I'm old enough to remember her from the 70's. As a young man I knew her for all the 'young man' reasons, lol But as an adult I watched the tv documentary about her life, she really was a trail blazer, yes she had a chequered life but I'd encourage folk to watch the tv doc and find out more about Mary. She was a human being and certainly didn't deserve the trouble she attracted from the likes of Mary Whitehouse and indeed the Police. The Harold Wilson connection is very interesting too. RIP Mary Millington.
@@steffanhoffmann8937 I'm not sure what you mean exactly ? Are you asking if I'd be proud of her ? Or maybe disown her for what she was ? I can't honestly answer that as she wasn't a member of my family. We all make choices in life, none of us are perfect.
Yes I remember her in the 1970s. I must say that her movies and her career were a bit lurid in that era but the movies were not explicit , in fact in some ways boring and tame by modern standards. Mary was a beautiful woman , tragic unhappy life.
I grew up as a spotty teenager enjoying Mary's content ( boys will be boys) and I am sure there will be the usual people out there who will criticize her for the way she earned a living, but I feel she had a kind heart and she did what she did for the right reasons particularly looking after her mum, she was without doubt a vulnerable person who had a tough life and as is often the case in life unscrupulous people took advantage of her, I also think she stood for what she believed in and was a fighter, I think the establishment were out to get her, the police in particular and in the end she couldn't deal with it all. Rip Mary, bless you. xxxx
David Sullivan was very careful not to have photos of his dick all over magazines. He encouraged her into things he would never do himself which is how you know somebody is manipulative. Mary was very beautiful and her lifestyle was hers to choose which was fine. The manipulative men in her life deserve most of the blame for Mary's demise. A hypocritical society also held a lot of blame. Many women in the 60's appeared nude in movies but because it was 'artful' that was OK apparently. Many young adolescent guys in particular appreciated finding a discarded magazine containing Mary, helping many through teenage years. She was ahead of her time in her bravery but suffered greatly from the hypocrisy of society. The prudish elements of society set out to destroy her, the 2 faced politicians who used her services did the same, allegedly including Harold Wilson, then Prime Minister, the bent coppers charging her protection money for her sex shop also ended up doing the same and for what, choosing to do with her own body that which was her right to do. Sadly, when someone becomes a commodity, there is always a vile 'businessman' seeking to exploit that commodity. Beautiful Lady gone far too soon.
Thank you for this Paul. A victim of circumstance indeed, poor girl. I am glad the church no longer buries suicides out side the graveyard as they used to. R I P Mary.

Oh this was such a sad story.I have never heard of this lady, she led a very interesting life in her adult years. She never deserved to be treated like she did by the police, and in her early years it was so sad to hear that she was bullied when she was in school and a teenager. She sounded like a lost soul bless her, hopefully she is at peace with her mum in heaven.Thankyou Paul, this was very interesting and that church was lovely.❤️❤️❤️

I don't regard her as a heroine but as a victim & I regard the who made money from her as pimps. She was a lovely looking girl. No one would wish this type of life for a sister, daughter, niece or grand daughter. May she rest in peace.

And she nursed her mum for ten years. And yes Paul you are so right Mary needed to pay for her mums care what a wonderful person she was. This was a really sad one, the reason why she was hounded to death was she probably threatened if she named names about the sordid goings on of certain high profile individuals, hypocrites the lot of them. didn't realise she was so short she always came across as really tall in her photographs. so sad she was forced into taking her own life. makes you wonder if she did take her own life under the circumstances. I'm old enough to remember her. What a shame! She was years ahead of her time. Today, no one would bat and eyelid, but way back then, "Well I never", the prides would say. Well, in private, they would never admit to their own feelings. Would they? She was dragged before awful news headlines as a wrong person. But no! She was a human being like the rest of us. Some folk pretend to be whiter than white. Hmmmm? God bless you Mary,
I remember, as a young soldier stationed in Germany during the late 70s, listening one morning to BFBS radio. It was the 'Rick Lunt show', (Patrick Lunt) the flagship show of the station. He interviewed her. I had no idea who she was at the time. She went into explicit detail about two items that she always kept in her handbag and where she would place these items, I couldn't believe what I was hearing on a live radio show.
Tragic story Paul. I remember the name but not the face. What a beautiful Church and graveyard, typically English. I also loved the brick and red tile house next to the Church, probably the vicarage.
Another great video Paul. I really liked this particular cemetery, beautiful. I also very much liked the old church, especially the ornate, well I think they're ornate lol, steel hand railings leading up to the main door. Although I'm not a very religious person, I find old churches so peaceful. It's the calmness that encapsulates the dwelling. Ideal if one is wanting to escape a crappy day for a minute or two. Sad to see ppl leave this world due to extreme stresses of life. This video touched me more than any other so far. And I'm sorry that at times i'm sharing so much on your comment section. Thing is I really don't have anyone that I feel comfortable enough to share these thoughts, not that I would anyway as I'm that type of person who keeps all that locked in, but for whatever reason I can open up and talk about stuff on your channel. Maybe it's the anonymity of it. Be heard but not seen. In any case I find doing so cathartic for me. It helps. Thanks again Paul. Dig your sense of humor..keep em smiling. -Jerry
She was the same height as me, 4ft 11. Bless her. I vaguely remember her and her death being in the news. Pleased you actually were able to visit the church this time, Paul. Well done. 👍😃
Excellent presentation again Paul, I was around at this time (in my 20s) but cant remember this very troubled and pressured young woman hassled by society and persecuted by the various enforcement people...peace at last although yet another young life ended way to soon..respect Paul till the next one..

