Technically Tails' flying animation is his running animation. They also might've built Amy off of Tails in 3&K, seeing as she has her running animation in Doomday, lower hitbox, and only getting the super message when all the super emeralds are obtained
They 100% built Amy off of Tails. I could see Knuckles being built off of Sonic.

@@Microsave2 Think its a combo of alot of other things. Game gear is more Marketable then the master system, Rights issues, Theyd have to make a Game gear, Master system, Genesis, AND 32x Emulator. Or they just wanted the bare minimum when it came to a DLC add on. Not defending them tho, Cause its still bull how thats still all they could do after a whole year for 40 bucks

Kind of my one gripe with Sonic Mania forcing those bonuses to be in the "No save" run.... forcing you to play through the whole thing in one sitting. Just don't really have time for that, so we have to watch the bonus "knuckles and Knuckles" ending on youtube if we want to see it.
@@MarioMastar That hasn't been the case in ages. When Plus came out they allowed bonuses to be with the save files. Unless they reverted it back.

Honestly, the whole "make people who bought the Deluxe version eat a middle finger as we had to rebuy the full package" was the real reason. I almost didn't buy Sonis Superstars entirely because I felt like they'd pull that again... Incompetence, I can handle, but straight up screwing over the customers who SPENT REAL MONEY is pretty unforgiveable...

@@Caprisk_official For 1 and CD, they don't even have Super Sonic, so there's no issue w/ them, and w/ S3&K, it does have its original save select in Origins. The only one that does get screwed over is Sonic 2

My theory about why the save files are they way they are in S1/SCD/S2 is that Sonic Team was somewhat inexperienced with the Retro Engine of another team. And since Sonic CD's save file select interestingly also doesn't have a level select and just has you play the last level over again in perpetuity, they'd have to code in a new level select for that game when, as a reminder, they couldn't even implement the Drop Dash properly in those games, instead disguising a Spin Dash as it. So they probably just went for consistency in crippling all three save file selects to work like SCD's because they couldn't be bothered to get Headcannon to make SCD's save file select function like the other games. Though that doesn't explain the one save file per character thing, so maybe that's just a weird creative choice on their part.
Also small correction, the Boss Rush save file glitchery was introduced prior to that update listed on TCRF, and it seems to affect pre-existing Boss Rush save files from before that patch was downloaded. I will say I don't blame them for trying to make SCD's menus more authentic to the original, controversial as that may be.

Sega literally had a decade to port these mobile versions to other platforms, and THIS is the state that they're in. Origins isn't horrible, I'd even go as far to say it's perfectly *fine.* But considering the AMOUNT of problems on display here, it makes you wonder how this even got released. Compare this to Bethesda's Doom 1, 2, 3, and 64 remasters on modern consoles, and the difference is night and day. For 30 bucks, Origins should be better.

The infinite hammer throw needs to become cannon. I prefer the Sonic X version though, where it seems to be driven by pure emotion. Then we can see Eggman really annoy Amy and belittle her, only to instantly regret it, just like Sonic X.
When they allowed her to be, Amy was really lit of a character. I never really gave Sonic X much attention cause I hated how she was depicted in the games as seemingly only existing to annoy Sonic and slow him down, but Sonic X made her much closer to how she is in Boom where she's a genuine force to be reckoned with, giving her the Chi chi or Bulma glow up. Fortunately they fixed her character in recent games making her all the more loveable and not just a really terrible stereotype.

Some information regarding the Super Emeralds.
The initial conception of the Super Emeralds were, as Iizuka said, likely not intended to have any narrative weight. They really were just a bonus reward to players, and were likely only added in so the extra seven special stages made specifically for Sonic & Knuckles wouldn't go to waste. Super Tails was also implemented to give Tails _something_ to work with, and his age and species likely weren't considered at the time of the form's creation.
However, according to a lot of up-to-date sources and lore, as well as a handful of semi-official statements, the Super Emeralds and Hyper Sonic _are_ canon, but they haven't actually happened in the canonical narrative so far. So the "best" ending of Sonic 3; the one where you get all the Super Emeralds, beat Eggman, and rescue the Master Emerald to stop Angel Island from falling. That ending is not canon. It never happened. It's essentially a "what-if power fantasy" scenario, again, as a bonus. Instead the "good" ending, where the same thing happens, just with the Chaos Emeralds instead of the Super Emeralds, is the canon one. To support this, the cracked "Super Emeralds" that appear in Heavy King's boss fight are not actually inert, they aren't even Emeralds. They're stone replicas.
Some interesting things we can deduce and confirm about the Super Emeralds. The Super Emeralds appear after the Chaos Emeralds are brought to the Master Emerald's altar. It's entirely possible that the Super Emeralds are the Super transformation of the Chaos Emeralds themselves (Mecha Sonic and Imperator Ix in the games, as well as Metal Sonic in the comics have gone Super using the Master Emerald). To parrot a fanboy's ramblings (because I know there's one out there), you can kind of interpret it like Super Saiyan Blue (Or Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, to each their own). It's essentially a feedback loop of power. You pull on a source of power to get stronger, but you make that power source stronger too, and pull from it once it's stronger, you're going to receive a greater boost yourself.
In all likelihood, once their enhanced power isn't needed anymore, the Super Emeralds simply reverted back into the Chaos Emeralds. But this is dipping into conjecture.
TL;DR
Yes, the Super Emeralds and Hyper Forms were added as a bonus, it's not difficult at all to find viability to that explanation.
No, the Super Emeralds in Mania are NOT the real thing, they're stone sculptures, likely added to let the fans know they haven't been forgotten by the creative team.
Are the Super Emeralds and Hyper Forms canon? Maybe. Current consensus is that they _are_ canon, but the events of Sonic 3 & Knuckles where you obtain them _aren't_.
IMAGINE how pretty colored Super Emerald sprites would've looked in Mania, probably would've been the best emerald sprites in the series.

