Who wins the battle? 🤔 Nylon song is 'Fuego' and steel string is 'Waterworks' 🤘
As a beginner guitarist I to did a test between the steel strings and the nylon and I personally like the steel string much better.
The winner is we, the audience.
I think they both have their strengths and weaknesses. The steel strings are my personal preference but the nylon strings do bring a certain sound that sounds incredible as well.
Nylon sounds warm and natural. I like playing with nylon strings. Steel has its place but the sound is not as warm but it is clearer.
Heres a question. Scalloped neck vs standard
Ngl both sound good when bernth plays it
True
soft fingers 😅
666th like let's gooooo lol. Also yes bernth plays the shit out of both. I will say I like the fast passages better on the nylon string
Fr
😂😂😂 true
Nylon- suspense and soothing
Steel - Crunchy and bold
Winner - BERNTH
Both sounds good. I like the steel for a more precise crisp sound, the nylon for a more dreamy sound. Depends on the song.
Steel sounds more dreamy
@funlovingvoyeur couldn't agree more

fr
Technically, it's the opposite
I just fell in love....that acoustic guitar is GORGEOUS
Steel definitly sounds just a lot clearer and more articulate, 100% win for me every time
Facts
Especially with a pick though. Not really fair comparison unless you pay nylon with finger or long nails like classical players
@@cesar4729 lmao yeah wtf it looked like he was just playing an electric
@@theharvardyard2356true, dont know why in world acoustic steel is the "normal" guitar, here in SA the nor al guitar is the classic with nylon strings, search "Folklore argentino", or Horacio Guarany, is so characteristic in here!
@@bambampewpew32 agreed. I feel like the big hole in the center of the acoustic makes a big diffrence. Acoustics without it that I've tried, sound "muted" in some way to me.
What the people don't understand: nylon strings Arte to play especifific genres, while the steel strings are to play others especifics genres. One isn't better than other, they are just for different applications
No.
This.
No.
yes? @@M_Pohh
@@lvl30dragon no?
Both sounds amazing when you play It, but that Waterworks riff is just out of this world
Pick : steel
Fingers : nylon
Came here to say this. No offense to Bernth, but I don't think he did the nylon string justice here. The tone he used and way he played it just don't highlight the sexy side of nylon string.
They both sound beautiful, and have their own places and uses
depends on what type of music that is played, imo i really love the classical guitar of its sound in more ambient music, and the steelstring sounds amazing in other types of music
yeah no string are better, they just have different use cases.
Bro, I just can't. Both sounds awesome
steel definitely wins for sure. But nylon definitely has a unique sound that could be useful in some scenarios.
Lol that Ibanez nylon string are a joke =)) I am sure it sounds worse than proper 100$ classical guitar .
@@phanhuyduc2395 they're actually my favorite nylon personally, they aren't the absolute best in the world but they're rlly nice especially for the price
This dude is a fucking monster
It all really depends on what you’re interested when it comes to the sound
Those harmonics man ☠️
I swear to god people like you are literally born for this shit !!! 🔥 🔥
They are both special and good sounding when played by you :)
I love the steel one but it's very interesting the almost kinda distorted (but not in a bad way) sound of the nylon. I prefer clear sound but the nylon must create very interesting effects in a sound even more when well executed like that.
I prefer metal, but honestly both sound so nice.
Me too
I like both and use both for effect .
The tone on the nylon is just perfect.
This is fucking awesome.
Prefer nylon 100%. But both sound INSANE when you play them.
Funny, I feel like on fast picking techniques, nylon has more percussive sound (coming from the picking) rather than "ringing" sound, so the signal/noise ratio isn't that good on nylon.
On lower picking speeds, nylon can sound amazing. I still prefer steel generally, but it really depends on the style of music you play.
😂 i see what u did
@@Hexalyseif u play without a pick it sounds better
I feel like the nylon has more percussiveness. I actually really love how both sound tho coming from daddy Bernth’s magical fingers
I used to play a lot of steel string and just occasional nylon string. But now i'm playing more nylon string. I think you can get more interesting organic percussive quality and actually a wider sonic range of sound on nylon without a brittle high end... I think everybody should try both and don't discount nylon until you give it a good shot...
Nylon is pretty underrated imo
Depends on the style your playing, i personally like playing the nylon for more classical guitar but i like steel for certain songs as well
They both have a unique sound, but I like the the nylon strings a bit more
They both have they places. sounds equally as good.
Both sound amazing
Nylon, but im a Spanish or old west fan when it comes with the guitar. The nylon sounds like it's an compliment you would put in a zorro movie
Neither is better! They’re just different, and they both rock! Some of the best rock and metal songs dating back decades were written and/or recorded on either a steel or nylon stringed guitar. Every guitarist should own at least one electric and one acoustic guitar - having at least one of each will make you a more versatile player!
This is like asking "Which is better? A screw driver or a hammer?"
Depends on what you wanna do with it..
uhhh, all of the above? Seriously, love them both for their different sounds. Can't choose!
They're both amazing in sound!! But im biased towards nylon. Started with nylon and played nylon for years and still playing it, along with electric guitar. I rarely used steel stringed guitar.
The second one made me feel like I’m in Italy❤
Both are cool but I’m definitely leaning towards the steel string. I think it may be a matter of personal preference, but the steel sounds clearer and crispier imo. Excellent playing from Bernth as per usual 🔥
The warmth from that nylon tho!!!!
They both have their strengths. And weaknesses
Let's put it this way: both sounds good, if the right music is played with the right choice of equipment (plastic pick vs your nails).
I play classical music with fingerpicking on nylon strings. You can play it on steel, but nylon sounds better. Pop musoc and rock ballads almost 100% on steel.
