Very helpful. Two questions 1) do acetylcholinesterase inhibitors help LEMS if ach is not passing the neuromuscular junction 2) isn’t there also non-tumor LEMS?
brilliant as alwaaays my fave doctor !! now i have a question, since u said in myasthenia gravis only skeletal muscles are affected, why do we have phonation, swollowing and mastication troubles ??
So I'm currently going through diagnosis for MG, but I was also recently diagnosed with POTS (at the same time the other symptoms started, weakness, shortness of breath) . They told me I was negative for MG antibodies, are antibodies for LEMS different? Thank you.
Hey Lauren, I also have pots and the antibodies indicating LEMS. Have you found any success in the pots getting better if you’ve been treated yet? How have you been treated?
Again, you saved me again
Thank you for the great explanation and YES my professor didn’t tell me that lol
Thank you 😊

There are many skeletal muscles that control phonation, swallowing, and mastication.

Yes! The antibodies of MG are not the same as the ones for LEMS.
Best of luck!
