Gazza really hit his stride during this season - what a great shame he was sold due to the club's mounting debt problems. Had he remained along with Waddle & Lineker then it's possible the club could have achieved so much more.
I agree Gazza that side season was incredible and had his best season in a spurs shirt. Shame we had to sell him as he was my favourite player and what a player he was. That would of been a dream come true to of seen Gazza, Waddle and Lineker in the same spurs team together, we saw it for England but not for Spurs unfortunately.
Good team, ought to have really kicked on a developed into a proper force in the game going into the mid 90s but obviously it wasn't to be. When you consider the team that eventually would dominate the 90s would be Man United, well at this stage of the proceedings Tottenham were just as good as them, and could have progressed just as well from 1991 had things just been different, I gather the main thing that should have been different was the finances. The boys in shorts did their bit, the prats in suits and ties were the ones who failed.
Was often called a 2-man team, Lineker & Gascoigne. An asinine thing to call them, just like how the title winning Blackburn side were called a 1-man team; Shearer and 10 other players. Load of rubbish. Just like Dalglish, Venables built a squad of 15 or 16 good players all of who came together well and were a match for anyone in the country. Lineker & Gascoigne were just the icing on an already tasty cake.
So glad I discovered your channel. Late 1980s and 1990s was my era.

Since the foundibg of the Premier league in 1992 Spus have won only two trophies (2 League Cups), all the other proposed 6 ESL teams 8n England have won at least 10 often more.Also Spus are the only side in the 6 not to have won a European trophy in that time.
Probably because they aren't a big club.
