Hello Hot&Flashy Nation!! I'm getting so many questions about why the foundation was in the fridge! I don't normally keep foundation in the fridge but I had bought 3 bottles of Perfection Lumiere Velvet when I first heard it was being discontinued (as backup) and I had those 3 in the fridge. The one I currently use is on my desk but it's about 6 months old so I wanted to compare fresh products & got a new one out of the fridge! Have a great day! xo ~angie
Just wanted to say you look great. Im not saying you look great for your age because you look no where your age and I don't like when people say that. You look even better and younger then you did when I started following you aprox 4 years ago. So with all that you do to keep staying younger looking it is working. God bless,💞
Hi Angie, well this foundation loves you. They should consider you a sponsor for Chanel!!! It looks amazing on you and you must be very happy!!! Love your up close :) Hugs n Love xoxo
So my aunt has been a Chanel makeup artist for decades. One of the few still left working at a counter! She said they did a slight reformulation on it to make it better. She said a huge problem with the original is that it was just a little too thick and would get stuck in the bottle. She said she would have such a hard time squeezing it out of the samples! She also said the new one isn’t as matte as the original. Hope this helps! 🖤
Thank you for the comparison review! I too was panicking when I found out Chanel was discontinued and I just purchased the new version last night. So happy it did not really change! My holy grail
This is my new HG foundation. It looks so beautiful on. It is luminous, but not shiny. It blurs the skin and looks like a soft focus filter. I swear I look 10 years younger with this on. Thanks for the recommendation. Love it!
Ok! Happy to see they are basically identical. I had already purchased a back - up of the old one but now I'm happy to see there are no major upheavals ;)
I FINALLY got a sample of this today and OMG what took me so long?? It really is perfection. I got the same colour as you too and it's the perfect skin tone match. Thank you so much for your reviews. I'm running back to the Chanel counter as we speak!
Angie, I searched videos on a Chanel foundation that you tried and it was a video from 8 years ago. I have to say that your complexion looks better today that then!
I felt your apprehension about the new foundation. I cant tdll you how many of my fave perfumes and lipsticks have been discontinued! I am so happy for you! I think I may try this!
Excellent job as usual. Angie, you are the best, pure and simple. Thank you for saving my favorite foundation. I agree Chanel should add you to their spokesperson model talent
I am so glad I found this video because I was in tears trying to locate the original formula -I needed someone to tell me what to use to replace it! Thank you so much!
It seems like although the colour range has increased, all the new colours lean towards the pink end of the spectrum. For those of us with yellow/golden undertones, it doesn't look so good :(
Love this foundation so much. I love it even more with Murad invisiblur over of it instead of powder. Extra blurring without dryness plus more sunscreen! It's my only "must have" that I didn't get from Angie.
Hi Shelly: Can you share the exact name of that Murad product you mentioned please. I saw 2 that are similar in name but would like to research the one you use with this foundation. Thank You 🌿🕊️💕🌍
@@1Wendy_Woo It's Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 30. It's $65 on Ulta but I buy it on ebay. Just bought a pack of 3 last night for $60. It is AMAZING. Reminds me of the blurring tool on some of these apps used to alter pics. The first time I used it I could barely believe my eyes. Erases pores and wrinkles without any drying.
What a relief! I am 74 years young and the Perfection Lumiere Velvet was the only foundation not to settle into my (many) wrinkles. I have pretty good skin for my age normal to dry. However the foundation does not work for me when I use sunscreen. So now I use a day cream with SPF 50 and the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer. Not to worry I am not using foundation every day so my skin still gets plenty of sun protection most of the time! Thanks again for making my day! Love Ingrid
Your hairstyle being different on both sides tricked my eyes a little bit because I saw one side quite different in the beginning, when you showed the longshot of your face. Then when zoomed in, they looked essentially the same. I'm glad they didn't change the formula too much because it really is gorgeous. It looks amazing on you. Thanks for the video!
I guessed right, but I really couldn’t tell a difference. I thought perhaps the original side looked more matte/velvety... but I was reaching. Haven’t watched the whole video yet, but thanks for your thoroughness!!!! You’re amazing!
