+MrKalitos2011, Most S8 tenants don't damage property. It's just that you never hear about those stories, just like you never see anyone on youtube making a video about how clean their non-S8 tenants left the place. Same thing for S8. Leaving a place clean and undamaged is nothing notable and it's what's expected. So nobody reacts to that or pays it any mind. Non-S8 people are just as likely to live filthy and damage property.

The worst tenants I've ever had was a luxury unit that was $2,800 a month. Fist sized holes in walls, marble counters cracked, charred cabinets above the stove, wet couch that reeked of beer and weed, hardwood flooring ruined with pet droppings, toilet missing. My Section 8 tenants have never done anything that couldn't be fixed with basic cleaning supplies.

thats because iits very hard for people on section 8 to get an apt too many sick in the head criminal landlords victimize them by trying to make them homeless or by renting them severe health hazard apt so when a person is normal enough to rent them a good apt they appreciate it adn treat it well

    • @oggyreidmore
      @oggyreidmore 4 роки тому +3

@@SanchezQuintero1234 I pay for repairs regardless if the unit is section 8 or not. The government has certain standards your unit has to meet to be deemed suitable for habitation before they'll let you rent to section 8 renters. They are very basic guidelines. All of my rentals exceed the requirements, even the lower rent units. I don't rent property that I would not feel comfortable living there myself.

What about jail, schools, Veterans, financial aid, police officers, social security, grants and scholarships...don't down a person because they're receiving assistance. No one in America can pick where their tax dollars go. Her children are taken care of, she doesn't have to thank anyone but God and the person that blessed her with that place!

I have been on section 8 for five years .
and i have only enhanced any places i lived .example
    those cheap blinds
that every section 8 apt seems to have the ones that brake the first week the string get knotted up .I replace the with very nice wood blinds
    in every room .
Why because it looks bad when the brake
    then there the carpet
you know that cheap hotel carpet its always blue and no padding
I replace it with the faux wood floors and yes they match the blinds . and lets talk about that god awful yellowish paint that they put on the walls That they just throw on the walls not even cleaning the walls first so under the paint theres food grease hair even bugs
and on top of that it starts to peel off let just call it section 8 yellow because all Section 8 apartment have it. I paid for somebody to come in and scrape all the old paint off first. so it doesn't bubble or doesnt get bumps and peel. and then I repaint it a New York White which is a very pristine White then any of the Little types of things like cleaning thoroughly under the range of the stove because no one ever look there. so there is so much caked on grease and food you could open a restaurant! and i do whatever else needs to be done I just paid to have a privacy fence put up a 12ft X 5ft . New Hardware on the cabnets door you know so on and so forth and I pay for this out of my money I make sure that none of my furniture scraps the walls
I make sure that I scrub my walls and floors every 3-4 days and i pay to have my place fumigated every 6 months because the watered-down crap that they use doesn't kill anything. and again I pay for all of this out of my pocket. from the check I get from SS $1200 that I get every month for working 25 years for the state of California! when I do move I leave all that behind and I leave the apartment clean. why do I do this because I believe my home is reflection of me.
Yes I do keep before and after pictures
What gets me is a majority of the time I don't even get half of my deposit back that I gave the landlord to move in so you know what they're getting my 1/2 my deposit plus all the hard work and money I put into my apartment I guess that's just how it goes!!!
I don't know why people think that because your on section 8 your lazy dirty and uneducated
thank you I feel better now !!!!;)

I have section 8 and live in an apartment. I have a cottage which simply means you have no neighbors above you, just your neighbor across from you. I am fortunate enough to have great neighbors and also to have this cottage. I'm the last cottage on my row. My apartment faces a side street neighborhood that is quiet. My son and I live together. We are very respectful neighbors, were very clean, I'm always sweeping ground areas and my patio is spotless with 2 beautiful plants. My little home is very clean .I'm always cleaning my windows bathroom and the bedrooms have beautiful pieces of carpet covering the apartment carpet. Were clean, quiet, and nice people to live next too. I'm very polite with a smile, I also take care of my neighbors house when they go out of town for periods of time. Not all section 8 renters are horrible tenants. It's unfortunate how we've been labeled as such due to some of the section 8 renters in the past and now that are just filthy pigs good gosh ❗I've lived in my apartments for 4 years and have never been late once with my rent never. The same with my utilities, paid on time. Let me say this, there is a family in my apartments that are complete PIGS❗Thank goodness she lives no where by me. When her apartment needs work maintenance find themselves walking over tons of dirty diapers that smell so bad, big garbage bags of garbage piled up against the walls. This woman has a trash bin just steps from her good grief. They have little kids running round the house filthy dirty, holes in the walls ❗It makes me wonder what kind of people do things like that. Roaches dancing around their house doing the cha-cha when the lights are off. The neighbors want this family out and I think the Manager is rushing this through. One neighbor in a nice apartment complex can ruin things so quickly.

So it varies. If you have ANY chipped places in the basement floor they WILL fail you on that.

Pretty good.... my opinion, only ONE smoke detector per level - multiple smokes on same level is more to fail in the future. After all, batteries usually end up missing after second inspection. Forgot to mention every door must latch properly, sticking doors fail AND tripping hazards in sidewalks, cracks etc. at least Middletown Ohio has those checks. Seals on fridge too. Good video, well done.

