This type without the charging facility is only beneficial if you use wired Apple CarPlay.
The magnet looks strong.
But the weakest point will definitely be your cars vent! I doubt that the plastic vents will hold the weight of the mount AND the weight of the iPhone. Especially when you have the Pro Max
This is worth no more than $20 without wireless charging. Belkin really missed an opportunity to make a great product there.
I actually do like the fact that it doesn't have a build-in charger. I don't want my phone charging all the time when i'm in my car. When the battery is still charged I just want to put my phone there without a cable hanging in my way.

It is expensive but it does the job. There aren’t a lot of alternatives for your car out there.

If you’re air doesn’t work in your car then it might get too hot while charging wirelessly. You won’t get a lot of charge either unless you’re on a long trip. If you’re using gps while wirelessly charging then that’s even more heat with not a lot of charge. Plugin is better for car trips for the health of the phone

@@hounamao7140 Tesla doesn't even support Apple Car play or Android auto so for that reason they version of wireless charging is good only if you going to use your device over Bluetooth connection.
Almost all new models even from Kia or Hyundai support wireless charging that is very slow anyway but in addition they also support Apple car play or Android auto which is huge plus over Tesla version in my opinion 🤷🏼
@@trojkeddd you don't need apple car play or android auto. Why would you use that ? you put your phone on the charging station and use the ipad-size device. your phone is connected via bluetooth. what else ?
I picked up one of these this past Thursday from my local Apple Store. I totally agree about the pricing, and I figured I would give it a go and send it back if not happy with it. Well, I will be keeping this. It is overpriced, but I love this thing! It fits well in my car, and the magnets are fabulous! The conveinience of being able to just grab and go with my iPhone makes it worth it for me. It is staying put! Thanks for the awesome video! I’ve been using this one with my iPhone 12 Pro Max and it does its job without any problem. The only thing that I’m missing is wireless charging

For someone who has an aftermarket CarPlay head unit, I have to plug my phone in via USB anyways so it really is of no concern to me about lack of charging. The missing cables works well.

I also wish there was some type of sun shade given how much direct sunlight heats the phone and the improvement in visibility it would provide and minimize screen brightness, again helping the entire process.

the car mount you originally have looks like a hole puncher, but this one looks aesthetically very nice, shame about the charging but no big deal as you would have to connect a wire to the mount anyway instead you just connect it to your phone
Belkin should've waited to manufacture the wireless charging solution (which then would've justified using the "Pro" moniker). Definitely not worth the price for only a mount.

Best magsafe mount you can get right now is Esr halolock. Way stronger magnet plus it works as a charger rather than an actual mount.

I can’t quite understand the reason why are you using this product. You’ve got your Apple CarPlay on your car and you can use Waze on CarPlay. And if you want to change your musics you can change them on the steering wheel.
I’ve had the hardest time getting this to work in my Evoque, which sucks because I actually love this phone mount
I bought it because is not wireless charging. Not everyone have CarPlay and I need the cable to charged it and to put some music on my SUV. If I have a car mount that is wireless charging, in my case I can’t put music on because you cannot put the wireless charging and cable to charge it at the same time. If you now what I mean

Why? You still need a cable to charge. Use a charging cable separately when you need to charge.
Solid in a smooth velar, what about a van or truck, not charging via the pad itself is a complete deal breaker. For me without the worry or being in a truck
This looks like a decent vent mount but it’s a bit too expensive, getting it plus Apple case to work with properly and you looking at £100

Don’t care for the lack of charging. In a car I need my phone charged quick. So a cable is the only way to go for this, as it’s the way you can get quick-charging. Wireless chargers have a cable anyways. Cause you obviously need a power source, but then you waste an incredible amount of that energy in inefficiency from the coils in heat energy. Why not just run one simple cable to the charging port of the phone, and have a quick charge that’s efficient.
This mount is great in a time saving manner. I love my cheap $5 mount, it works amazing, however, I don’t always have time to fiddle with it. Additionally, as most people know, your phone eventually will release by accident, and putting it back on while driving isn’t always a choice cause of the danger it can create. This mount prevents any of those issues, if it falls, I throw it back on and don’t think about anything.
Is $40 worth it? Nope, but you didn’t come here to buy a cheap useful product. You came here to buy ease of use and luxury for your already $999+ device. If you didn’t, then yeah, it ain’t worth your money.
Couldn't agree with you more. I read comments all the time on these products, you bought a $999+ device in a $50K+ car but you're going to buy your esrk, lisa haroiks, buyaiol, lpipi, nikikoa, and other weird cheap wireless charging crap on amazon for $15??

