The best review I have seen so far for this adapter! most reviewers don't even mention what sensor size and what aperture they were shooting at? how could people get a clear idea about a piece of glass if the reviewer didn't even mention such basic info? Thank you so much!
Also agree with you on the lens choices. I pair it with a voigtlander set of 40mm f/2.0 SLII, Voigtlander 55mm f/1.2, Voigtlander 90mm f/2.8. all of them are modern lenses that have front elements that get quite near the rear element of the adapter, small lenses, have 52mm front threads so I don't have to use step rings which makes the connection even closer and gives better image quality.
Thanks! I tried to include as much information possible with real world experience. That lens combo seems great! I would love to have something in the 40ish mm range to be my “wide” lens in FF open gate.
I am sure you would find the 40mm voigtlander appealing as it's a fast f/2.0 sharp pancake lens. It clears 16:9 FF with blazar nero. Tried 3:2 aspect and noticed slight vignetting which disappears as I correct lens edge distortion in Resolve anyway. I also use Edge detection ofx to clear chromatic abberation in the bokeh that this adapter produces.
Nice review! Loved the driving shots! Also nice to see the Z-Cam F6 in all its crop modes. Would love to see Blazar jump into a larger diameter 1.5 - 1.6x adapter. I've got the 1.35x, which works well for my needs but you make a nice case for the 1.5x, especially when using Nikkors and Helios taking lenses.
Thanks! The F6 is such a great camera for shooting anamorphic with all it’s modes (FF and S35). Next review will hopefully be of the Atlas Mercury set (as soon as my pre order comes through)

WOW your channel is underrated!!! This video was so helpful and your cinematography is beautiful. Look forward to coming back in a few months and seeing you at atleast 10k subs :)
Great review! Pretty convinced this is the most cost-efficient and convenient anamorphic adapter out there. The Aivascope ticks a lot of boxes but certainly costs a lot more and sometimes is hard to find in stock.
Thanks for this! I think you're the only reviewer that showed you can use the adapter with a rail system as opposed to just screwing it onto the lens. Noob question, how close should the adapter be to the taking lens when using rails? Should it almost touch the front element? With the rail setup, I'm temped to try it on the BMPCC 4k with manual (7 Artisans) lenses.
@@danielp_adams I definitely will. Thanks mate, have a good one!

Fantastic review, thanks for all the taking lens samples! Have you had a chance to try it on lenses with larger filter threads? I'm curious how it might combine with the Rokinon DS, for example. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for watching! The important thing is that the front element of the taken lens is close to the size of the adapter (52mm) and that the elements are as close as possible. I tried the adapter with my Nikkor 85mm f1.4 (67mm front) and the results are pretty unusable. Hope that helps
Well great job, outstanding work you're doing! I keep wondering if I will go for the Blazar Nero or the Moment Adapter, but this is really nice regardless! Keep up the great work!
Thanks man! I think they all have their strengths and weaknesses, it’s kinda cliché but it really does depend on what you’re shooting and your style. It’s nice to have so many options now 👍🏼
@@danielp_adams I get it, it's more of a choose your own adventure when it comes to filmmaking and what tools to use. We're in a such a good generation of equipment to pick out and use!
Hey Daniel! Thank you so much for putting this together. I am wondering if, like the AIVASCOPE, can you invert the Blazer Nero to obtain a 4:3 image from a 16:9 ? Thank you!
Hey Eric thanks for watching! yes you can use it in vertical mode with great results! There's actually some footage of that in the review (the last shots of the real world footage). In this case i used the camera in normal horizontal mode in 3:2 and the anamorphic adapter inverted, it results in almost a 1:1 image. Hope this answers your question haha
What do you mean by the term "taken lens" ? I'm pretty new and haven't heard that term, sorry if it's a stupid question. BTW thank you for your videos they are wonderful!
Hey thanks for watching! The taking lens is the base lens on which the adapter is attached to. For this kind of setup you use a spherical lens and attach the anamorphic adapter. The spherical lens you choose is the taking lens. Hope that helps 🙏🏼
Hey thanks! Depends on the lens. My Nikkor 28mm f2.0 covers s35 when shooting 16:9 and cropping for 2.39:1. You will see some vignetting in the edges but it crops out when cropping to 2.39. Hope that helps!
Good fun. Thanks for your efforts here great video. I have the "other" 1.5x adapter in amber and lots of glass to play with. Try yours with some oval 2x inserts.... ;) Great for getting painterly vertical stretch bokeh. Though at a small cost, slightly less overall out-of-focus mush, which actually sharpens up things a bit with the marvelous, albeit, crappy russian glass.
Manual focus only. You could use one of the new LiDAR systems that are coming out though (on any manual lens) if you really need some sort of autofocus.
I don't understand why so few subscribers. This channel is a treasure!

@@corerage I’ll definitely consider picking up the 40! I have my eye on the Jupiter 9 for a close up lens ;)
Great review and footage 👍🏻 I use the adapter also in combination with the Helios 44-2 and absolutely love it.
Thanks for watching! The helios makes it a great combo! i'm wanting to try it with the Jupiter-9 next!
Nice 👍🏻 I tried it on the Sony 85mm 1.8 ( had to stop down to 2.8 ) , it was a little bit difficult to find the infinity focus of The taking lens.
yeah finding infinity focus on focus by wire lenses is a pain for sure, i'd stick to old (but sharpish) vintage lenses 😄@@Saeshmedia

Great suggestion. I was thinking about that option myself, for the Samyang V-AF anamorphic adapter, which as cylindrical bokeh, not oval.
Great review!!!
Thanks! Appreciate it! 😃
I wonder how Nero works with m42 Takumars(49mms) & CYZeiss(most not all 67mm filter)
Smaller front elements work better for sure 👍
The taking lens doesn't need to be at infinity?
Yes, the taking lens needs to be set at true infinity (some lenses have the infinity mark a little off)
