I recently went to the redwood forest and the lighting was extremely challenging. I also found that in order to properly capture the scale of the trees I needed a reference so I had to stand in many of the compositions but then I was faced with the fact that I didn’t find viewing myself as pleasing (no offense to my mother)
Fantastic video Adam and beautiful photos especially the one at 11:55 really like the way one of the trees is broken it tells a bit of a story thank you for sharing your video
Beautiful images Adam! I found the rain forest in Olympic NP a challenge to photograph. I didn’t come away with much of anything that I liked. I will have to try getting down low the next time I am there. Thanks for sharing!
Lovely to watch this. I'm going to the Hoh tomorrow with my wife and I couldn't be more excited. Hoping to make a little video myself about trying to take photos there during fall.
Love the Hoh RF and hope to visit again soon. A beautiful place that can easily overload your senses and your approach by shooting wide pano's is an excellent way to shoot there. Well done Adam. Thanks for sharing and bringing back great memories of a wonderful place.
Great video Adam and love the images. There is one thing that I find really amusing, at 11 minutes the second tree from the right looks as though it's a sloth reaching down to the ground.
Great video Adam, those rainforest are beautiful subjects. Great shots, thanks for taking us along . I like the pano's out of the single shot that's when the GFX shines. We see that you really are roughing it.
Beautiful as always. I’ve never been to Washington. Well, except to change planes at SeaTac. Looks like a place I have to see one day. Thanks for the video!
Man, havent been there in 14 years. Would love to visit again. I got to say you really made the most of it despite the trails. I wasnt inspired by the worn down foregrounds so didnt shoot much. But you again show theres images everywhere.
If you are still there I would hike a portion of the HOH river trail. Far less people and you can get more original images than in the Hall of Moses that is amazing but been photographed by many.
I was amazed at the dimensions of the forest. Without people, I could not even estimate how big the trees are. But with a person like in 10:45 it becomes clear how big and majestic these old trees are. Very beautiful pictures! By the way, your video is marked as "not listed". So non-subscribers won't be able to see it....
Great images as usual Adam. Any plans for a Quiet Light Volume 2 book? I have purchased both your Quiet Light an Antarctica books and have room on the shelf for any others you may publish.
nice forest, I guess having a big megapixel image sensor allows those big 16.9 crops to still have lots of resolution. My Question is in the past with a smaller full frame sensor, would u have done more panos, to get the wide feel or just tighter crops with your composition. On this note how much has the fuji medium format changed your shooting style Adam. Has it made your composition ideas easier less work with being able to crop a lot and lose the data as opposed to a smaller full frame sensor..
My shooting has changed a great deal with the GFX. I crop more frequently, usually in camera. The 65x24 pano is fantastic. I use most of the crop features in camera on a regular basis. Yes, less work. The files from the GFX are also lovely to work with in post.
There are so many gorgeous hikes on the peninsula; I love the Hoh Rainforest. When there aren't many people, it feels like you could be walking back in time. I haven't made the trip over there in a few years. Thanks for the reminder of places to revisit in my own state! Your RAW files are gorgeous, but I see how they are softer after you edited them, which definitely aligns with your brand. Hope you made it back home with no mechanical difficulties. Just one question, was that a local beer?
Haha well there is a story to that. The beer wasn’t actually beer, it was some sort of alcoholic fruity beverage that I picked up thinking it was beer. I had forgotten my glasses. It wasn’t very pleasant
@@QuietLightPhoto OH NO! Mechanical failure AND fake beer? Ouch! The beer thing happens a lot more than you think around here. There are so many local microbrews that it can be like trying those awful Harry Potter Every Flavour Jelly Beans!
Beautiful place, great images! As a US southerner currently indoors avoiding 36C+ outside temperatures, it's always interesting to see anyone in the northern hemisphere outdoors during summer, wearing a coat. 😀 Question - Are the raw images you show the actual raws or the raw (jpg) preview? They seem much more colorful than my raw images by default. Maybe it's just Fuji vs. Canon? Enjoyed the video.
You had the same problems I have in that forest. The only difference is I don't have the eye to solve the problems so I switched to wildlife photography. 😅
Having just shot there a couple of weeks ago, I'm wondering how you managed to get all those great compositions without several dozen tourists, all taking cellphone selfies, filling up every square inch between the trees? 😂
@@LarryManiccia I'd planned a trip to ONP in the past. But, I put together a few more bucks and went to Alaska instead. This year I'm off to Vancouver and Vancouver Island. Maybe the Olympic peninsula next year.

All the electronic gear on the picnic table. I remember camping with only a Colman and a hibachi (and beer). How times have changed. 🙂
So true!
LOL, I remember camping in the desert with a motorbike, a piece of steak, and a fire. And that’s it! I think it would kill me, now.
Campfire and old aluminum pot for coffee and everything. Easy.

Nice! you should have the place to yourselves.
@@QuietLightPhoto Yeah I figured a weekday would be better. :)
I love how you show the raw file
Then the edit into it amazing job as always Adam
Glad you enjoy it!
I really like the trees on the right 1/3 of the screen. Great light.
Love all those mossy trees! Stunning place to enjoy.
Stunning photos and what a great national park! love it!
It really is!
Really loved the last image.

Thank you Adam. 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
I need to get my act together and head for a rain forest in the North West, very beautiful images. Thank you!

Nice, I really like that pano at 10:30. Well balanced 👍
Great stuff Adam! The Hoh rainforest is very beautiful. I had the opportunity to visit last fall and look forward to returning there someday.
Enjoyed the video...have fun!
Awesome as always. Looks like another challenging location to photograph.
Lovely video, Adam. The grandeur of that forest is palpable.
I really enjoyed the images in this weeks video, what a stunning location.
Many thanks!
beautiful Adam
Really like those Images! ❤ Wish I had Rainforest Tree, here where I live, but that's maybe asking for a lot of rain too😅
I like the inclusion of the pathway as it adds a wonderment of “what is there beyond?”
Always incredible work! Thank you for another great video 😊
Thank you too!
Great video fellas. What an enviable lifestyle you have. I should imagine that after a few days, yours socks help to keep the bears away as well. haha
Well Paul’s do for sure😂

Beautiful over there, but difficult to photograph.
Thanks for the 10% off the Shimoda X40 V2, much appreciated. Great video :)

(1:09) GF 45-100mm at 103mm?
Typo
Great video, can I ask if you moved on from the sunwayfoto geared head for the Gfx 100s and what geared head did you settle on , thanks 😀
Yes I did. Im now using the Arca Swiss Cube.
Didn't like many of the compositions in this video - but hey - thi sis a comment - good for the channel! I enjoy and learn from your vlogs!

very difficult to photograph there, the light is strong and no path at all...I must bring my kase set if I go there.
How is the fujifilm compared to your D850?
I prefer the Fuji to be honest

You have three tents and need another 3 ? What ?
Six clients, six tents