Love love love your attention to detail! Making absolutely sure you compare things equally and cover all possible bases that might raise questions (or try to, at least!). I really want to try this, just a bit pricey for me...maybe with a gift card one day!
Hi Angie, I currently use a Bobbie Brown product, BUT got a sample of the new Chanel foundation in a magizine blow in. Tried it today and I am now a convert! Will switch out my holy grail, once the other one is empty. Thanks!
Hi Angie! I originally tried the Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet because of your review and I’ve been wearing it ever since. I watch your videos all the time and I really value your opinion. I’m 41 and my skin is very similar to how you describe yours as being very combination and when I heard that they were discontinuing the lumiere velvet I totally panicked. I have tried so many other foundations and none of them come close to this one. Thank you so much for doing a review. You are awesome!
Another great, informative video, and you are gorgeous! At the beginning of the video, the original foundation, appearing to us on your right side as you look into the camera, that side looked almost a shade darker than new one, on our left. But as the video progressed, I saw no difference in shade, texture, or coverage. I'm 54, I love a beautiful, relatable woman, hence, "HotandFlashy"!
I guessed correctly and its a great improvement and color shade cooler undertone even with the same color 30 beige. You caught some interesting details in the ingredient list. I am going to try the new one. Even with my dry skin, the original looked fine, so looking forward to the new formula. Thanks so much Angie!😊
You nailed it! The first difference I noticed immediately is the the colour on your left side was darker/ashier than the right side (your left and right) not knowing which one was the original or the newer formula. And then you said it! You noticed yourself that the newer formula was warmer than the old formula. Either way though, you look fabulous!! Thank for comparing the two.
You should try the reformulated CHANEL Ultra Le Teint Ultrawear foundation, the one that comes in the frosted glass bottle. I'm oily and also swear by Velvet, but that one offers full coverage and perfected skin with a comfortable wear like I've never seen before.
Your eye make up is always applied so elegantly. You absolutely know how to do the very best to enhance your face and I’m always impressed. I saw absolutely no difference whatsoever between the two foundations but I don’t think I have as good an eye as you do :-)
Thank you so much for your attention to detail in these reviews, ever peppered with humorous interludes. Our ages are similar, but the similarities in our skincare journeys end there. However I'm able to extrapolate your advice to my dry, sensitive, post-menopausal and estrogen-deprived skin, I'll miss the translation on occasion. This foundation is a huge miss for me. I live in a rural, cosmetics deprived zone and ventured to a Nordstrom Chanel counter to explore this -- your dedication to it so compelling. The lovely Chanel rep gave me two generous samples in different colors. The finish - during application -- is beautiful and natural. Immediately, it seems to find any dry patch I may have, it feels drying on my face, and the chemical sunscreen (boo!!) irritates my skin from minute one. I can't wait to wash my face. If I make my face more comfortable with a hyped up moisturizing routine, this foundation never melds to my skin (resulting in a different, dreaded polka dot pore look). I salute you for slogging through the foundation world with regularity, wearing things (repeatedly, with different techniques) through epic fails. I'm glad this is a big winner for you!
I do think the new shade looks a little better on you. It appears just slightly more rose and makes your skin look a little more alive, if that makes sense! Glad to hear that performance is the same. I have about half a bottle left of the old version and will use that before I run out to buy the new one. Hopefully I will get a tester and be able to determine my shade. Thank you so much for doing this Angie and we all appreciate your thoroughness in testing foundations.
Hi Angie, You are not kidding! This foundation is perfection on your skin. It looks amazing. I am happy it functions the same as the old one. Great review, as always.
I am so glad I found this video! I tried to order my perfection lumiere velvet the other day and was devastated to see if had been discontinued! Thanks as always!
I am thankful you mentioned you keep your backup ones in the frig. I ordered 5 backups of mine and have moved them to the frig. I'm glad they are virtually the same but it will be a while before I try out the new one. This is by far my favorite foundation. It does not look cakey or even like I'm wearing much foundation so when I heard it could be discontinued, I went and bought backups as well. :-)
Thank goodness the Ultra Le Teint Velvet is as great as the Perfection Lumiere Velvet!! Can't wait to pick up a 42 Beige Rose. Since I ran out of the PLV this spring, I splurged and bought the Le Beiges Water Fresh Tint in Medium Plus. I really like it, but it's just a tint. Thanks much Angie for taking care of your gals who love the holy grail and your channel :))
I really couldn’t tell a difference between the two. So glad you did this! I started wearing this foundation bc of you...actually, I’ve changed my skin care routine & more bc of you! You’re the BEST!
