    This the only common video on UA-cam I could find that shows the correct technique for the cross-chest carry and forklift (armpit hook). Back in my day, we didn't have a rescue buoy to use.

      "Reach, throw, row, go". You're right. Swimming out to them ("go") should be your last option, particularly if they are an adult. I'm not really sure if the same risk applies with a young child, like 3 or 4 years old. I have no idea what a 3 or 4 year old could do that would drag me down, but maybe I just don't know any better.

      @@dacypher22 Even a small child/toddler could pull an adult down that had insufficient technique, skill and stamina, which represents the overwhelming majority of swimmers. This is especially true in fresh water.

    Interesting. The "upright crawl stroke" is actually how I normally swim. I can do the normal freestyle stroke but never feel completely comfortable having my face underwater between breaths and I like to see where I am going. While it obviously isn't a competitive stroke, I am not a swimming competitor. But it is good to know there is at least some use to how I swim and it isn't absolute rubbish. I never knew it had a name until now.

      in waterpolo is used also.
      but you should practice and get confortable making bubbles under water. practice at home with a cube of water.

      How far or how long do you swim during a session? I once swim an hour with this upright stroke/tarzan stroke/lifeguard approach stroke.. and it give me neck pain.. i heard using this stroke for long duration can lead to severe neck pain... try to learn the casual front crawl.. you can watch graceful frestyle by shinji.. its definitely suitable for us non competitive and adult swimmer

    Every rescue was perfect! You guys are pretty good! But not better than me, lol. We don't use fins, so you have to have a strong💪 kick, to be able to to sustain yourself in deep water and maintain control of the victim.
    This video is good stuff, one of the best I've seen on UA-cam!

    I think the tube system is kind a too complicate for panic victim. I wouldn't know what to do with tube except grab and hold it.

    • @2009dudeman
      @2009dudeman 2 роки тому +1

      That's what's good about it, all the victim has to do is grab it. The rescuer does the rest. Whether it's pulling you using the cord, or swimming behind you and clipping it on. All you have to do is stay still and hold the tube. Of course if you stay calm and just hold the tube it will be easier for everyone, as they will feel safe enough to come close and clip it to you like a life vest.
      Life rings are ok, but trying to hold onto one flips it up and can smack the victim in the face of they aren't careful, which can cause even more panic. A life vest isn't a great option right away as they won't be able to get it on without panicking. A rescue board is a great solution as it's highly bouyant but it's not really used much from what I've seen outside of ocean rescues where the victim may be far away from shore where other forms of rescue swimming are dangerous for the rescuer even with a compliant victim.

    XDXDXDXDXDXD when saving a victim, make sure you keep your arm as tight as you can across the victims neck XD. Also careful with that forklift approach, the unconscious victim isn't going to be so kind to your nose when their head flops back.
    Also that is not a submerged victim. He was at the surface. Let's see surface dives bro. Finally, take a guard class. From any organization. It will hammer out the many cracks in your techniques.

  • @lordsneed9418
    @lordsneed9418 Рік тому

    So you should just not approach a conscious victim if you don't have a buoyant tube? Wow this is so helpful for the 90% of the time you see someone in trouble in the water and you don't happen to be carrying something buoyant. Why don't you show us how to save someone frantic and conscious when you don't have something buoyant with you ???? not helpful video