Forget about shredding with picks on nylon, since the only thing you'll hear is the plastic pick snapping the strings. Shredding on nylon with fingerpicking again, is quite impressive! sounding.
Im still learning to play on my classical with nylon, but im telling you i cannot WAIT until i get myself a steel string acoustic!
Steel is much better. The bright tones sound so good.
BRO WTF i love your harmonies T-T, goat
followed on spotify
I like steel more.. My favorite song waterworks
For that song, steel, but in general, nylon. Also depends on the guitar. Nylon works great for carbon fiber guitars, but can be a bit too muted on cheaper 6 strings.
I was the winner on this one!!
Amazing playing brother!! This is my pick,,,, Steel strings.
Theyre both amazing. The sound of acoustic guitar as we've known it will always be beautiful. The new sound with nylon we've been hearing a lot in the recent years definitely has a unique twist, and it sounds just as beautiful.
It's just something newer now, that's all. I think it just boils down to preference. I wouldn't make it a competition as to which one is better, there's no need.
Nylon - sounds cool 😄
Steel string - sounds Amazing 🤩
maybe use both on the same guitar with a high grade mic and the same song for comparison. my favourite is steel bc it is fingerfriendly and has more volume and less off-note side-sound.
If you play the nylon correctly, the answer is the nylon
Personal preference is towards steel string. As a person who started on electric guitar first as soon as I tried nylon acoustic it just felt a bit weird to me... So for my acoustic I instead picked up a Stagg Dreadnought. Just feel steel is more sharp and clear to my ears, but by no way dissing nylon acoustics though 😊
Steel and it's not even close
They both work phenomenally if they're used the right way
I got to go with nylon, it had this "beady" sound to it
Cancion Del Mariachi one of the best guitar playing was played on nylon. It depends on the genre and the sound you want at the time.
It's like asking what's better electric guitar or acoustic guitar.
I for one MUCH prefer the second one. That's steel, right?
I’m hearing some Tempting Time by Animals as Leaders in that nylon run, awesome stuff!
Steel. Easily
Everything can sound amazing if Berth plays it.
steel is what acoustic is meant to sound like
i'm pretty sure classical guitars were made first so technically they were "meant" to sound like nylon, both are fine though
@@suno186 yeah true but steel just seems more iconic yk
For Chords Nylon sounds amazing like Kurt Cobains acoustic on polly or something in the way. BUT His guitar had both nylon and steel at the same time
Balalaika I liked most
But fr, both soundings are unique, especially in your hands ❤
I like em both, and can't even tell. Both are cool in different styles. Hard to tell
Really just depends on what you're playing, the way you pick, and your prefeance. Though I've also heard nylon can be a bit better for people with arthritis or other things that make their hands not as strong.
They both sound great, in fact, they complement each other. I would love to hear song where the nylon and the steel string do back and forth solos, like Hangar 18 style.
From now on, I will just stop commenting because you're an awesome guitarist!
I consider that it's pretty much based on what type of sound you're looking for, that's my humble opinion
Both are great if you know what you’re doing
For this style of music I think it sounds better on the nylon classical guitar however there are plenty of things that don't sound great on nylon that do on accoustic
Nylon always sounds better on acoustic. Unless what your playing something that needs that certain metal wound twang, nylon will provide a cleaner, smoother, and more intonated tone. Metal wound notes usually all sound like the metal they were wound in. Metal "B" & "High E" strings will always sound like the metal with different gauged tightnesses since they're almost the same material at different widths.
Both good but depends on how it’s played that makes it sound better
I've always preferred steel string acoustic. Very well played!
I prefer nylon string acoustic but the full sized body nylon string. Not too keen on the sound of the thin ibanez nylon string.
in this application steel but for any type of pre 14th century music, nylon
I think it's more of what style are you looking for? What sound are you looking for? In the same sense that songs from different genres are good in their own right, but enjoyed by different people.
Different aplications, both are amazing
Damn! Both amazing
In the end it just depends on preference, i like steel strings cuz im more used to it(boy the pain i had in my fingertips as a beginner tho)
What is the blue guitar?
Probably FRH10N, or the TOD10N without the TOD. Honestly it sounds bad comparatively here because it's meant to be plugged in.
They are unique in their own ways
Why debate it? They both sound incredible
Depends on the song. Till There Was You's solo sounds judt perfect with nylon
What is your favorite guitar
try any of villa lobos preludes on both to see that the better sounding instrument depends of the scenerio youre playin
Depends on the tempo and on the playing style
I wonder how much the difference in guitars makes for fair comparison of strings vs. strings.
As a guitarrist aged: when young, steel. Today, nylon strings. Actually doubting about abandon pick in favor of fingerpicking.
Winner - Guitar
Doesn’t matter whatever you play sounds fantastic ❤
Both guitars create a beautiful sound.
You incredible you got so in control
Both are really good. It’s worth getting 2 guitars for both
steel sounds more elegant imo, but both have their uses, and I love both!!
both are good ❤ you should try it on the same guitar next time though!
There is no comparison. Both guitar sounds good in there own right
Nylon for fingerstyle how can you play with pick that's why it sounds like that
Yes
The metal tri-cone resonator you didn't play!
It really depends on the style of music but generally i prefer the steel string sound. Its clearer and punchier. Nylon has a much warmer sound which works well for mellower music.
It depends if u are playing like somthing that is spanish or mexican nylon, if u are playing like classic rock or pop steel
they both sound really good, but I feel as though nylon strings don’t do quite as good of a job at conveying the tone with faster rhythms, I personally feel like nylon strings are better suited for slower types of music where the strings can be given more time to ring out
