      @@ah9337 emotion doesn’t move the car forward and I believe that’s the goal of the automobile. That’s Like saying people drink alcohol for the taste. Noise has until recently been a necessary byproduct of producing power and if you have to have it, you might as well make it sound as good as possible. If they don’t care, then why do they all like to brag about their power and times. If people only wanted the emotion, everyone would be driving a Miata. Bugatti wouldn’t make v12’s and no one would care about Nuremberg times or any auto racing. Anyone I know that likes loud cars craves power and speed. Or at least giving the illusion of it. I don’t need noise to know I’m fast or when to shift. That’s like knowing what to feed your horse before a race, outdated for most people because the tech has moved on.

      @@markjames2338 I highly disagree. There are usual cars for daily driving and there are other more special cars which provide true life experiences. The experience of driving a N/A V8 or Flat 6 engine with a manual gearbox (driving fast OR SLOW) will always be irreplaceable. I say that as someone who loves both EV and ICE cars. EVs are better in almost every measurable way (except weight), but an element of emotion is still missing. We need better interior driving noises!

    Test drove a Tesla Model 3 Standard a week ago and I was impressed by the power, quietness and the build quality. Unless I'm missing something, I saw no issues with the car I got to drive as far as quality of assembly or the materials used. The interface was more of a challenge than I was expecting but that just takes some getting used to. Good job, Tesla, and Thanks Miles.

      Good notes, Edd! I’ve seen both solid and terrible build quality in the Tesla examples I’ve driven, with the Model 3 almost always being the best assembled. People dont like the screen-tacked display of Tesla but honestly, I enjoy it and its one of the biggest reasons its better than any other car, You can watch a movie or video on the big display while charging or sitting or parking, which is amazing, in other cars you gotta add some aftermarket stuff and it's not that good, but it's built-in here, I love the long drives with my GF in it, We watch a Netflix while we eat our food in the car on a road trip or in middle of work, while we charge our tesla, we can keep our phones and laptop aside and enjoy that, the camp mode is fantastic, dog mode is great. In Track mode, regents backing is far more aggressive. You can also use your voice to control just about everything in the car, so no need to touch the screen to change the temperature or fan speed. You can just say, “set temperature to 72” and/or “set fan to medium”. To launch the car, you do not need to have your foot on the brake. Just hover your foot over the accelerator and then smash your foot down.

    You can't really send 100% of the power to the rear wheels, because the total power rating of the car is the combined power output of the front and rear motors. So when you do 100% rear, you only get the power of the rear motor, so a huge power penalty hit. It's not like an M5 or other similar car where you can bias the power from the one motor front to back and still get the full output of the motor to the wheels.

    • @MilesPerHr
      @MilesPerHr  2 роки тому +4

      Fair point. Suppose it’s more accurately 100% of “available” power

    • @ganymede3141

      @@MilesPerHr Yes. The way they display the graphic in the menu doesn't make that clear. So anything other than a 50-50 split means a hit to total available power. It's really more of a forward-rear bias with a power penalty. Would be cool if under the bias bar they would show the appropriate max power output for that setting.

    • @sidpandya6827
      @sidpandya6827 2 роки тому +4

      @@ganymede3141 When the wheels are pointed straight, regardless of what you pick as the bias, it splits it 50/50. The split is also kinda more just a handling bias kind of thing rather than power bias. It's really weird to get used to but i found anything between 60R-40F all the way to 80R-20F gives the best feeling and results on track. Hope that helps!

      @ganymede3141 2 роки тому +1

      @@sidpandya6827 Interesting. So even if you put 100% rear bias it still uses the front motor when going straight? Do you know if it's steering angle or yaw rate controlled? When coming out of turns, does it only put power in the rear until it's straight and then pull in the front motor also?
