Looks easy enough. My error code was also P0218 - Thermostat Rationality (replace thermostat). I had to wait a couple of days for warmer weather to do the repair, so I kept a constant eye on the engine temp. It rose slightly higher than normal, but never rose above the 1st mark (still in the bottom 1/4 of the gauge). My issue started once the weather turned cold. It reset the first time, but now it's 2 days without a reset, so time to swap it out.
This is the same exact issue im having now and i couldn’t understand how my check engine light went off when it was hot out and than came right back on once it got colder
You mentioned mixing distilled water with 50-50 anti freeze. I think you meant mix 50% distilled water with full strength antifreeze. 50-50 is usually referred to pre-mixed antifreeze.
I bought my Pops his first pitbull. He heard the stories and I wanted to show him it's how you raise them. After 7 years CoCO and him was best friends. Unfortunately his neighbor Changed his antifreeze and let it go all over the ground. It ran down the hill into a puddle. She drank some and 2 weeks later she Unfortunately passed. They love the sweetness. It's extremely toxic.
I changed my actuator twice on the driver side and it still won't work properly like for instance if I want heat it will blow heat for a little while then go back cool but then if I want it to blow cool it don't blow cold enough but I know I gotta change my radiator and thermostat it's been on my 2014 ever since I had it
How long should I have the vent screw loose while the car is running? 15, 20 minutes? Or until no more fluid comes out from the vent screw on the new thermostat? And should the heat be on? Any other variables for this process? Thanks!
Heat on recommended and it took me about 3 rounds of about 3-5min a piece to bleed completely. Try not to let it get too high in temp as you're doing it
Did he tell ppl to get 50/50 coolant and add water?! I know what the jug says but if you’re trying to tell ppl that don’t know how to do things how, make sure you give correct info.
I could have explained that better for sure no need to be feisty. I had the concentrate and mixed it 50/50 but I was trying to explain both options including the premixed and ended up stumbling.
Between both lines. It usually doesn't fluctuate too much once bleeding is done. It will fill all the channels and radiator and then level out in the overflow. Hope that helps

When a headache. Good luck!

LJ - Thanks for explaining the vent screw and the process to purge the air. I feel confident to do the job!
Awesome! best of luck with your GC
Thanks I needed to see how easy this is for my daughter's 2015
Glad it was helpful!
Outstanding!!! Thank you!! I was worried I would have to go to a mechanic to get this done and you literally made my day!!! Thank you subscribed!!! 😀
You are welcome! You got it 😁
Excellent presentation, you’re very well spoken, thanks for the easy to follow instruction.
You're very welcome!
Thank You…Going to give it a try…appreciate the in depth explanation
Of course! Good luck
@@LJsGarage It went better than I expected…Hardest part was waiting in Auto Parts line!! 😂
Excellent tutorial buddy, you helped me solve my problem.
Glad to hear it! Way to get it done
your vid of removing the air intake was a lot easier
Glad I could help out!
Thank you my brother. Worked like a charm.
Glad it helped!
Great work,
Great work
bro !!
Thanks 🔥

That's heartbreaking 😢 glad I said something then!
Thank you LJ!
No problem my friend!
If I clear this code with a reader and it doesn’t come back, does that mean I don’t need to replace the thermostat?
Yeah I'd say your good. Mine came back every other day so I knew it was bad

Good luck that's a pain to track down the issue. Mine ended up being a leak in the condenser
Love this. Thank you
You are so welcome!
Thanks !
No problem!
Good video. Did you need to change the temperature sensor as well?
Also what's the method to get the code to go away?
I ended up getting a cooler with new sensors installed so went ahead with that. I needed a reader to clear the code
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I just did this and now I’m getting 2 error messages, 1) service Electronic Throttle control 2) service electronic stability control. Any guidance?
Electrical connector on the TB or clean it with contact cleaner. No idea for the stability control based on where you did the job.

15, 20 minutes?
Or until no more fluid comes out from the vent screw on the new thermostat?

Thanks so much!
Coolant is super bad for small animals. All coolant has bitter guard in it if you bought it from the parts store. Not sure about factory fill.
Very true
How long does it take for your check engine light to go out after you replace your thermostat
I had to clear mine with a reader
Not sure you mix the 50/50 with distilled water. It's already pre-mixed, right? Thanks for the vid, though!
His coolant wasn't the 50/50 it was the concentrate. Not sure why he said that but if you look at the end when he holds them up it's the concentrate
I used both I had a leftover bottle of premixed and then I had concentrate that I diluted.

Great video, but in 2018 the bleeder screw on housing was removed
Remove the sensor. You can bleed it at the sensor.
Thanks!
@@Ada-zn3pwwhich sensor?
Thank you
You're welcome!
Hello i raplaced the thermostat on my 2019 grand cherokee but there was no bleeder screw how do i get the bubbles out?
The funnel method id recommend
Is it called “water outlet with thermostat?” I have the same code and it will cost me $420 for the dealership to do it.
If it's the same code yes
I believe it's the same part
My A/C doesn’t blow anymore could this be the issue? If so will it work after changing what you changed?
If anything this would affect your heat but not a/c I wouldn't think. This controls engine operating temp related to coolant not refrigerant
Ok are you familiar with the codes P0440 and P0128 because those are the codes I am getting.
Is it the same for a 2018?
Should be minus the bleed screw
Mine is same code it’s not overheating think it’s the sensor?
2014 Grand Cherokee Overland v6
Yeah good chance it is
Thanks but unfortunately it's too blurry to see what you're doing my friend. we didn't get to see the thermostat.
Sorry about that!
Do you have the part number for the thermostat?
902-3036
Same for v8 2014?
As far as I know identical!
Appreciate you brudda!
What the coolant level should be in the overflow bottle when engine is cold?
Between both lines. It usually doesn't fluctuate too much once bleeding is done. It will fill all the channels and radiator and then level out in the overflow. Hope that helps
@@LJsGarage great to know.
I had thermostat replaced and coolant flushed a couple weeks after.
I’ll check the level later tonight. Thanks.
Did you need to reset the CEL or did it go off once the part was replaced?
I'm pretty certain you'll need to reset it, AutoZone can do it for you or if you have the tool you can do it.
@@miamidolfan19 Thanks, going to reset it today with my reader since after a few trips it didn't clear itself.
Glad you were able to get an answer!
Uh, he skipped the part where he changed out the thermostat. Is this a joke?
not sure what you are talking about but 2:23 I show the two screws holding it in and unscrewing them not sure what other information you need.
Part number?
902-3036 I believe was the dorman part.
Thanks for your a input
No worries!
thank you!!
