    This is hands down one of the best videos on this subject. Explaining the hair strand test and what it means and then what to do etc made it so easy to understand. Most of the other videos on this subject are just not helpful at all because they are more confusing then anything. So thank you!!! 👏 👏

    While looking for reviews for lus brand products that I want to buy for my niece, I came upon you and this super informative video! I don't have curly hair and it's also very grey, but I was wondering how much of what you say here can apply to myself? Your video is inspiring me to take a closer look at what I use and how my hair reacts. Thank you!

    I assumed that my hair was low porosity because it’s not colored and rarely heat styled, but I’ve found that once I started using more regular protein-rich deep conditioning treatments my hair is looking and feeling so much better. It’s taken a long time to figure this out, so yes, patience is key. I’m guessing that simple environmental exposure and manipulation have wreaked their havoc over the years 🤷‍♀️ I never did any sorts of special treatments up until nearly a year ago. Thanks for the explanation!

    • @TheFitCurls
      @TheFitCurls  4 роки тому +2

      Happy to help! Not all high-porosity hair is porous due to damage - it's all about the shingling of those keratin molecules! I'm glad protein is helping your curls to thrive, and thank you for watching xxx

    Thank you for these videos! I'm not sure whether my hair is lacking moisture or protein, since the strands stretch with no problem, but my hair is overall very dry and the curls get frizzy and don't form well. I think it is low porosity because I put a strand in a glass of water, and it didn't sink at all.

    • @diananemoy7409
      @diananemoy7409 2 роки тому

      I completely relate to the lifetime of confusion classifying my hair type haha. I have always assumed I was low porosity purely because my hair strand floats in a glass of water per tray tray but every time I have googled dozens of explanations and videos I am left more confused among many claim the water test isnt the only factor to check and so many same hair issues are shared on both low and high porosity. It truly makes it impossible for normal people to know 100% and come up with a game plan. This video has to be the most helpful I have yet to run across period and I am realizing I have always feared and avoided protein products per dreaded crunchy dried out hair when I used too many protein products in the past so I have stick with only lightweight moisture for years logically thinking that should solve all frizzy and dry by nature issues for most curly hair but it alone never gives me uniform definition and frizz free curls like Angela as I have the same hair type. Think the balance is adding in a weekly protein treatment weekly as opposed to my main styling products or something I use more often to not overload and hope that allows the moisturizing products to actually absorb into my hair instead of just sit on it as is the problem for most low porosity ladies it seems. You might have the same issue and yes I feel like we are all doing calculus and trying to solve the davinci code to get this elusive blanche for those of us with fussy hair all our lives. Nothing has stressed me more than my hair for decades and that even beats out work! 😅😅

    Maybe it's not a super common thing but I was hoping you'd talk a bit about how you personally manage avoiding getting over-moisturized or even if you've had hygral fatigue. I'm not a fitness professional but a fitness enthusiast and it's definitely an issue for me. The best I got is to take my hair down as soon as I can so it can start drying and to use a blow dryer as often as I can. Otherwise, my hair will stay damp all day.

    • @TheFitCurls
      @TheFitCurls  4 роки тому +2

      I hear you and you are on the right track! Post-exercise I will often just diffuse my root area for a few minutes to help it dry. I will make sure to address this in more detail soon though - being prone to moisture overload is a very real and rough struggle!

  • @diananemoy7409

    Thank you for this video. Even being an ingredient nazi and spending most of my life trying every combo of product for my hair which is exactly like yours I have comically and insanely yet to find the perfect protein or moisture balance even with all my efforts. Baffles me lol as always either I'm weighed down and over moisturized or more frizz and dryness than I already naturally have. Getting smooth defined plump frizz free curls like yours has always been my goal and how my hair was in my teens among a tighter curl before all my years of heat styling and straightening. Now my curls are never uniform and always have sections of just frizz or poof left behind even after scrunchig out casts etc which never leaves behind the great curls it does for most. I have no frizz and good definition with the cast looking a crunchy got mess only so totally backwards. Definitely will be trying more of your tips. Also I wish I could ever learn to cut my own hair, your cuts in all your videos are flawless and I cannot find a professional stylist no matter how much I have spent to properly cut my layers and hair like yours so it styles more easily! 😅🤗

  • @jenierime889
    @jenierime889 4 роки тому +1

    As someone who went through higral vatigue I can say that cuting it off is NOT the only solution! I now have the hair I had before it was even "over moisturized" All I had to do was clarify alot and cut out all conditioner. And add LOTS OF PROTIEN! Only 6 months in and I can see new baby hairs and it's curls are coming back!

    Hi Angela,
    We all have different areas of hair where the porosity is different, eg roots are lower porosity. How do you balance your hair as a whole?

    • @TheFitCurls
      @TheFitCurls  4 роки тому +4

      That is a great question! I target my treatments and products more heavily in the higher porosity areas of my hair, such as the front and top sections and the ends, which helps balance the whole head overall :)

      @@TheFitCurls That’s really nice of you to reply to me. I did try a protein pack and it did seem to help. I’m wondering if you would ever do a video where you talk about the products that you use in a given week or a given month regarding 13 moisture balance. I’m wondering if I’m better off with protein in my shampoo and conditioner not so much in my styling products. There must be a difference because of the way the different products affect your hair. Do you have an opinion about this? I would say that I have been using the bounce curl gel and Wale really like the way defines my curls it seems to dry my hair out. I’m not sure if it’s getting flash drive because of the aloe or what. Anyhow, any input is greatly appreciated. This is all very mysterious
