And the following year 2013 was one of the worst ever. EJ Manuel, Geno Smith, and Mike Glennon were main starters for their teams for like one or two seasons before flaming out And you had mediocre backups like Matt Barkley and Landry Jones.
Because the owner wanted them to pick RG3, and i honestly think that him and Kyle weren’t s invested in his future as they should have been. I mean they drafted another Qb the same year they drafted him.

He's more of a QB guru, like Bruce Arians, where he can get the most out of a QB and win with good QB only, but with a terrible QB, can't get results. If Trey is elite, then I'll give more credit to Shanahan. But I have to see it to believe it.

What's sad is the utter disregard for a young man and his future.. I'm a huge Mike Shanahan fan, he could and would put anyone in the backfield and turn them into 1,000 yard rushers.. but he did RGIII so wrong by rushing him back and allowing him to play. Mike didnt want him and that was obvious in the 2012 draft when he took Kirk Cousins just a few rounds later.
He shouldn't have been playing in the playoffs get v Seattle. If I remember correctly, they let him play hurt and I don't remember him ever being % after that
We had a squad. Morris was a beast in the zone blocking run game. We have Orakpo and Kerrigan. Fletcher and a prime DHall. We also had an allstar cast of incredible coaches.
Now in 2024 Washington finally has it's Franchise QB in Jayden Daniels..... I had to revisit this game of RG3 breakout game and contrast it with Daniels vs Bengals both games was great for Skins fans

Even bad QBs that year had their time to shine. Brock Osweiler would go 5-2 in 2015 in place of Peyton Manning, which included a victory over the New England Patriots, keeping the Broncos afloat which would eventually culminate in them winning the Super Bowl. The season could've easily been lost if the Broncos had someone like Brodie Croyle at QB instead of a half-decent Brock Osweiler. Lol Don't forget too the undrafted free agency class that year included Case Keenum, who's not bad at all for a player that wasn't drafted.

It's like a screen option intended to go to the right side and then goes back to his blind side if the read isn't there. That's actually pretty impressive game planning designed for a rookie quarterback.
That season was so fun and frustrating at the same time. After like 3/4 through the season you could start to see his decline, and it was steady until his leg finally gave out in the playoffs v Seahawks... it was taring because even at half strength/ being hurt RG3 was still our best chance of winning and I think it was so hard to take the foot off of the gas pedal because we was so good and we were competitive for the first time in a decade, BUT they definitely should have taken him out toward the end of the season and lived to fight again the next year, unfortunately they didn’t and Griffin would never be the same again 😖

Watching this in 2023, it’s stark how physical and fast the game used to be compared to now. I’m all for player health and commitment to lessening the long term health effects of football but this is an entirely different game than what’s played today

We never know and some people say he is the Derek rose of nfl history but even though I like him I think he is like the wild cat and was a guy who once defensive coordinators adjusted ontop of dealing with injuries and telling Shanahan he wanted to be like peyton manning I think made everything more challenging than it already was which would make most fail but I respect the way he carries himself and doesn't make excuses
Watching this in 2023, it’s stark how physical and fast the game used to be compared to now. I’m all for player health and commitment to lessening the long term health effects of football but this is an entirely different game than what’s played today
I was at this game. Every Saints fan, myself included thought that we were going to go on a Bountygate Revenge tour starting with decimating the Redskins with their rookie QB. Especially after the blocked punt it looked like we were heading for it.....but RGIII absolutely torched us. It was probably the best game I saw anyone on the opposing team play in person. Props.