Congratulations on figuring out that the Chanel still works! I had to look up what "la teint" means and it means "the complexion" - so the new formula title in English would be something like "Chanel Ultra Velvet Complexion". Not bad! I never understood why you liked it soooo much but seeing how well it performs in all conditions and how natural it looks, I finally get it. (Also - love the rocker chick vibe of today's look - perfect for, say, a Fleetwood Mac concert!)
I love this idea! We can all wear them when Angie does her next meet up! I get compliments on my skin about 1x/month, honestly and I always tell people "It's because of Hot & Flashy Angie." If I had, I mean, when I have, my Hot & Flashy Nation t-shirt I can just point to the logo when people comment on my glowing skin.
I really couldn't tell the difference. I suppose maybe if I saw them in person, I might could but no matter, it's beautiful. I think I may have to try this foundation. It's one that I'll have to save up for while I use up my current foundation.
Whew! Glad Chanel did us right! I have been traveling a ton this summer and I so appreciate how lightweight the packaging is and how count-onable the makeup is!
The video was great on the comparison of the old and new formula! I was so interested in what you had to say, I did not take a sip of my coffee! Will finish it now. Lol
Epic review, Angie! ‘Chanel vs Chanel, Velvet vs Velvet’ 😂 This is also my favourite Chanel foundation, although I also love the ultra long lasting and the healthy glow almost equally, depending on my mood. I am SO relieved they’ve kept it pretty much the same, it seems. Thank you so much for this post. You’re a legend!
Hi Angie I really can’t tell a difference. Both sides look equally great! I’ve never tried this foundation. Im glad your favorite foundation hasn’t changed. Thanks for the review. 💕
Lumiere is on your left side. It's more luminous. Ok, I was right, but they really are the same, aren't they. I'm so happy for you and everyone else who uses the Chanel foundation. Whew! xo~linda
Even though I can’t use this (alcohol/fragrance) I’m genuinely thrilled for you ladies who love it! So many of my HGs have disappeared or been reformulated beyond recognition that I was actually 🤞🏻nervous for you.
Thank you for such in-depth analysis between the two. I have not come across anyone like you with so much knowledge with makeup, skin care and with clothes. Thanks so much for super quality videos!
Awww, Angie I am so Happy for you!💕💕 Thank you for describing the difference between the 2 & Thank Goodness it wasn't a big difference! Yeah! We are so lucky to have you! This is such a Happy Day!💕💕💕🌻💕💕xoxo
So I'm finally going to try this foundation! I have to find it to see it in person, I wonder if Sephora carries it, or Belks which is near me. So glad to see this review and know its available and not different than original. Fantastic review, thanks again Angie!
From the nature of your title question... I think the new formula is even better than the old one! Let's see if I guesses right. Ready steady go... with your video now! ✩✩✩ Update: I... almost got it. They are head to head. Great! Thanks, Angie! ♡♡♡
Finally I bought this today !!!!! So excited to try it on myself for a few days in a row and give it a good wear test , but I like what the girl in the store did , thank you Angie 💖💁🏻👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
So happy for you that it's still your holy grail. I loved just about everything about the original except as you always said it's not for people with dry skin which is what I have. It looked good on me for awhile but then I would feel like my face was tightening up and feeling dry. I would also see creasing around my eyes and forehead so I was hoping the new formula would be more moisturizing. Oh well.
I’ve never been so excited for a video. I did guess right. I think it looks more luminous but as you said it could be the lighting. I ordered my new foundation after watching this video and commented on the Chanel website that I only ordered the new formula after seeing your video.
