Like a Dragon: Ishin! is a standalone spinoff of the Like a Dragon series set in the 1860s Japan during the Bakumatsu Era at the end of the Edo Period. Japan is thrown into turmoil after the arrival of Western ships, galvanizing the imperialist ideals of the Shishi, who wish to rebuild the nation around the Emperor by overthrowing the Bakufu and expelling foreigners. The game features an open world focusing on a powerful feudal domain and castle town in east Japan, Tosa, and Japan's capital city at the time, Kyo. Kyo is divided into several key areas: the hospitality district Fushimi, the red light district Gion, the bustling Rakunai, the deserted Rakugai, and the perilous Mukurogai. The Shinsengumi (a notorious police force organized by the Bakufu) are headquartered in Kyo, where the majority of the game takes place. hi glp thanks for writing what the game is about so that i can know if i shall watch it (am going to watch it ) so again thanks and i would love if you can do that for other games that some pepole my not know about (even in is day and time some games will slips pass pepole and i have found many jewels of games by watching gameplay of them on youtubers who do gameplays like your channel )
I have played all of the yakuza and both judgement games. In all of them they managed to make it easy enough to keep track of characters and organizations but this one has so many characters and groyps and they are all new and at chapter 7 im feeling a bit lost. Hopefully that will change by the end
Canities subita, Hanpeitas hair turns white because of trauma and stress, this is because of the events in the story, with his adoptive brother and Yodo's abuse.
From what have I heard, OG was voiced by Nishitani's va, Keiji Fujiwara who happend to passed away. So, To respect his death, They decided to remove that scene entirely.
Enjoying the game so far! (2 hours in) Kept thinking tho, "dang these characters look farmiliar!" and when I saw Okita Soji (2:12:35), I had to look it up. (from Wikipedia) " It is a spin-off of the Like a Dragon series, formerly and commonly known in English localization as Yakuza." Ohhhh that makes so much sense! 🐧 Halfway through, and HUGE shoutout to whoever did the subtitles, they did a terrific job! No clue if they match the spoken Japanese, but they were written properly and not the janky translations we often get. Also, this storyline is super interesting and has so many twists and turns!
Finished! That was an incredible story, and the cutscene animations and acting were top notch. The music really drove the action/feelings during those scenes as much as the script. It amazes me how much video game production is so much like TV show or movie production, and whene it's well done, it's amazing. This one had all the emotions! Ok sleep now lol Well done again @ GLP, thank you! 🐧
Does anyone know the name of the guitar song that starts at 33:58? I skimmed every track of the entire original 2 disc ost and a playlist on UA-cam and still couldn’t figure out the name of the song.
Yes im one of the people who watch this for 10 hours man what a show all the twist and betrayals but Ryoma personality is the same from beginning to end with a maturity...gg
2:56:58 I caught this massive blunder when I was playing; just came here to check and it _is_ wrong Oryo calls Ryoma a "Sheep in wolf's clothes" when the saying is a wolf in sheep's clothing and even so a "Sheep in wolf's clothes" doesn't make sense. Like a harmless person disguised as a predatory person? Thank can't describe Ryoma.
The Yakuza series overall is really fun in an enjoyable world. I just can't stand how these cutscenes lose their production value halfway through like 15:55.
I think some of the themes they replaced were unfitting, like kuze's and akiyama and ryuji's fight that for some reason had yakuza 6's onomichi battle theme
@@teonetsux3150 oh this is a spin-off that takes place in the past during the bakumatsu, he and all of the other characters are loosely based off of real people in Japanese history
i wouldn't say so, not sure where you draw the comparison to GTA either tbh, the only similarity it has to GTA is that it's usually set in some kind of City hahahahahaa@@teonetsux3150
Before I purchase please tell me it has the famous Kiryu chan battles like in yakuza 1 those battles were soo fun. Well i guess they would now be cailed Saito chan battles now.
But tell me they kept the random battle encounters where if you hear Hajime-chan you encounter Okita in a one on one battle. Like in Yakuza Kiwami where if you hear Kiryu-chan you face Majima-san. It would be the icing on the cake of this stand alone spin off game

I swear, Jingu always ruins everything.
Love how it Feels like watching another movie with all the same actors from your favorite series
I mean that’s kinda what it is
I just love how at 1:58 they model the fake ryoma after the real life one! heres hoping someone makes a mod to play as him
That's the whole point of the plot, though. History remembers that man as Sakamoto Ryoma, and history remembers our Ryoma as Saito Hajime.

Maybe the tennen rishin user is the friend we made along the way...

Love that they use richardson's theme for Glover's boss fight

Yakuza: gets shot multiple times survives, gets shot by a literal helicopter gatling gun and survives
Ishin: gets cut once or twice, dies.
They still keeping the Old theme and is still cool
9:37:34 why did Hanpeita's hair turn white? and then back to black the next time you see him?
i too would like to know. tried to look it up after beating the game but couldnt find anything
Canities subita, Hanpeitas hair turns white because of trauma and stress, this is because of the events in the story, with his adoptive brother and Yodo's abuse.
wait they legit removed the father and son scene during the epilogue from og why?
From what have I heard, OG was voiced by Nishitani's va, Keiji Fujiwara who happend to passed away. So, To respect his death, They decided to remove that scene entirely.
Hearing Okamoto Nobuhiko (Todo) using his amai voice is so nice..
Just noticed that they removed the ending cutscene taking place in present day, that sucks honestly.