@retrofan4963 Not quite, it's weird. Izuka himself said some stuff like super emeralds were just game play bonuses, but during the split of S&K3 plans changed and we got Hyper Eggrobo instead of the Dragon

I've been able to see the custom Sonic 1 title screens by loading a character and pausing, and going back to the game's title screen (Minus Amy, who's just loads the regular Sonic title screen up
If a little more was added to origins, then I think it would be worth it, but I that getting origins on half off and then getting the dlc would be worth it as of now.

I think it's real stupid how Sega not only said that Hyper Sonic isn't canon when he could've been a perfect inclusion to Frontiers' Final Horizon update, but also that "only male hedgehogs have super forms." Like, that is the dumbest criteria ever. It's just an excuse to not make Super Tails and Super Knuckles assets for Heroes.
As for the super forms themselves, well,
Tails should keep the Super/Hyper loadout, where Super is by himself and Hyper brings in the Super Flickies.
And the other super forms should have unique colors. I'd make Super Knuckles green (like the Master Emerald), Amy rose-gold, Mighty purple, and Ray cyan. As for Tails, I'd keep him the same brighter yellow, but if I had to change it, probably red.
Overall, why doesn't Sega just add the 1/CD/2 mobile menus? THEY'RE RIGHT THERE!

16:55 the reason hyper amy IS called super Amy IS because Amy's super Form isnt actually a super Form ITS called supercharged Form which IS simmilar to full Power movie Sonic being Just a powered Up Form and Not a super form. I... am in shock that there were even more problems with Sonic Origins Plus, but the part that got me is the v2.01 update introducing more bugs. I already felt ripped off with Origins and now I'm glad I chose to not upgrade to Plus. That and there's no discount for my Digital Deluxe edition.

Boss rush is broken btw on sonic 1 2 and cd. Loading a save on sonic 1 will send you to the credits. Same with sonic 2. And with sonic cd it sends you to the sound test and then to the 2011 main menu and if you try to select a save it won’t work, and selecting an option will send you to the normal title screen and if you try to load a save it will go back to the 2011 main menu, but if you do time attack the boss rush continues from your last save. At least this is what happened to me, plz tell me if you had different results with loading the boss rush.

I bought Origins Plus on PC 2 months ago and I've personally had quite a lot of fun playing through these remasters. Although it's the worst optimised version of the game by far, (it was absolutely awful on my laptop at first before I upgraded my RAM and switched to an SSD) it's at least easy enough to mod to fix some of the nitpicks I had with the compilation. Nothing too game changing, but whatever. Anyway I love playing as Amy; she's already my go-to character for a quick playthrough of any game :p
But yeah, the lack of a proper save menu for Sonic 1, 2 and CD really sucks. Granted, it doesn't bother me too much since I tend to finish the games in one sitting, and I personally feel collecting the chaos emeralds/time stones aren't really worth the hassle in those games. Still, it's a no-brainer when the older remasters had them around.
I also feel sorry for those who got the digital deluxe edition last year as they still have to pay full price for Plus which is just simply a terrible deal so I can understand the hesitancy there. As a newcomer it's a decent deal I suppose, but yeah... even with its faults, Plus is the point where I finally consider Origins to be somewhat worth it, and it's what it should've been at release. It might've been better if Origins had received a delay to 2023 for exactly this.
PS: I assume Knuckles & Tails is not an allowed option in S3&K because of the fact Knuckles has to take his own paths. Having Tails around to fly him would allow Knuckles to enter Sonic's paths which I imagine would create some issues.
PPS: the Tails underwater crash in Sonic 1 seems to affect only console versions. Seems that PC is unaffected. Which is even more weird...
Want to know something amusing? Headcannon actually thought about that and included eggman/eggrobo sprites for each of the bosses depending on who you play as, some of which you would never know without debug mode or level select.
@@geckoguyDaroh I think the Eggman/Eggrobo fix was actually present in the original S3&K whenever it was possible to glitch Knuckles into Sonic's paths or vice versa. Headcannon did fix up the few bosses where this didn't happen; notably the Flying Battery act 2 boss.
There's also technically a new intro to sonic vs mecha sonic (s3&k), in the original eggman just straight up dies, in the remake he falls out of his eggmobile, theres little tweaks like that scattered around.
I just like breaking Sonic 3 with the debug.

The Chaos Emeralds should give everyone super forms and the Super Emeralds should give everyone hyper forms.
Of course all of the content was supposed to be in the original origins. There’s a reason why it said new playable characterS.
