607 witnesses against The Watchtower

- How many supporters does The Watchtower actually have for its date for the destruction of Jerusalem, 607 BCE? Why are Watchtower leaders so careful to skirt around the fact that there is NO support for this date among experts in ancient history, archaeology, chronology, Old Testament or ANY other scholarly discipline? Why are 'official' comments about this issue in Watchtower publications either devious or massively ill-informed? Whether it be deliberate deception, self-deception, wish-fulfilment, or just plain ignorance -- can YOU trust The Watchtower?

I read Carl Olaf book and crisis of conscience. I’m still studying carls book. I’m a jw but I’m astonished at the dishonesty of the WT society. This has been a real eye opener for me. I feel that it’s no use trying to explain this to my jw family or any jw as they cannot believe it. It has to be realized by each individual, otherwise it can become dangerous for those who share. Thank you so much for your honest and open research

I've asked this question on other sites that address the issue re. the 1914 CE teaching. So far no replies . My question was ,' Where in the Bible are Christians told or commanded to come up with a specific date of Christ's return or. ' presence. ' ? I expect to receive no valid answer to that question. I have never been a member of this religion but enjoy your videos that dig deep into their often strange teachings.

Thank you for your encouragement. There is NO place in the Word where Christ authorizes even speculation about times and seasons, let alone authorizes the PREACHING of times and seasons. One of the most memorable moments in our ministry occurred when we showed an elderly ex-JW named Doris the front cover of Charles Taze Russell's 2nd book -- "The Time is at Hand" (1889). Just before we showed her the book, we read with her Luke 21:8, "the due time has approached" (NWT), but in the NASB and RSV, Russell's exact title, "the time is at hand". Of course, the context of Christ's warning is precisely the presence of false prophets and false messiahs. Luke also is the only one of the Gospel writers who gives us Christ's strict words to the Apostles, "it does not belong to YOU to know the times and seasons" (Acts 1:7). If the Apostles can't know, and even angels and the SON don't know (Matt 24:36), how can we endure the colossal arrogance of ORGS which specialize in times and seasons? The cults and even some TV ministries specialize in interpretation of prophecy and end times. Without these emphases, they would not exist. They all claim knowledge no one else has, and specific insight into the last days. Fear, not faith, is their calling card, their stick to scare us into the kingdom, which is the carrot.
Good work on this. I am 69 and I am only just studying the JWs as I have grand children who are studying with them and I am finding it hard to wrap my head around their doctrine so I can somehow intervene

We wanted to warn them about DO's and DON'Ts -- triggers almost guaranteed to shut down conversation with JW's. Traps which non-JWs tend to walk into innocently, thinking they are just "telling the truth". We want your relationship with your grandchildren to continue.

Good question. Hard to see how they can officially drop it. even let it fade away, what with so many still alive who remember the 'this generation' insistence even in the 80s & 90s. The 'Tower is indeed in a no man's land they have never known before -- no chronological carrot! Or can they create one -- just as they did in the 1940s, by the simple expedient of moving the end of 6000 years forward by a century? But, of course, that still enabled them to hang on to 1914.
Yes, it maybe took 10-15 years from now to defend 1914 but then must give up because no overlapping generation can anymore stand...that will cause many to leave but for majority they just OBEY that as NEW LIGHT...

You may not see this, i see you are very active on your channel. I am currently part of JW from birth but awakening slowly. I am incredibly saddened. I'm not sure i can believe in a god that isn't the Jehovah I've been taught about, but we'll see where this journey leads me.

So, could the jws be right with their interpretation of gentle times workout? If not 1914 then could Jesus have started ruling 20 years later? 1934?
The chapter they use -- Daniel 4 -- does not give ANY of us permission to assume a second level of interpretation involving a day/year switch. As usual, JWs are cherry-picking verses from all over the Bible, NOT sticking to the text and context. The Bible is not designed to be treated as a jigsaw puzzle.

Hi Aaron -- The 15 million was an estimate of ALL those who have been directly victimized by the WT. At least 4-5 million have died "faithful" JWs. Then there are those who have associated with the JWs, but never been regular publishers. We know of many such poisoned "people of goodwill", who remained outside the ORG officially, yet aloof from "organized religion" due to drinking JW propaganda about "Babylon the great".
607 jerusalem was besieged but that went on for many years I believe. It didn’t fall util 587 bce
it is unlikely that jerusalem could have been besieged in 607 as this would have predated the battle of carcamesh (605) by 2 years and been 2 years after the battle of megiddo (609) and thus while jerusalem was a vassal of egypt. egyptian power had not fallen until 605. according to the writings of josephus, the first siege of jerusalem occurred in 602 after king jehoiakim stopped paying tribute, but this can also fall under questioning. what we do know is that a siege of jerusalem occurred around 597, whether or not there was a siege before that i am not certain, but it wouldn’t have taken place in 607.

607 . Say 607 . 0 . Now say 60 + 70 = 130 ; 60 + 07 = 67 ; and 6 + 0 + 7 + 0 = 13 . Now say 130 + 67 +13 = 210 ; 210 divided by 3 equals 70 . 70 : the 70 years prophesied .