I'm on sec 8. I asked my landlord to check everything before my upcoming annual inspection. He had his maintenance man do it for him. Everything checked out and I was told I was good to go. Upon the inspection, I was told that the showerhead dripped, and that this was a minor infraction. But if I got it fixed it would be dropped, and my inspection would pass, and I would not be inspected for it again. All I needed to do was to call and or leave a message that it was fixed. So, I contacted my landlord and again he sent the maintenance man to fix it. And it was fixed. So I called the inspector and left a message that it had been fixed as I was instructed. Then 2 weeks later I received a failed letter stating if this is not fixed I will have to move out. It also states another inspection will be done if it is fixed within a certain time frame! I feel like I'm in the middle of Sec 8 and my Landlord. I have complied and the showerhead is fixed...what do I do next?! Is it possible that Section 8 tries to fail people? (FYI:the so called dripping showerhead only dripped a few drops!) I will be calling the inspector again to see why this is happening. If I am not advised I will be filing a grievance. I am very upset over this petty problem. I am a good tenant and do not deserve to be treated like this!

Holy crap.....my smoke alarm is almost right next to the stove so when the heat rises the smoke alarm goes off at least 3 times in one day then a few more times. Well, I have a puppy that as soon as I go toward the stove she starts to shake. In this video the smoke alarm went off and she started shaking and I had to hold her tight to keep her from hiding under the bed. Every time she hears anything that sounds like a smoke alarm she starts shaking----------------------I pulled the smoke alarm out but that's not safe. Good grief I didn't think this guy was going to make the alarm go off. My poor puppy is shaking so bad

The Chicago Housing Inspectors are picky goof balls. I was a building code enforcer and did property inspections and never made issues about pipes having paint on them. CHA inspectors will tell you that's a violation even if it's not chipping or flaking. Also if your hardwood floors poly coating is thinning from wear. They say that's a violation.
These are aesthetics, not healthy and safety issues. (which is what a building inspector is suppose to look for)
Property owners need to stand up to these inspectors because they are going too far.

Some of the residents WORK and know how to keep house.
You would think that folks would stop playing everyone under the same umbrella however, I'm not shocked at all.
I'm still hearing that recipients don't pay rent and that's far from the truth.

If the tenant leaves the place in real bad condition and/or damages the unit then the landlord can always complain to the Sec 8 office about it. Sec 8 inspects the place when a new person moves in - they don't do it a 2nd time when the person moves out. Most Sec 8 places are dumps anyhow from my experience. If a person gets a good apt on Sec 8, they are lucky. If you got any evictions and/or bad credit you can't get a good apt these days on or off of the Sec 8 program.

Section 8 does not pay deposits, tenants will promise to pay your deposit on time (yeah right). It could take up to 3 months before vouchers come. A section 8 tenant can get kicked off the program, then you have to evict. The paper work is a pain in the ass. A gov agency telling me what I can do and not do no thanks.

Davon hook. Your such a douchebag. There are housing projects that people don't even know are section 8. Our town has revised four old Mills to beautiful apartments. Hud only guarantees ownership. These factory apts are very nice. Only sa percentage are subsidized. Ignorant people like you think a subsidy means something bad. Well I have managed large complexes. By far the worse one I have seen was a wealthy woman. In another part of town everyone thought the 25 mil renovated Apts.were great. And they are. All of these types of Reno's are federal or state loans and require some subsidized apts. Meaning a head working grocery store employee can go on a waiting list like a person making a 150 grand and live somewhere decent. It doesn't mean disaster. Even our council And Mayor were all excited then posted on line offensive remarks regarding low income residents. But if you inspected the building you wouldn't know who gets a subsidy. Your an ignorant ass. Get a reality check loser!!!!

Weatherstripping is important t cost the tenant a lot of money to lose that energy and it lets bugs in. We do fail for that. Don’t forget the doors to the exterior part of the unit have to have striker plates in place. Also with the toilets they can’t rock at all. He did say he leaving certain things out tho

as far as renting section 8 it all depends on the property. If it is a piss ass property already - in a piss ass location- maybe. Otherwise - no way. if the government also agreed to repair the things that they mess up on - sure. As far as section 8 as a program - yeah - I guess. It is abused though. People shouldn't be on this for years as it is now. It should be only temporary. Or at the least have people do acts of community service to pay for what they take out from the government.

that's what I call slum lord They !get all their rent every month they should provide the tenants with an actual locking window instead if the previous .99 cent lock that's incredible difficult, time comsuming, and more important doesn't actually work like a real locking window.
Hey let's take the owners small child and put it in the room with that lock on the window they play the news alert that a child molester is roaming his.neighborhood. Think he ll feel safe about his child with the . 99 cent lock.
You see it's cutting corners because their not lThey don't want to fix it right buy t ving there. Yhey dont care if you have daily frustration over the window lock screw and unscrew that horrible lock before you stop opening the window or you stop locking it all together.

Section 8 is a good idea for those using it properly. For people who take advantage, I think food stamps should only be able to be applied to food, appliances and children's clothes/diapers, and books. They should make it where food stamps aren't applicable to Adult clothes, electronics, etc. also, people on section 8 should have monthly drug tests.
