A closer look at my Springfield XD 45. Zero malfunctions, accurate and comfortable. I've had it for a while and just decided to start reviewing a few of my favorite handguns.
The HS2000 (Hrvatski Samokres (Croatian Pistol)), or XD (X-treme Duty) are a series of semi-automatic pistol that are polymer-framed and striker-fired. Manufactured in the city of Karlovac, Croatia by HS Produkt (formerly I.M. Metal), the Springfield Armory XD or XDM is the marketing name for the weapon, which is licensed and sold in the United States by Springfield Armory, Inc.
In 2002, Springfield Armory, Inc. negotiated licensing rights to the US market, and changed the name to the XD-9 (X-treme Duty 9×19mm Parabellum). Springfield Armory has since expanded the line to include ten models in three different calibers and five different cartridges, seven barrel lengths, and four finishes (black, bi-tone, olive drab frame, and the newest dark earth frame). In 2006, the industry press awarded the XD-45 the title of Handgun of the Year from both American Rifleman magazine and The Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence. The XD(M) series of pistols won Handgun of the Year again in 2009.
The HS2000 is a short recoil-operated locked breech striker fired semi-automatic pistol.
Most HS2000s have dual captive recoil springs; however, the XDM and Tactical 5" models have non-captive springs. They use a polymer frame with steel inserts, mounting rail and trigger-mounted safety. An indicator protrudes from the rear of the slide when the striker is cocked. A loaded chamber indicator pivots up on top of the slide when a round is in the chamber being both visual and tactile. An ambidextrous magazine release is also standard. Take down of the pistol is through a lever on the left side of the frame that rotates up, allowing the slide to move forward off the frame. This is very similar to the mechanism of take down as seen in pistols manufactured by SIG SAUER.
I had the service model in .45acp. I sold it, and i dont know why. it was one of the best pistols ive had
I had the XD-45c with the stainless slide and OD green grip. I really liked it. It was a very reliable gun and very unique looking.
I dont care what anyone says. The regular XD's are an unbelievable value and can shoot as accurate as you want them too. Plus no need to replace the slide release, mag release or even do a trigger job. Also the firing pin indicator and loaded chamber indicator's are very well done. People just dont know what they're missing.
I can never understand for the life of me why so many glock lovers wanna knock on the xd. They have this almost blind loyalty that shuts the door on anything outside looking in. They act as if the glock is the ONLY reliable pistol, the ONLY REAL poly pistol the ONLY pistol you can bet your life on when in fact now adays there are MANY guns that match it's track record. It's like they feel threatened or something by it.
XD's, reliable, inexpensive, accurate, and smooth trigger. Always enjoy your straight to the point vids.
Like deja vu for me. I carry the exact same gun, in either of the exact same holsters, using the exact same ammo. I freaking love my XD45.
What a beast. XDs are somewhat magical.
love the XD. I wish they would come out with a subcompact XD in the 45. Great vid.
Great review I have been debating on the XD or the XDM thank you for the best review I've seen yet on UA-cam with the shortest timeframe thank you
Thats one beautiful 45 you got there, now I got to get me one, great review
The Croatians really hit one out of the park, when they designed the XD pistols. I do like the looks of the XDm a little better, but both are great handguns. Thanks for sharing
I bought mine last week, I live in ca. and we have a 10 day wait on handguns. I cant wait to pick it up because i'v been wanting one for a while and my local gun shop rarely ever gets them in stock.
@TheTactical6string
They really are great value guns. My XD 45 is my home defense weapon of choice. It stays loaded, cocked, and ready by my night stand at all times. Just like an insurance policy, I'm glad it's there if I need it, but hope I never ever have to use it.
As for the thumb safety, I know not everyone likes them, but I like having it there to use if I want to.
@TheTactical6string
Agreed! XD's are an EXCELLENT value, and people really don't know what they're missing. Absolutely love this gun, and I feel very safe when I have it close to me.
XDs are excellent guns. i shot that exact same model(the xd45 service model is my favorite)and loved it. im a real big glock guy as well but i dont feeed into the so called rivalry between glocks and XDs and XDMs(which are also great). Gread vid brotha
Can't go wrong with the Springfield XD Its nice seeing a glock lover like you and not so stuck up on there glocks like most can be .
I've got a 4" service model as well, regarding the ammo, I've only had issues with TULA ammo, some underpowered rounds werent able to eject themselves and I had to manually cycle the slide to load the next round. Ran into the same problem with 1-2 out of 500 or so Remington UMC. Winchester white box never had issues at all. (along with the Cor-bon, Critical Defense, and Federal Hydra-shok)
Concise, to the point, well lit, and interesting.. Perfection. Thumbs up from Ca.!
I had my paws all over the XD's yesterday . Very Nice !!!
@OilTheGun Cool. I still don't think this one's for me but your enthusiasm is really infectious. I'm really enjoying the concise "This is what it does and why it's good" style. I look forward to more like this if you've got the time.
I had the same hand gun but with out the thumb safety. I had several issues that made me get rid of it. I still like the gun and will definitely be getting another one down the road. Great video.
love your reviews...just love your shootin better!!!
Really Good review! Im very impressed keep up the good work!
@tacticalpartner
They are very good! I have an XD 45 and an XDm 9mm compact. Both are excellent pistols, and a great value for the money.
Very good comparisons. The G21 is a real handful for sure.
Very nice pistol !!!
good looking pistol with the black slide..nice lines
Cool! I have the Compact XD-45 with the xtended mag for full size grip. I agree with you on the grip thing. It's just a better fit for my hands than the Glock. I did a litle cut myself on my CB holster. I wish I had the thumb safety on mine. I come from a Military background and got used to the Beretta safety.
Great video. Look forward to more reviews
Thank u sir keep up the great vids!!!
Great looking pistol. Love those sights :)
You can get a 5" with the thumb safety
Yea first handgun I got when I turned 21. Two years and still going without one flaw. Eats any ammo I've put in it.
The Glock 21 grip is too big for me. No excuses or bad jokes. Is this thing finally down to the G19 width of one-size fits most or still a little chunky? Call me a fanboy. I'm curious.
I'm always amazed by the XDM 9s and M&Ps in 9mm for tiny hands because they work, I haven't tried their .45s for me. Do these fit "normal hands" comfortably?
first time i saw one with a thumb safety. don't see any negatives having that either,
Sweet and That's what I'm talking about. "OohRah"
@OilTheGun cause they have no clue what there talking about, they sit there and say "its a waste, i'll never use it, its worthless, there are already two other safety's why do i need that one" they don't get it that its optional, and when needed, a great addition
Thanks for the video!
Great video... but I can never figure out where that extra "a" is in Hornady... sounds like it comes in at the end of the word... oh well I guess i'll never figure it out... lol Thanks for the quick review!
lol, still waiting on that 3.8 compact (or not), XDm .45 Nice vid
I own one and I love it. I refuse to own a glock and be a follower.
Does this have conventional rifling ? So you can shoot lead ?
SWEET!
@OilTheGun bullseye!!
im still waiting for xdm 3.8 in .45acp :)
I've been really thinking on what 45 i want to purchase and I've looked into the xd alot! I want to shoot but i haven't how does it handle to u my friend?
my xd 45 doesnt have the safety. honestly i wouldnt use it though
I alway shoot low with mine, I find myself having to aim a bit high even at 5 yards. Any tips oilthegun?
is there any brand of ammo you have had trouble with in it?
Why the XD 45 when you have an XDm?
1 person flipped shit when you pulled the trigger lol
