Spurs always have been worth watching for one reason or another since the late 50s , mostly playing flair Football with a few dips here and there , the fans are amongst the most loyal in the country too , contrary to certain sections of the media's opinion at times.

I was still at school but went to pretty much every home game that year. Still love that Admiral kit, it was just when new flashier kits were coming in. Brilliant memories thanks.

Admiral were definitely the best kit makers this country has ever seen and the Spurs home kit is probably my favourite

I went to all but 2 home games that season and it was such a good season to watch Spurs, particularly as we got to see a lot of teams we never normally played. Unfortunately one of the games I missed was the Bristol Rovers game.

A great season of atmosphere and fun for us kids. Especially behind the goal in the 9-0!

Blackpool and Palace away were also covered by tv. Went to all the home game, all London aways, (including Orient and Arsenal friendlies) plus Luton and Southampton.

I remember the Luton game. It was called off on the Saturday because of a frozen pitch. It was played a few days later, you beat us 4.1 I think. Spurs brought the biggest following I've ever seen at Luton. I remember Southampton v Spurs on MOD, they played out a draw to both win promotion on the last day of the season.

I'd guess season 1977-78 must have been a bit of a culture shock for Spurs and their fans, what after having experienced such much glory previously, though no doubt other Second Division clubs viewed Spurs' visit as a "cup final" of sorts, a bit like when Manchester United were in the second tier, a few seasons previous. And in common with United, I don't think there was much doubt that Spurs would make an immediate return to the top flight, though in Spurs' case it was a bit of a close thing in the end, ie on goal difference over Brighton. When after they were looking more or less home and dry at one stage, they seemed to suffer a case of the jitters/promotion nerves, in the vital final run-in.

Should have walked away with the title but dropped silly points at home. Match of the day showed the win at sunderland and the crucial last day draw at southampton but sadly they seem to have been wiped.

In fairness only lost one game at home all season and that was the penultimate home game against Sunderland but there was a wobble starting with the Mansfield game where the team only won one out of six ironically against the team that ended up winning the league but fortunately Perrymans late winner against Hull in the penultimate game was the turning point
