Shanahan did Trey the same way his dad did RG3, in a way. RG3 was ready to play, but they never put their energy into him being successful. Drafting Kirk was a clear message that a contingency plan was needed. The offense continued to expose RG3 to certain dangers, with an unwillingness to modify. Couple that with RG3 knowing they didn't want him to be the guy and his ultra competitive nature, when he got hurt, he knew if he came off the field, he wasn't getting back on it. Boy, was he right. Now...go look at Trey Lance and tell me it isn't eerily similar!😂
