. Thanks for this review. I just found you and am glad I did. Im in love with this foundation. Been using it for over a year. I’m much older than you and have much more to cover lol. But I have never tried using the dry beauty blender method. May just get a bit more coverage than just using my fingertips. Thanks so much honey. Just a grandma trying to look my best. Be Blessed. 💕🌹💕
Could the red spot be a petechiae? I don't know which shade to get 20 or 30. I am leaning towards 30. There are no local stores that sell this. P.s. Your hair looks great! So shiny.
The foundation looks beautiful on you! Weird question - do you typically wear the same mascara every day? Your lashes looked amazing in the selfie you posted, and you've listed Tarte's Maneater mascara in the description box of a lot of your recent videos. Thanks!
I don't. BUT over the past month or so I've been alternating between using Lash Sensational WP as my first coat and topping with either Tarteist or Maneater as my second coat. Sometimes I do Super Sizer WP topped with TF BTS as my second coat. But I was really trying to give the two Tarte mascaras a good trial. :)
I just got two sample vials of this foundation yesterday! Great minds think alike. I have dry skin, but I am going to try amoisurizing primer oil under it. I dont think this will work for my skin, but I will try out a few things before I give up. I like the Aqua line in Chanel, but want more coverage.
I used a oil yesterday, and basically I felt I had no coverage. I put the face oil on, let it set in while I did some chores, and then did my make up. I will try one more time with Beenigma mosturizer under, but if I have to go through this much trouble, I will not pruchase it, but giving it a fair try since I love the smell of Chanel products-I am crazy that way!!!
Glad you like the Foundation, that's the one, that Angie of Hot & Flashy likes...It looks good on you Stephanie...Ha ha ha funny Luke sleeping all this time, then looks up..cute...Have a great week....Hugs :D
It can accentuate dryness when applied with a brush. I prefer using a sponge most of the time for this reason...if I ever have any texture issues, flakes or dryness, a sponge doesn't bother it. :)
This is my #1 foundation, I've been using it for about a year...It's the best I've found. I use It CC cream on days I don't have to be anywhere. Great Review!!
I get the red dots, red moles (cherry angiomas) and if you choose, you can make it go away! I have done this several times with great results. Take a needle, or a pin head, or even the end of a paperclip, depending on how big the red spot is, heat it with a lighter, and touch it quickly to the spot. It will cauterize it and it will scab, heal and disappear. Voila! :-D P.S. You can insert the needle into an eraser or the like so you can hold it without burning your fingers.
I have this only for special occasions lol also I now have my shape tape Steph & I love it 😍 can you remind me the lip sugar scrub you preferred over the tarte sugar scrub? 🌸
Jane Burke it was the E.L.F. one in a stick, they're only $3.00 each on Ulta and come in a couple flavors! I ordered some the day I watched her review lol, they are nice and taste good too!
Nikki Calnin Sure. The velvet one I find has not as smooth as a finish nor does it have much coverage. I just like the way the Aqua goes on my skin, more like skin but with more coverage. Not sure if that helps or not but I am not a fan of my Velvet one. Doesn't blend in nice for me, looks splotchy.
Interesting because for me the Velvet goes on very smoothly and has just enough pigment to cover a little discoloration I don't have a whole lot that I need covered I just need something to even out my skin tone and blur my pores and Fine Lines! I mean I love the idea of full coverage but everything full coverage for me ends up getting really shaky and just doesn't wear well after a few hours but I may try a sample and give this one a shot! Thank you so much for getting back to me
I have many of those red "dots" on my body. They are cherry angiomas or hemangiomas. They do increase in size over time and I've had to have a few removed.
Hi! Here are all of my updated foundation shade matches. There are a couple of Chanel matches in it. I'm pretty consistent with my shade across their foundations: www.stephaniemarieblogs.com/2017/09/nc25-matches/ . 🥰
New sub here! Really enjoyed your review- very thorough. I am still heartbroken that Chanel discontinued Perfection Lumiere original 😢 I have normal to dry sensitive skin. I'm tempted to try this. I really appreciated how long lasting the original PF was. And it was my perfect color match. Anyways- glad I found your channel through Risa Does Makeup 👍🏼
I have similar red dot around the same area.... I blamed mine on wearing glasses periodically (while driving). ....hmmm now I'm wondering if that is what it is...
I wore both this week and really do like both. But I'm leaning towards the Chanel slightly....just slightly. Not enough to ditch my Synchro b/c I really do love it. But when it runs out...like 20 years from now (LOL!!!)....I'll probably replace it with the Chanel.
Hi Stephaine, I tried this maybe 3 years ago and didn't care for it. It seemed to cling to dry patches I didn't know I had. May have to give it another go after watching you. What was the primer that broke you out? Only reason I ask is I was interested in that new purple one by Becca. As always Great Review!!! xxoo
Beverly Saylor ...it was the purple one. The picture of the breakout/rash and the comments were at the end of the video. It was an impressive rash. Robin
Hi Beverly! Wednesday's video was on the new purple Becca primer. I reviewed it and compared it to their Backlight priming filter. You may wanna check that out! LOL! But just because it gave me a rash, doesn't mean it will give you one...I may not be the norm! Thank you! :)
chanel vitalumier aqua is one of my favorite foundation . I like to apply by fingers with all sheer coverage foundation :-) I had luck with chanel foundation in general. poor my wallet haha
This is one of my favorite foundations along with EL double wear. Chanel is lighter coverage and more natural looking. This is my go-to for the weekends or when I'm in a hurry. The packing is great for travel and doesn't have to be set with powder.

