You have become one of my top favourite artists along with Miyazaki and Tim Burton with this series, thank you for the tutorial, you are the reason I will try this medium and give it my all! Thank's for everything!
I've been following you for about two years. This soft happy style is what I aspire to draw. I hope you make more videos where you are in them, either visiting interesting places to draw or just drawing at home like this. They are very fun and interesting. When you are in the videos and not just the drawing, it becomes more intimate and interesting I think.
+JiiruKoga Thank you so much! It's already spring here so I'm planning to do some videos while painting outside :) Thank you for following and I hope I can show many more interesting illustrations and videos still. Cheers
Mateusz, I’ve just discovered your site and artwork. For such a brilliantly successful artist you are very modest and helpful! Looking forward to seeing more.
WOW!! - having some Technical Illustration, and IT experience, and taken water up colour painting (primarily line and wash) for the last year - I have watched a great deal of UA-cam videos and with doubt Mateusz, you are in a totally different league of your own. Not are you only a fantastic artist but a true artisan of the highest quality.
Great idea! Perfect combination of art and places of inspiration. Thank you for showing your painting technique. Yokohama is a beautiful place. I am not surprised that you have chosen this place as a background to the drawings. Keep it up! This is great!
I discover you and i think you're a great man, sharing your art and knowledge. You make me dream, you gave me ability to realize myself, the picture, on day, i dream on... thank you
I saw your work about one year ago when Im looking for information about Whisper of the heart, I fell in love with Bicycle boy's series but I did not realize about ur Ytb Channel, when I saw Cold In Yokohama's series for the first time I only could thinking about how can you make even better than the previous one. You and deathburger r now my favorites. Just want to say that I'm so thankful to you by showing your process. Keep strong, I'll buy some prints the faster I can. Ty ty
Loved to see and know Yokohama through your eyes... I myself have never been to Japan and very much wish to visit in future. But I could really see and feel the spaces and their environments through your passionate artistic expressions.
I truly thank you for painting with meaning, such as really knowing the history behind your subjects. That is why you are one of my aspirations. I hope for more videos of shared knowledge like these. ♡
Omg I thought I unsubbed on this Im so glad I found you again! I found you in id 2010 and you gave me ideas on how tp paint on the spot really fast. We were using oil paint for quick landscapes andrhat was when I found you in stumbleupon. Im sooo happy I finally found you again 😍
This is the most helpful tutorial i have ever watched 💙💙 thank your for showing your process. I had always been curious how people keep their works so neat.
This is wonderful! I adore your work and it's always a pleasure to see your process. Thank you for sharing your techniques with us. I must go back to practicing with watercolors.
Love your watercolour illustrations! I am glad to have found your channel. I am heading to Tokyo for the next few months too, and hope to create a series of illustrations for a book. If you are still in Japan, I would love to meet and paint together with you!
Thank you very much! It’s so useful and interesting! When you say “I make a version for the internet and a version for the printshop” what does it means? Can you do a tutorial? Thank you! 😄😄
@@mattjabbar Woahhh what??? That's amazing! I'm pretty bad in traditional art, but I have a passion for it. I'm taking an arts-related course for my 1st year in college. I aspire to be like you one day!
This is an amazing video. Thank you so much for share. I really love your work. It's a pity you're so far away 'cause it'll awesome a masterclass in person. I never expected the digital pre-version for testing colors (I usually made smaller ones in another piece of paper) It's a good idea.
Thanks a lot for this so inspiring video ! One question : the single manual draw is made on velum. How do you get this draw on the watercolor paper ? Kind regards
I was going to say, yep, some of those areas could easily be like somewhere in London UK. Especially the area you pointed out around the 2 minute mark.
Really inspiring work and process! Big fan of your works! I learned so much from you! Thank you so much! One question: How does watercoloring not affect your pencil lines at all? Did you do something magical to make the pencil lines waterproofed?
+Yaoming Hao I'm happy you found this video so useful! I scan the lines before I start painting. I don't protect the lines in any way. At the editing stage I put the lines (in MULTIPLY mode and 60% opacity) on the final picture to make the lines more visible on the computer.
That would be interesting. Scanning my watercolors, they are very pale. If I try to give them more intensity in photoshop they burn too much. Maybe I should saturate more colors in the paper or change the scanner?
Wow, thank you for sharing your work flow! It's really interesting. I have a question. Doesn't the pencil lines get smudged by adding the watercolor on it?
The really soft pencils (like 10B) can smudge a little if you are not careful and rub it hard with the brush but it's OK 99% of times, especially if you use good pencils and paper. Smudging the lines with your hand while drawing is more of a problem really ;)
Great video! I had been following your work since I read about it in kotaku, so to see a behind-the-scenes segment on it was really fascinating. One question: there was a lovely piece you did with two salarymen in what seems to be a restaurant with a lady cleaning a chopping board, stylistically it seems to be quite different from the rest of your work (a lot more grittier and vivid), was that done traditionally or digitally?
+SirWenger49 Thank you very much! This illustration: www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=34131064 It was done digitally just as an experiment. I'm glad you like it, because I like it a lot also :)
+Urbanowicz ウルバノヴィチ, Mateusz マテウシュ Yeah, I thought it was really interesting and really neat that it was something different from your current style (which I am a fan of), do you have any plans to experiment more?
very beautiful and interesting!! love especially the location hunting part compared with the illustrations. Yokohama looks so beautiful!!

Hey! I really like the brush you're using for your sketch on Photoshop, can you tell me the name of it please? Arigato ✩
It's one of the brushes from Kyle's Watercolor brushes set www.kylebrush.com/
Thanks a lot for this so inspiring video !
One question : the single manual draw is made on velum. How do you get this draw on the watercolor paper ?
Kind regards
Most of the times I use a tracing table to transfer the images.
very awesome!

Where did you get the porcelain water basin?
Amazing work! do you have a photoshop retouching tutorial for watercolors? Thanks you!
I will have to do one! But I try to not overdo it, just erase some mistakes and clean it up a little.
That would be interesting. Scanning my watercolors, they are very pale. If I try to give them more intensity in photoshop they burn too much. Maybe I should saturate more colors in the paper or change the scanner?

Great work! Do you use any type of fixative so your pencil won't smear as your painting?
No. I'm a little bit anxious how a fixative would react with the watercolours so I don't use any.
Oh ok, thanks for the response!