I can’t tell a difference!! Thank goodness! My daughter and I both tried out this foundation last year per your “glowing” haha, reviews and we love it!!! Excited to see it’s still available!! Thanks for your amazingly in-depth reviews, it’s why we love you! 🥰🥰🥰
I feel like I can see that the old Lumiere is a bit more pinkish, it shows more around your jawline. The new one matches your skin better, but I love that foundation on you, it’s beautiful! Great review! ❤️
Thanks for the testing and the comparisons Angie! I bet you are delightfully relieved you still have your holy grail. It's great they added more shades which definitely was needed. Have a great day ! xo Jackie
You're right side color matches better. People always smear on way too beige way too yellow and I'm always wondering what's going on and how they correct it with pounds of other products
Whew! Also my holy grail and we wear the same color! Glad the replacement is equal to the original! Thanks for doing the testing. My bottle is almost empty and I was terrified to start the hunt for a replacement and now I know what to get! 😀
Oh my gosh, I'm so relieved! I've been trying out your other top foundations but none have worked as well as the holy Grail... Soooo excited to order my next bottle. Thanks so much Angie!
Thank goodness for that! The UK have yet to get the new one yet, but I’m in Florida in Oct so may treat myself. I may be treating myself whilst there to lots I fear!
Thank you soooo much!!!! I tried a sample of the older formula and loved it. I heard about the "new" and was afraid that it wouldn't be as perfect. Your video made me feel better and now I'll purchase it! Urban Decay changed their Naked Skin formula and it's not working for me. No worries now with Chanel!
So glad you get to keep your HG! I wish it performed on me the way it performs on you - my skin is much drier than yours, and the Chanel breaks up on my tzone and generally looks blotchy on my tzone. Maybe it's my application technique ... I will keep trying different approaches to see if I can get it to work. I have not found a HG foundation yet (Tarte BB cream has come the closest), so it may be me - I am a total amateur in the makeup department.
I'm going to order 32 (Rose). To me, the biggest difference is the shade. I think originally 30 B was a light-medium beige which leaned a bit more cool-toned. Now it appears they dialed it back to lean a little more "peachy" neutral. And added 32 Beige Rose for more cool tones. The only thing that concerns me is this new trend of making light peach the cool factor which is just wrong. I hope they haven't done that but I expect Chanel to get it right, besides its probably 60% of their demographics in France. This video was so helpful in many ways but the swatches where priceless! Thanks!!
I was just looking at that one the other day. YSL All Hours is my HG... have you seen a difference between the two or is one just more dewy? YSL & Chanel are difficult to find samples of around me. Thanks!
You were awesome. Thanks for the research! I hardly wore makeup for a yr! I went shopping for this product today at Ulta and when I got home I realized the name of the bottle was different. I'm pretty sure I picked the right product the only difference is the new name and new formula that is slightly tweaked. I did get the sides wrong btw. The new formula looks a tiny more natural, I prefer the matte look! That's why I got the sides wrong. I thought new would be matte looking. Though in most of your clips both sides look the same! Must be the lighting!
Hi Angie! I hope this question isn't too long and makes sense. I follow you religously so thank you for all of your help with my skincare! Ok, I do your anti-aging routine which I love but I have a problem with my makeup caking mid day and I keep switching things up to see which part of my routine isn't working. I have combo skin, am 54, and in the mornings start with a clean face, then 5 drops of Timeless Vit C Ferulic, then Ordinary Lactic Acid, then Timeless Coenzyme Q10, then moisturize and then Aus SPF 50 tinted Mineral sunscreen (which I love and it doesn't irritate my skin). I must use sunscreen bc I'm using the Curology Tretinoin at night etc. I have tried the primers you've recommended, putting it all on and waiting 20 min for it to dry etc. I work out early mornings and go to work, so that's the most time I really have to wait. I also use the Channel holy grail foundation (now the new one), and LOVE it. It's not heavy but covers like a dream so I don't want to switch foundations. Do you have ANY suggestions? I'm at a loss! It's so embarrasing to see my makeup doing that at work halfway through the day! Or maybe you could do a video on how to avoid foundation caking for those of us that need all of this product but maybe it's the application. HELP! Thank you!
Hope you dont mind me chiming in but you are putting on 6 products before putting on foundation. Its no wonder things are sliding around, I can only manage 1 product + foundation. What I do is put the other items on when Im just hanging out at home or at night. Good luck.
