    The 1964-1971 period of "The Temptations" represented the group during their golden era. The chemistry between all it's members was undeniable and incredible. Their look, sound, style and moves put them into a class on their own.
    Even the transition from David Ruffin to Dennis Edwards didn't see them miss a beat. It was smooth and flawless.....
    They laid down a successful blueprint that many other groups would copy for years to come. However watching them at their peak is truly something special.

      +brandon stewart, Otis voice is "soulful ballads"..........Motown took the decision to write songs suited for Eddi and David' voice. Even Paul did not get much songs to be a lead on. Eddi himself states in an interview..."David Ruffin & Eddi Kendricks: Soul Forever (featuring Dennis Edwards)" line 41:37........UA-cam video......That management made decisions that were not in the best interest of the group, and that he wanted to leave the group from 1965 because of that. You see, the Tempts were made up of FIVE LEAD SINGERS WHO TOOK LEADS.........THAT IS: until Smokey began writing songs for the group, pushing Paul in the background, he wrote songs specifically for David and Eddi, then Dennis.......A business decision.......You all need to do your homework. Anyway Otis sang lead on "Don't Send Me Away", I Ain't Got Nothing", "Darling Stand By Me", and "I See My Child". The first time I listened to "I See My Child", I thought it was a number from THE SPINNERS, hence a mistake. If Otis could not sing, the harmony would not be so fantastic, and everyone praise The Tempts on having the greatest harmony of all the groups of all times

    • @NelsonASU4
      @NelsonASU4 6 років тому +3

      Please don't sleep on Otis's voice lol. He played a huge role in their background vocals. Otis was 1st tenor, 2nd tenor and baritone so his vocal range is wide. According to him, the backgrounds was his baby so he loved it. Check out "Don't Send Me Away" and let me know what you think of Otis.

    • @jamesalford756
      @jamesalford756 4 роки тому

      Linda Hines, I don't need you to tell me where to go, unless you want to be told the same. My comment is addressed to who posted the comment to which I replied sweetie, asking if Eddie surpasses Phillip Bailey in the realm of Falsettos.

    • @therlowfoy9738
      @therlowfoy9738 4 роки тому +1

      james alford There would not have been. Phillip Bailey-Bailey is on record as to paying homage to Eddie. I know about Bailey’s range and his keen vocal leadership. But I’ll take Eddie because of his influence and versatility. He also had a stellar solo career with Grammy nominated music and million selling albums.

    • @jamesalford756
      @jamesalford756 4 роки тому

      I'm not quite sure how you can say that there would not have been a Phillip Bailey if it were not for Eddie Kendricks; Eddie didn't create the falsetto tenor, he's simply the most popular and well known. I'm extremely aware of Eddie Kendrick's career as a Temptation and as a solo artist, so I'm not quite sure of your point aside from expressing your knowledge, which anyone who's over the age of fifty and knows R&B music would be well aware of.

    • @therlowfoy9738
      @therlowfoy9738 4 роки тому

      james alford: My point is that music is not created in a vacuum. My assertion is that Eddie Kendricks set the template for Phillip Bailey and many of his contemporaries. Maybe it’s an overstatement to insinuate that Bailey would not have existed as a singer but he certainly would have had fewer influences as he was developing his distinctive vocal sound. Eddie is the greatest; I didn’t say he was the best. But In his prime, Eddie was singing a multiplicity of genres as a Temptation and successful as a solo artist. Few soul tenors could match Eddies’ style or versatility. All of these high singing brothers have been influenced by the thin man from Alabama.

    Dear precious friends, The family of God is intended to be the answer to loneliness. Some causes of loneliness are well known: We move too often to put down roots. We believe we can take care of ourselves, and we don’t have a reason to reach out. We’re separated by technology-each of us immersed in our own flickering screens.
    I feel the dark edge of loneliness, and you may too. This is one reason we need fellow believers. Hebrews concludes its deep discussion of Jesus’s sacrifice by encouraging us to meet together continually (10 : 25). We belong to the family of God, so we’re to love “one another as brothers and sisters” and “show hospitality to strangers” (13:1-2). If we each made an effort, everyone would feel cared for.
    Lonely people may not return our kindness, but this is no reason to give up. Jesus has promised to never leave nor forsake us (13 : 5), and we can use His friendship to fuel our love for others. Are you lonely? What ways can you find to serve the family of God? The friends you make in Jesus last forever, through this life and beyond.
    Who needs your friendship? How might you serve someone in your church or neighborhood this week? As you ponder these questions, I invite you to receive our Creator THIS VERY MOMENT by first acknowledging that you are a sinner in need of our Savior. Welcome Abba YHWH (Father God) through Yeshua (Jesus the Christ) into your life. Receive grace by believing in Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross, His death, burial and resurrection. You will then be justified in salvation and forever blessed with His abundant love by the Holy Spirit!
    May God bless you in the Glorious name of Jesus Christ our Lord and our Savior.❤️❤️❤️

      What you have to understand is that Eddie and Otis both knew and made it known that they were horrible dancers, which is why in the stage positions, you'd find Eddie behind Melvin and Otis behind Paul. Knowing you weakness is a great strength.
