This show will never get old in my book. They have so many memorable characters that just made the show what it is, a CLASSIC. For the ones who are no longer with us, may they R.I.P. 7/29/2022
I got my step son stuck on Dick Van Dike show he was about 7 use to crack up watching the series had him hooked on few old classic and this show .. kids should see how things were back in the day
The first time I watched this show was in 6th grade the day before Christmas break, my science teacher was very old fashion and showed us all the Christmas episode, the good ole days of 2019
Just to live in a town like Mayberry would be great..yes I know its fictional, but it looks like such a peaceful place to live ....instead of our shootings & robberies now days ..
I like watching the first time time on. trial & Andy says kees on saying to barney i could not have parked my car in the red zone area at all. Somebody else had to park my car there & andy was not going to sign the ticket at at all either..
According to the show he served in France during the war. My guess is he came home and the sheriff's position was opening up and him being the town hero naturally got the job.
He was a music teacher ... somewhere's in the Carolinas ... then he became a comedian with the stories about 'football" and his southern interpretation of "Romeo and Juliet" ...
Blockmasterscott, I Loved him as much as a Lawyer (Matlock) as I did as Sheriff Andy Taylor. But I get that You were making a Funny Baby. Guess Everyone else missed the (lol).
Well given it’s the sheriff’s vehicle, the office, not the guy, the county would pay the fine, but since they would also issue the fine, they wouldn’t bother.
💕💕 Love this show. So clean and fun. No short skirt's , no breast's hanging out, no foul language everything is covered up, as it should be.. I watch it everyday, and what a pleasure.🥀🥀🥀🥀..2022...
On account of being a male raised in modern times, I must point out that I see no issue with short skirts, not everything being covered up and all such things.
You lost your point by saying "as it should be". Firstly, it is an American show, means American freedom. Draconian laws on clothing have been drastically cut back because it is the exact opposite of freedom. Secondly, any morality views on dress code stem from Judaic Christian systems which is a horrible lie meant to allow certain people to assert their power over the masses. If not then explain why the Christians raped and murdered their way across the Pagan cultures of Europe when they refused to convert. Christians claim to follow Jesus but Jesus said not to judge, yet almost every single Christian considers themselves better than anyone else who is not a Christian and often considers themselves better Christians than other Christians. Some of the most judgy lot in the entire world. Now consider that for thousands of years before even the Jews were a thing, humans were wearing revealing clothing. It is human nature, just get used to it and quit being so judgy, you are failing the premise behind your moral bullshit. What you should have said was, "intellectual writing that didn't need to hold the viewers attention with attractive women in revealing clothing. The show had writers and actors that were intellectuals that could communicate eloquently without the need to use ignorant language." Since of course during these times people believed that a fowl mouth was the indicator of an ignorant mind.
In that first season, Andy was the colorful, ecentric character. This scene was based on his storytewlling routines he used as a speaker and comic. After that, they made Barney the more offbeat one, with Andy being more straight up.
Everyone else: Aw, so wholesome. Me: Andy controls this town with an iron fist. As both sheriff and justice of the peace, he is literally above the law. And when he is challenged, he selected a totally unqualified stand in knowing he could easily beat him. After all, his defense was basically that he hadn't done it before so he hadn't done it now. Will he use the same defense when overwhelming Barney after he is finally tried for his wife's murder? Whether the fire hydrant charge was true or whether someone deliberately did it as Andy speculates is irrelevant. What is terrifying is how Andy is clearly above the law in Mayberry.
Some kids pushed the car in front of the fire hydrant. Good clean fun. Not like the stupid things that kids do today...when they're not playing Xbox or hanging on their Iphone.

I think that Andy got his point across to Barney. Barney quickly got up and walked away really quick. Funny.