I am in Alabama. It is HUMID here, but NOLA is worse than here....so the humidity comments in the testing are super valuable. I really look forward to your videos! Thank you! Robin
I agree! Foundation can MELT off my face. That's one reason why I've always tried out so many! :) Thanks Robin!
Im from Fla and right now everything is melting off-unbelievably humid bc of so much needed rain. This foundation might work for these days on drier skin.

Cyndee Cochrane Lol I do the same thing! I use the bye bye pores blurring powder over this to set as well! Beautiful and my favorite!
I love how it seems to work for so many people with different skin types!
What primer do you use?🙂
Need to try this-I have heard 2 great reviews now! Thanks again for a thorough investigation!
Thanks Elaine!
Great review, thank you Stephanie!
Thank you!
I have this foundation and can't decide if I like it. Going to try the dry BB and see how that does. Great review!
And try it with and without a primer too! Good luck! Thanks!
I love this foundation, Boots has a generic version of this called Superlight, but they only sell it in England! I also love the Shishedo powder foundation!
I got a sample of this in the SAKS Christmas catalog tried it today and ordered it. Love it. Now I'm coming to see if anyone else liked it.
Stephanie, when I woke up this morning and seen you finally posted this video, I got the biggest smile and ran to my room to get my iPad! So excited you finally got to try this! I'm glad I finally tried it too! It really is a lovely foundation. I reached the end of my sample yesterday and was sad! :( Thanks Nikki!
I got it today. I’m amazed. For the first time in my life I’m not shiny
I love this foundation. Thanks. Hello from the Dominican Republic
Hello- I have this foundation and it's ok for me- it's not my favorite foundation though. I love how thorough your reviews are. Can't wait to hear about the next chanel foundation.
Thank you so much Jodi!
Thanks for making this video! I want this Chanel and also the hourglass stick so bad!!!
Thank you for the great review and video! Your foundation road tests are always so thorough, they really help me decide if I want to try a product or not. Especially these more expensive foundations. Great job! 👏👌😊
+Heather Graff I'm so glad you enjoy them! Thanks Heather!

Love 💘 the foundation on you. Could you do a road test with the channel loose and compact powders to see how it looks thank you!
It looks great on you!!!
I need this foundation in my life!

I would love for you to try the neutrogena hydro boost hydrating tint foundation!!
+Erin Janda I just watched Leighannsays' favorites where she talked about this one. It sounds interesting!
Great review thanks!!
Thanks!
This is my favorite foundation. Have you tried the Neutrogena Hydroboost Tint? Love the finish, but not much coverage.
+D Smith I haven't had much luck with neutrogena in the past. I haven't tried that one.
You had a rash and put cortisone and Benadryl on your face- I've done that too! It was because of a sunscreen.
Glad you like the Foundation, that's the one, that Angie of Hot & Flashy likes...It looks good on you Stephanie...Ha ha ha funny Luke sleeping all this time, then looks up..cute...Have a great week....Hugs :D
Yes it is the one she loves! Thank you Martha! Have a great week! 😊
great review
Thank you! :)
I'm combo and found this foundation drying. Maybe I need to revisit and try different primers and application. Granted, I only tried it twice.
I have a travel size of that to review shortly as well. :) Thank you Sheri!

It was Stephanie Lange, that used a dry beauty blender.
Thank you Sue!!
the dog is so cute
I have this only for special occasions lol also I now have my shape tape Steph & I love it 😍 can you remind me the lip sugar scrub you preferred over the tarte sugar scrub? 🌸

Nikki Calnin Cheers Nikki 👍I'm definitely getting a few xxx
Hi Jane! I still like my Tarte scrub! :) I just like the Elf one too! :)
Stephanie Marie I'd like to try the Tarte one, I love Tarte products! But $3?! That's awesome! And I can share with my girls!
I have the velvet and the aqua and I prefer the AQUA! XOXO
Tracy Nastiuk can you tell me how they differ? I haven't tried the Aqua, just wondering what you like best about it! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing Tracy!

Nikki Calnin I'm 46 so I get what you mean about full coverage, they are both light coverage but for me, the aqua goes on better. :)
I have many of those red "dots" on my body. They are cherry angiomas or hemangiomas. They do increase in size over time and I've had to have a few removed.
Interesting! This one has been here and the same size for a long time. I'll keep an eye on it!
Hi stephanie, have you try the chanel les beiges? Just in case, i wann know what shade are you in that foundation? Thank you. 😊
Hi! Here are all of my updated foundation shade matches. There are a couple of Chanel matches in it. I'm pretty consistent with my shade across their foundations: www.stephaniemarieblogs.com/2017/09/nc25-matches/ . 🥰

+Jenni Lepp Thank you and Thanks for subbing Jenni!
What primer do you find it works best?
My favorite is Hourglass Veil.
Thanks, this was my first thought. Going tomorrow to get a color match!
I have similar red dot around the same area.... I blamed mine on wearing glasses periodically (while driving). ....hmmm now I'm wondering if that is what it is...
I've never worn glasses often. Mine has been there since high school or college I think? For as long as I remember!
Thank you for this video. How do you compare this to Synchro Skin and which one do you prefer?
I wore both this week and really do like both. But I'm leaning towards the Chanel slightly....just slightly. Not enough to ditch my Synchro b/c I really do love it. But when it runs out...like 20 years from now (LOL!!!)....I'll probably replace it with the Chanel.

+Beverly Saylor Lol! It's ok! It happens! :)
chanel vitalumier aqua is one of my favorite foundation . I like to apply by fingers with all sheer coverage foundation :-) I had luck with chanel foundation in general. poor my wallet haha
Haha! I completely understand! :)
It’s called a strawberry mole/mark
Your red mark on your face is probably just a strawberry mole. Good foundation review.