Surely they know people would want a charger more than just a mount, this is very odd.
Note... this does NOT work with cars that have round air vents... I really wanted this to work for me, but it does not fully 'seat' itself if you have a round vent with the airflow control in the middle. Really disappointed.

Jeez, 2 minutes in and I got the info I was looking for, which is whether a non-certified case would weaken the magnetic attraction to the point where the phone would fall off from the car holder. Like
I mean, they're sold on Apple's website. Clearly states its not a charger either, where most people use a cable for Audio connection/ to charge. Wireless charing through a car is never as fast as from a mains socket either. I've got mine and it works perfectly, holds my phone perfectly. All depends on what your vents are like too! I only use apple certified/ actual apple charging cables meaning it fits. Why say no on your video title?

Glad you like your mount! I use a MagSafe certified case as well, from a brand called Pitaka - they do great, premium quality MagSafe accessories at cheaper costs than Apple. Strength is still great with the Belkin Mount
Purchased one a month ago. Used it fir a few week it’s great but the price without a charger was a deal breaker returned. Waiting for the next version

Yep, its made for all iPhone 12's - but without the case though (unless you have a magsafe apple case)
FYI there's a software update from LR that'll add Carplay + AA if your velar is year 2018+
According to the instruction leaflet from the box, you're not supposed to swivel it off the mount like you id din horizontal position!
You're supposed to rotate it together with the mount. But looks like it swivels off the mount for you as well as for me.
Is it supposed to hold to that vertical bar? Is it also magnetic? I would expect it to perfectly align to the main ring as well as to the vertical bar on the mount, right?!
Yet it doesn't seem to hold to it, even with an official Apple's MagSafe clear case.
So I was wondering is it ok like this, or a design flaw, or something?!
Also I've noticed Belkin's vertical bar on the mount is thinner and longer, than Apple's on the case. Does that contribute to it?!
I bought this car mount and I love it for 2 reasons:
1. Very easy to use and setup
2. Doesn't damage my phone case
I've tried several car mounts buy they all require several steps to secure your phone and they all damage the sides of my phone case. The Belkin mount requires just pushing your phone to it and it does 0 damage to your phone case...it's perfect for my needs. I have 2 phones so I keep a Samsung wireless charger in my glovebox for emergencies so I'm fine with a wireless mount that doesn't charge.
The only reason I would get this product. Is to keep my phone cool. I have noticed when charging my iPhones past and present they heat up. Experience tells me tech hates heat so I would like to keep my phone cool

speed bump test with ur range rover is probably a testaments of how well ur car manage over speed bumps rather than the mount's ability to hold, honestly.

To everyone who is considering to buy one - don’t. Why? Even though I’m using iPhone 12 OE Silicon Case with MagSafe my iPhone tends to fall off. Badly it usually falls down on the cable which puts tones of pressure into cable iPhone connection- mine is loose after two or three drops.
wish it would charge at the same time. that would be so simple because then you could just leave the car mount plugged up and everytime you get into your car it just works lol

But what is the difference between connecting a cable to your phone vs connecting a cable to the stand? The cable in both cases will be basically in the same place! The only pro I see is that it'll save you the step of unplugging your phone.

If the plastic inside the vent is rounded, then no - it would need straight edges, whether its horizontal or vertical.
You're not suppose to rotate your phone perpendicular to the base for landscape. Thats the entire point of it being able to rotate 360 degrees. Don't use it wrong.
Yes, absolutely. I just meant that specifically if you're in the middle of driving and had to quickly rotate it for any reason. Then it would still rotate. But I agree, rotate the mount itself, not the phone.

Nope, the mount itself is strong rubberized grip, so it is much stronger than the magnetic hold

Not this specific one because it’s made to work with the magnet array in the back of the iPhone 12s, no other phone has the required magnets. If you use a thin enough case or Apple’s own it will work with a case.
Belkin released a new black version which does support charging but it seems like it’s not as premium as the one you’re reviewing and it’s very thin

Is it hard to take the phone off? If the magnets are so strong I fear that it will be hard to get it off and disturb the fixing between the mount and the air vent.
Nope, its relatively easy because the mount itself is very strong and sturdy. It fits tightly into the vent so the force of removing the phone is much lighter than the strength of the mount holding on to the vent.

Honestly, I don't see why people bitch that it's not a wireless charger. If you put it on your vent, chances are the sun hits your phone through your windshield, and while it's charging it can overheat your phone very easily. I wouldn't want it to be charging my phone at all times I slap it on. Also, it needs to connect to a USB port or car lighter to charge, whats the point of it being a car vent mount if you gotta put it on a power source? Also, if you absolutely NEED to charge your phone while this is on the vent, just plug in a lightnight cable... charging speeds are going to be faster than the wireless charging feature anyways...
