I don't know why but my chief concern is that Wolf-man Jimmy was NOT covered in RED fur.
So Jimmy Olsen, a red head, turned into a werewolf. So you might say the… ginger snaps lol
I want to see the aftermath of the female supporting cast freaking out that they weren't pretty by Merlin's standards (typical for their silver-age representation) and Lois going full 'Superman's girlfriend' and deciding to marry Merlin so he admits she's pretty.
Fun fact "ye" in "ye olde" is actually "the". There was a character in Olde English called the "thorn" that made the th sound. German printing presses didn't have it so people substituted the similar looking Y and figured you'd get it from context clues.
What's better is when you come across people who don't know this so call things "The Ye Olde"
I remember reading that the thorn was used for the hard "th" as in "the" or "father", with the soft "th" as in "thumb" was written yen as now.
Just for fun, this is the (upper- & lowercase) thorn symbol: Þ þ
Sure, it looks more like P than Y, but as stated, it was used by typesetters. As Y is less common than P, especially to start a word, using the capital Y for thorn gave it more utility for said typesetters.

Except there was a long line of people ready to drink the mysterious red mummy juice which oozed out of an Egyptian sarcophagus in 2018, convinced it would make them immortal, turn them into a zombie, or at least give them TikTok social cred.

My headcanon was that the reason Jack Kirby's "DNA Project" (now known in 21st Century DC COmics as the Cadmus Project) created all those Jimmy Olsen clones was that his cells were a spectacular mess after all of those transformations he went through in the 1960s.
That has got to be one of the silliest headcanons ever devised.

Gotta love the "Comics code", and just how many different ways they came up with to get around it.
It does make one wonder, if the 'approvers'(aka censors) were just that stupid, or they really just thought the code was that stupid, to allow so many things to just slide by.
I vote for the former.
One of it's biggest supporters historically was Archie Comics, and basically their entire shtick was finding was to get racy drawings and double entendres
They needed the Comics Code for cover. Getting around it was part of the fun. After all, 12 year old boys were their biggest market.
Moral guardianship historically has been one big parade of getting stuff past the radar, and a lot of censoring one thing while seemingly overlooking another thing that might be considered objectively more risque, it's not just the comics code but western media in general. And indeed quite often the ones forced to partake in the censorship often poke indirect fun at it, just look at the old dub of Neptune and Uranus from Sailormoon where it was SUPER obvious the VAs knew how stupid the censorship was and took the piss out of it the entire time.
@@jwrush IIRC, by the time the Comics Code was shut down (due to everyone having abandoned it) in 2011, they'd just been automatically approving all Archie Comics because was assumed they'd never actually cross the line.
I love how this all hinges on “Jimmy can only be transformed back if he’s kissed but all of the girls are afraid and disgusted by his werewolf face” like I love werewolves hell yeah would I kiss one on their little werewolf face. The real issue for me personally is that it’s Jimmy Olson specifically.

In the Super Friends Jimmy also went to a masquerade party in his werewolf form. He helped save the day against Felix Faust.
This makes me think that the DC Nation's Farm League version of Jimmy Olsen might be an anthropomorphic wolf named Jimmy Wolfsen.

Was Rick Jone's time as A-Bomb with his "Shell" a reference to Jimmy as the Turtle man? Rick basically ended up in a similar position to Jimmy. Though his "Strongest hero" and "Red White and Blue Boyscout" were two separate characters instead of one guy.

This brought me so much joy, right down to the "Ye antidote" on the bottle. Love me some transforming Jimmy (and your voice for him - I'll never be able to read a Superman comic without hearing that voice!). More Jimmy transformations (also, maybe more reviews of Jimmy plots from Adventures of Superman?). How many times does Perry threaten to fire Jimmy? I must know!

Does anyone find it... odd, that Merlin would have used a Y to replace the traditional English Thorne symbol in 'the', suggesting that these labels were either
A) mass produced with types imported from Germany, or
B) hand-written by MERLIN who was enough of a zoomer to not appreciate the traditional English typography, and mistakenly wrote Thorne as Y assuming it always was that way?
Bonus content: apparently English has ye/you only because this mistyping taught a generation to say ye/you instead of thee/thou. 'The' used here happily survived the transition. Except in some parts of Disneyland. It is argued though that 'ye' evolved independently as well. You tell me, do young people speak like text messages because of text messages, or the other way around?
Also thee/thou respond to who/whom, so they have slightly different uses.

Oh Otto Binder, y'know, I wonder just how different the Superman mythos would be different if Binder never stopped writing for Captain Marvel. Some of the stuff Binder came up with seems like equal parts wanting to write CM stories again, and so slowly turning the Superman books into CM books with the serial numbers filed off, and pure spite at what DC did to Fawcett. Either way, I'm glad Binder gave us this...this

Not only could he make 2k a night, but he totally could’ve gotten an actress in the film to kiss him. Jimmy is just missing opportunities left and right.
Usually when codes forbid something and it's depicted as clever rascals abusing all the loopholes they can find, the reality is more like "okay, ACTUALLY you can use vampires and werewolves all you want, you just can't make it one of THOSE types of comics, explicitly designed to disturb and horrify [children]." It's the difference between descriptive and prescriptive definition.
Funny thing though how we use descriptive dictionaries as "proof" of what words mean, like once enough people mean "literally" figuratively, that becomes the real meaning, but in these cases we do the opposite.
So what you're trying to say is Jimmy Olsen is like Pokemon...Gotta Catch Him All? 😂

I bought that issue new when I was 12 years old. I had a huge crush on Supergirl.
Superman and Jimmy should have known better since they are both aware by now of the existence of magic. My favorite J. O. story was # 111 when Olsen takes on the pro wrestlers as Elastic Lad.
In retrospect, it just floors me that stories where ugly guys yearn for someone to see the "beauty within," whilst looking for the most outwardly attractive women to do so, are often not interested in their character. Is there a term for that?
Wolfman Jimmy is great and all but, I prefer Turtle Man/Action Man (best superhero name ever). Especially in Final Crisis when he beats the crap out of Darkseid with a bridge. One of the few good things to come out of that series in my opinion. That and his relationship with Forager, even if she transformed (not literally) into a valley girl at the end of the series.

That last story could definitely be seen a passive aggressive shot at DC by Siegel after all the censorship of Superman by Whitney Ellsworth, and the Comics code, along with a little sellers remorse too.
