ANDRE WARD'S SCHOOL OF BOXING: WHAT TO DO WHEN FACING AN OVERLY AGGRESSIVE FIGHTER

  • Опубліковано 18 вер 2013
  • FightHype.com was given exclusive access to watch super middleweight king Andre Ward get in a late night workout at 50 Cent's gym in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ward, who last fought over a year ago, looked sharp and showed no ill effects from the shoulder surgery he had several months ago. Check out how he looked as he worked the heavybag and gave advice on what to do when facing overly aggressive fighters.

Andre Ward was/is tremendously technically skilled in boxing. Remember watching him fight where he had his lead hand a few inches in front of the left side of his chin and his right hand to the right side of his chin and he would punch, pivot, slip, Bob, and weave without ever deviating his basic guard position!!! Awesome boxer!!!

What makes Ward so lethal is how much he learned from his last loss at age 9. I like Wards boxing brain more than even Floyd, because Ward has more balls, imo. I like Floyd, just, he wouldn't have fought a Kovalev. (Castillo was close but he wasn't a killer) Most importantly is how he fights under pressure. He is good like Porter up close, but has great timing and range with his jab. I'd love to see him fight again, but his insight on boxing is so grand that it's a blessing either way he goes - hell make a great commentator /coach.

blah blah punching mechanics isn’t the same as brute strength, that’s why you see strong wrestlers in mma who are very physically strong but they don’t hit with a ton of power. Somebody can have really good strength but not the power output mechanics to make them hit hard. That’s why looks can be very deceiving in fighting.

Some nice 👍🏼 low blows there as well also at 25 seconds in. He should put a pair of trunks on the bag so he could be more accurate in getting the groin area. He missed the elbows and headbuts in those combinations. I don’t see much of his clinches either though.

skills wise, they're quite similar, id say on par with eachother. The difference between rigondeaux and floyd though is there concentration. Floyd is concentrated in the fight the whole way. He knows his oponent is always dangerous. While rigondeaux gets too confident and too comfortable, he puts himself into cruise control. In other words he gets lulled to sleep easy when he's winning.

  • @nonyobussiness3440

Rigondeux is the best out of the five from a technical standpoint. He does everything right. Hopkins knows how to control the pace and rough you up and turn it into a dirty slow fight. 20 punch round. Broner is a flat footed stocker. He needs a lot of work but is hella talented.