The hypocrisy and ironies of society have not been lost on me. I truly believe she was what one would consider to be a good person! She was paying the police for protection, yet getting raided in spite of this.
This was a fascinating life story and full of irony. Mary lived a good life despite the circumstances and loved and tried so hard to care for her Mum. Wonderful courageous woman being a woman in the 70's was full of dangers. Liberation for women was an illusion really!
Lovely video Paul as always, i showed a lot of Marys films in the 70s and 80s when i was a Cinema Projectionist they all did excellent business very much like the Confessions Films did at the time, and yes a record run of nearly 4 years for her film "Come Play With Me" her biggest success at the CLASSIC Moulin Cinema Soho London. I feel a lot of people at the top made a lot of money out of Mary this is how it goes sometimes in the Entertainment industry. Thanks for all the information what a sad life she had Bless her now at peace out of this mad world! - Thanks Paul always enjoy your very intersting videos - Stay Safe. - Mark

Thanks Paul for all your videos you put so much time in bringing them to us looking forward to seeing more of the lovely places you visit lots of success in the future Marie Dublin Ireland
Yes, very interesting. I always find past infamous and famous peoples autobiographies really interesting. She had a very sad life. I take my hat off to her for nursing her Mother for 10 years, anyone who has to look after an elderly parent will know its bloody hard work. She done what she had to do at the time, so fair play to her and was probably a lovely person to be around. God bless and I'm sure she will be blessed in heaven. Don't judge unless you yourself want to be judged. Their ain't a man on this planet that hasn't enjoyed a video naughty. Lol
It's so sad when someone takes their own life I know exactly how they feel. Because I have mental health problems myself and have spent many times in hospital from the age of 14. I am now 56 years old and most days for me are a real struggle. And all this because of something terrible happened to me when I was just 6 years old.

It's nice that you visit, final resting places & also give out the history of persons we're curious about .Well done;you serve an important link!
Another fantastic video Paul thank you for all the hard work you put in. And looking forward to the next video x
So interesting to hear thank you ,such a sad life she had RIP Mary xx
She was the same height as me, 4ft 11. Bless her. I vaguely remember her and her death being in the news.
Pleased you actually were able to visit the church this time, Paul. Well done. 👍😃
My Nan was 4'6"
Excellent presentation again Paul, I was around at this time (in my 20s) but cant remember this very troubled and pressured young woman hassled by society and persecuted by the various enforcement people...peace at last although yet another young life ended way to soon..respect Paul till the next one..
Died so young
Another great video has always Paul 👍
Although I have never heard of her, once again Paul you made her life sound interesting. What a lovely church ⛪ thanks Paul for another interesting video ❤
Hi Paul..I don’t remember this lady but it’s so heartbreaking and very sad to think how she was treated ..So young as well …So respectfully done ..Thankyou Paul I really enjoy your videos..I’m so glad that you eventually got in to a church…I have the same problem doing my genealogy …Best wishes 👍
Good show as allways paul good interesting viewing and well documented..
Very nicely done with respect as always
Such a tough and sad life! May she finally Rest In Peace 🙏🏻
She lived the high life don't worry 😂
I never knew who she was before the video thanks for sharing and doing the video a sad end ,she went through a lot .
A lady who lived life to the max. No one could ever deny her that. Intriguing vid, Paul. 👍
- Mark
Thanks Mark… 🙏
great video thanks for sharing
I've heard her name but didn't know all this about her. What a shame at such a young age and so quickly after her mum poor lady. RIP Mary, I hope you have finally found peace.

Thanks Paul for the video once again
Brilliant video again Paul. Your videos are very informative you show so much respect in your videos..
Brilliant as always Paul, well done.
God bless you and hope Mary is at peace now xx
Stay strong Nick, and talk to the right people if you can. 🙏
Me 2 nick. Repeated childhood trauma ruined my life. Amazing what trauma does
@@Tracey..H Trauma is a terrible thing Try and keep positive.
Gorgeous cemetery. Ty for sharing. Subbed

Hi once again a great video. You truly do give everyone you cover the greatest of respects. I googled Mary Maxted and found that she starred in On The Buses playing Irises mother. The episode is called Private Hire. Best wishes and keep up the great work. Matt
Very good video as usual I follow you you’re a very nice person Eddie UK I say that because I’ve just come back from Italy after many years and other countries before but you’re so sincere in what you do thank you
Very interesting, would have been nice to have left a small bunch of flowers 💐
I always enjoy watching your videos. If you stumble over your words... You just go back to what you're talking about, and carry on. Down to earth, and to the point in your thoughts. Keep up the great work.
Cheers 🙏
