I love writting notes with colorful pens, it really makes studying so much more fun and exciting. What I also love since i'm an active learner, is writting on a white board and pretending to teach a class the information i'm learning!
Using different colored pens is a good idea. When I make a study guide, I write my notes like this (all this fits on one page) the vocabulary term (red ink) a simple, one sentence definition (blue ink) (I focus on this, this will be easier to remember for the exam) then, a longer, essay version related to that (black ink)
Could you make a video on how you make your concept maps and show some examples, more in depth! Looking for more ways to study for nursing! I'm a big flashcard junkie so I'm trying to learn new ways
I love all your tips!! I will try the concept map!! And I also love colors!!! I just got done with first semester of nursing! Second semester starts in 3 days (Jan. 17th)!!!
Right now, I am in an Anatomy class. There is usually 6 sections of material for each exam. For each exam, I make a study guide for each section. I use one of those stick on plastic tabs to divide a note book into a 1st and 2nd half. The first half is the essay section. This is for the more complex concepts. I summarize 1 or 2 of the more complex concepts here, max one page of notes. I may also draw in diagrams / pictures if I need to. An example would be drawing the vessels, ventricles and atriums of the heart. the 2nd half of the notebook is what I call theory. This is for definitions of terms I need to know. This part is for concepts I can summarize in one sentence. I usually have one sketch book for every exam. For example, if I do not want to draw every artery and vein of the heart, I print a picture from the internet (or take a picture of an anatomical mode), print it, tape it to the sketch book and draw arrows with labels. I use a different color pen, for each item I define in the picture.
Video request: how you manage to maintain a healthy balance with school and your life, also if you are physically fit, how do you manage to add that in your routine!
Awesome video! One video idea that I would desperately need - how to catch up if you fall behind... I had a month of sick leave and now even though I've written down everything I've missed, it's just so overwhelming that no matter what I do the work load is too much.
It's so interesting to hear about nurses from different countries! :) I would really appreciate your advice. I got to the nursing school I wanted, I'm really happy and I feel great there. But I have a feeling all the time that the school is too hard for me and that I won't pass all the tests and I won't continue to summer semester. I feel like I study all the time but that it's not effective. I didn't need to study for school until now. I'm just so stressed all the time and I worry that I wil fail. Any advice please?
That's a very common feeling among nursing students!! There's SO much to learn and you have to learn it all at once! You say you study all the time and it's not effective, maybe you need to find some new studying techniques? Like watching videos and making study groups! You also have to keep time for yourself, to relax (i know it's hard, but it will benefit you in the end!) It's very hard to retain any information when were constantly stressed, so try finding ways that are most efficient for you :) If you have the passion and the drive, nothing can stop you from becoming a nurse !
Could you make a video on how you got into nursing school and the pre-admission test if you took one. Btw my first time watching your video and like it :)
What do you do when you're in class though?? Like you said in cegep you had the power points printed and you would write directly on them but now what do you do !!!
I watch your videos every day when i take break from studying, i chose to watch 1 video per day to encourage me studying. How you organize your day ? Could you tell me about your routine?
I got it from a craft store we have in Montreal called DeSerre, it's from the brand Clairefontaine, I tried to find a link to it online but i can't find it anywhere! :(
I see you have a Macbook. Do you have an actual powerpoint program on there? I cant find a powerpoint program for my mac. To print off my powerpoints with a note section on the side 3 to a page..I need one...what do you do?
I downloaded the microsoft office program that included powerpoint, excel and word! It costs 80$ for 4 years i believe or you can pay more and get it permanently! :)
I'm sorry if I sound rude but how do you cope with chemistry in college if you get confused between atom and molecule. I mean in the place where I live students are supposed to be thorough with complex organic reactions, physical chemistry problems and the periodic table by the 12th grade ! I'm a medical aspirant & don't really like much of chemistry other than organic. I want to know how you cope ?! Thank you :)
Tiasa Tilak thats not rude at all haha, i took chemistry in high school but it's been 4 years so i was having lots of trouble learning it all again, plus when i film i get a bit nervous, kind of like when you're talking in front of an audience and i get confused or stumble on my words and i think thats what happened here haha! i can safely say i know the difference between atoms and molecules haha😊 also i had lots of trouble motivating myself because inmy mind chemistry was the leadt important of my classes, i couldnt see myself applying much of it, so i had a hard time focusing and understanding it! hope that answered your question😊 xo
***** Sure it did ! Thank you so much :) My finals are near and I am so worried about my Chemistry paper !! I just hope the stress on this subject lessens as the actual medical course starts ! :p

You are not alone. I love making concepts notes. I am studying for my CPA and they help me a lot.

I love concept maps too your not crazy I love sitting in my room, putting some classical music, lighting a candle and concept mapping lol.

XxdrummerxX2468 yesss i love that!!👏🏻☺️👌🏻
I love mapping notes, although I refuse to do it as much I feel like I retain more that way.. along with power-points. Nice video 👌🏾
I use gel pens but I think yours are much better! What are they called again and where can you buy them? Thanks:)
Papermate Flair, size M.

That can definitely be very difficult! It's never happened to me, but I'll definitely try to find some useful tips! :)
Okay, I give in - I just subscribed! I'll try your techniques and see what works for me. Thank you, Justine.

How you organize your day ? Could you tell me about your routine?
that's awesome!! Depending on when I have class, i'll either study before I leave for class, or after if I have early classes :)
Are you going to school for LPN or RN?
RN! :)
Hey what would you recommend to wear to a university interview
I guess I'd recommend wearing something business casual? It's important to look professional at any interview you attend :)
Where did you get your notebook you use for chemistry?
I got it from a craft store we have in Montreal called DeSerre, it's from the brand Clairefontaine, I tried to find a link to it online but i can't find it anywhere! :(
omg thats so awesome!! I'm totally buying more haha!
Caroline R ahhh! Thank you!

What do you record with?
Does anyone have any good tips for kinesthetic learners!?
i was talking to my friend who is a kinaesthetic learner and she was saying that drawing helps her remember material :)
I'm starting school in the fall but I'm pregnant and due October 4th (thank god for mostly online classes) 😂
Why do you have chemistry classes ?
i think it was a pre-req for biochem, which i'm taking this semester! :)
Rebecca Williams it's usually a pre req for classes
I study just like you boo
How old are you ?
21 :)
Great
how to balance school, study and kids..
that's a tough one since I don't have kids myself, but i'll try speaking to a friend who does and see if she has any tips! :)
Our program doesn't give us the powerpoints. 😩