-is also my dilemma! For me i have dry and dehydrated skin and im working in flights so i need a good layer of hydration. My foundation looks ok for the first few hours in flight but after 5 hours, the foundation looks like sitting on my skin and on the part near the bridge of my nose the foundation looks like its separating.
Hello Hot&Flashy Nation!! I'm getting so many questions about why the foundation was in the fridge! Omg! Angie we need Hot and Flashy nation t-shirts
The close up shows the new one looks much much better. Like no doubt
I absolutely couldn’t tell the difference. Both sides are beautiful!
Sephora doesn’t carry it. I don’t think Belk does either. Dillard’s, MACY’s and Nordstrom do.
That is really pretty foundation....so soft looking....love the consistency....looks like it works....
From the nature of your title question... I think the new formula is even better than the old one!
Let's see if I guesses right.
Ready steady go... with your video now! ✩✩✩
Update: I... almost got it. They are head to head. Great! Thanks, Angie! ♡♡♡
Maggie did you guess correctly? Don’t leave us hanging! 😁
@@Just-Nikki
Almost: they turned out to be head-to-head! ;-)))
Finally I bought this today !!!!! So excited to try it on myself for a few days in a row and give it a good wear test , but I like what the girl in the store did , thank you Angie 💖💁🏻👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I could not tell a difference! Both sides look great- thanks for another great review!!
Hey Angie! SUCH a good review!! I just got the new one, it was good to see how you apply it, do you usually wear a primer underneath it? ❤️ Lisa
You're the best at demonstrating foundation wear !
So happy for you! I don't see myself getting to a point where I spend $50 on foundation, but if I do, I will for sure give the Chanel a try!
Oh well.
I think I like the color of the new foundation better. As always, you look beautiful!
I’ve never been so excited for a video. I did guess right. I think it looks more luminous but as you said it could be the lighting. I ordered my new foundation after watching this video and commented on the Chanel website that I only ordered the new formula after seeing your video.
I'm so happy for you that it's the same! It's no fun when your favorite product is discontinued!
So happy that it did not change!
I just got mine new formulation in the mail yesterday, used it today and I love it! thank you for your loving it so much too!
New one is on your right, the colours lighter and less matte
Gianna S my aunt works for Chanel and she said the new formula is less matte ☺️
Rachel Brook then I will definitely buy it as I prefer more luminous foundations. Thanks for your feedback, hope you have a great day 💕
I guessed wrong and thought the old one looked better - more glow and velvety xx
I would love to try this but in ths UK chanel will not give out samples. I am worried to spend £40 on it incase it's not my holy grail.
If you find a nice enough counter they will. I managed to get one at the Bristol Debenhams.
Angie, I totally thought of you with saw they reformulated. I just received mine and am wearing it today. 😊 Great review!
You look great in both foundation new and old one. Both looked the same.
Thanks!!
Thanks Cindy! So happy the swatches helped you out!!
Hi Angie! Can you please test the YSL touche Eclat Easy All-in-one Glow foundation? I use it in my mature skin clients and I love it. Love you!
I have not tried that. Interesting.
I was just looking at that one the other day. YSL All Hours is my HG... have you seen a difference between the two or is one just more dewy? YSL & Chanel are difficult to find samples of around me. Thanks!
Florencia Ortega is that actually a tinted moisturizer or foundation?
@@TheJalebe73 it's a very lightweight and moisture foundation. It feels like skin but has some coverage.
@@cindyp5132 I haven't tryed the All Hours one.
New foundation looks more brighter & peachy in color! The other side looks a bit more grey, but it’s very subtle. Still looks Great though!😊👍❤️💋
Wonderful review! I was looking for the old and so happy to see your in depth experiment. Just ordered the new (but same!) Chanel formula🙂
Whew!!!! So glad!!! Thanks for the tip about refrigeration. I stocked up too. Mine are now in the fridge!!! Thanks Angie!!
I always appreciate how thorough you are with your reviews! Thank you for taking time to research the ingredients and give them the wear test! 🎉
Your skin is so pretty! You really don’t need much make up. :)
