I Screwed Up | What NOT to do with your drone

- After nearly a decade of flying drones and never a single crash or incident. You would expect these things could fly on their own. Yeah. Not the case. In this video, which shows what took place two weeks ago, you'll see how I had a major 'whoops' with my DJI Mavic Air 2 drone.

Hands on the drone, hands on the wheel...... 😎👍🚀🚀🚀💥💥💥 First time I have thought about using the RC Air 2 cache to phone as a backup copy ...... And I only just bought a second storage card. Thanks for posting as a timely reminder: ALL electrical gear is subject to FAIL at exactly the moment you least expect it and have not prepared for!!!! Damn! 🍺🍺🤬✌️
You got that right friend... another learning lesson in life! Stay well!
The sudden thud that all drone pilots dread. I hope you can recover the data. We all screw up at some point. Great video, regardless 👍
o no, and thanks for sharing with us, nice leasson
If we are living and and breathing, we will screw up every now and then. I haven't met the perfect person yet. Hope you get it fixed soon.
Hey Randy... thank you bud. Yes agree, it happens to all of us. Great to see you today friend!
Oh man that hurts. Sorry man. Hope you fix it fast!
Got my drone three days ago, took it too a hill, did all my checks and pressed 'take off' it tried to lift and spun around on the floor tipping upside down with the propellers spinning in the dirt and grass. I though I had broken it. I cleaned her up and tried again (off a level surface this time) she went up and had a gimbal head error. I thought I had managed to break it already. Cleaned some more, moved around the head a bit and sent her up again and she seems fine now. BIG lesson learnt about having a level surface for take off.
Try recalibrating the gimble. I dropped my drone three months ago trying to launch the same way you did but I did it over grass at four feet. No damage but I had to recalibrate everything and reset the battery.
Loved the video!
Oh nooooo
Ouch.
oh wow brother so sorry to hear this! maybe try a data recovery service for the card? sending you good vibes!
Hey Larry... yeah it happens. Fortunately, this was all that happened. Robert above shared some links I'm going to try out. Hope you are doing well friend!
Yup. I have done that also.
I heard you need to update the controller using the computer
You rock, thank you bud!
@@photographytalk did that work out for you
Once I forgot to stop recording and powered down my drone. That file could not be opened on my computer. I had to put the card back into my drone and power up my drone. When i did that the drone finished encoding the file and the file was readable. I could play the file on my desktop. Below are a couple of tutorial videos that might also be helpful.

You rock! I'll check out these videos and see if that helps! See around Robert!
Bummer! I’m sure by now you’ve figured out that you need to update the smart controller with your computer, not through WiFi. Rode through Glamis once on my Harley during a windstorm & over 110 degrees. Talk about a dumbass thing to do!
Hey bud... nope... I just arrived back in town from Glamis Sunday afternoon. Honestly, I haven't even looked at the smart controller update since last week. Good tip on the computer. Oh man, I bet that was fun! Did you stop? LOL I was joking with Ken (Turtleback owner)... it's going to be months before I get all the sand out of all my gear and Jeep! ha ha ha
Shit happens
You screwed up by spending $800 on a controller. I just don't understand that mindset.
