No, I don't think you're too grumpy! I like the seriousness and experience you bring to each photograph. It's obvious how much experience and expertise you have. What takes you an instant to conclude if there is or isn't a shot to take is a gift only years of practice bring. Thank you for all you do!
I love how you show in the field work, then your raw photo and finalized! Really helps us see what your vision was and how you finalized it!! Thank you.
Great images again Adam, love your work......Your not Grumpy at all. I am 78 in a few weeks & my Grand children & Great Grand children know me as 'Grumps' because I am old & not so daft as my younger members of the family. Although I used to be 30 yrs ago.........
There are already enough over friendly and silly people in the www. Stay as you are and congratulations on your placing in the Natural Landscape Photography Awards! Beautiful shots…
Excellent video Adam, The first shots were great, but the waterfalls, incredible. But the whole video was great. Grumpy is caused by running all over the place in all sorts of conditions and not finding the shot!!! Thanks again Adam. Great work.
Goldenears! I love it. This could be a seminal moment. Almost like a James Bond spoof even. Seriously, though, some nice images and interesting composition thoughts - thanks for sharing and all your hard work over time. Time immemorial. Time as old as the gnarled trees. The gnarled trees of Goldenears.....
I'm not sure if you're in on the joke or not, but Golden Ears is a popular provincial park located close to where Adam used to live. He's almost certainly shot there before so his mixup is very understandable. For even more confusion, Golden Ears has a "Gold Creek" in it.
I'm only at 7:20, but I have to say that it is images like the ones you have just shown that make me glad I am subscribed to your channel. Thank you, Adam.
Cheers Adam, it’s Sean in Atlanta! I may not have ever mentioned this to you before, but in the six or seven years that I have followed you, you are probably the grumpiest photographer I have ever seen! Hahaha, just kidding! I wanted to be the first person to bust your chops! You are probably the most even-keeled UA-camr in my catalog of hundreds of other grumpy photographers that I have followed! Thanks for another jaw dropping video! Sean PS Did I say what you wanted me to say?
I think you are a fantastic photographer and like you just the way you are. Dont change a thing about you! Although I do miss your antics and dry humor with Gavin :)
WOW! Great images today Adam! I appreciate your detailed descriptions of what you’ve done to capture a shot! I always learn something from your videos! Thanks for taking me along!
The should I stay or should I explore question is the worst part of great conditions. Turns something that should be enjoyable into a big stressor. Maybe I should become a psychic.
Great images. Thanks for sharing your thinking process. I use a similar set up and I have run into some vignette with the Kase filters and the 20-35 at 20. Could you please share the specific set you are using? Best
Enjoyed seeing local Vancouver Island spots as always. Hey, have you made a UA-cam already showing how to blend layers with Photoshop? Ie. paint in the correctly exposed waterfall.
Man, if I had such lousy conditions (e.g. dappled light, sun beams, mist … you don’t want to have these when you set out on a photo shoot) 😱 and come home with such mediocre images 😱😱, “Grumpy” would be my first name. 😱😱😱 … 😉😉😉 … however, if it takes “being grumpy” to get away with such beautiful images, I will definitely work on my grumpiness. Great work, Adam. Cheers to Vancouver Island
For scouting, do you regularly use your drone? I am after one for just that. You save miles of walking, when you are out chasing conditions, and especially places you haven't been before. It's great to have eyes that can cover ground and find potential spots from the air.
Adam I have no idea if you ever seen this or not but on your video with the second waterfall the little small one where are you talking about the log at time index 16:00 min You actually captured a trout coming down the waterfall and then jumping up just at 16:30 to 16:38
Most of us that follow you Adam, I think already know who or whom bestowed the name ' Grumpy ' upon yourself, Nick & Company come to mind here, lol! I for one personally don't find you grumpy, at least most of the time, ha, ha, ha! All the best, Bill...
Beautiful shots. I find waterfalls tricky. They should be easy to shoot but it’s often hard to fit them in the best overall scene - they often overpower the scene.
No way you are grumpy Adam, because you are a person with lots of humor in you, Btw. I really loved all shots in that beautiful area, with those sunbeams. My 2 favourites will the one at 6:35 and 7:07 👍❤
Thank you for your channel. Long time subscriber! Is someone holding your camera when you are directly speaking to the camera? Eg. at 17:50? I am getting a bit dizzy with all that movement :)
Just a question about how you shoot - when you show an image as your raw - how often is that exactly as metered, or do you bracket and pick one ? the composites where you mask in for details etc, not what I'm talking about. Likewise when you morph into the edited version, it's obvious you're adjusting things. My issue - I shoot Nikon and use the highlight priority quite a bit to preserve highlights which leaves me generally underexposed. Do you find any particular metering mode on the GFX to really nail overall exposure, even in those wooded lands shots ? Did you have a preference when you shot Nikon for metering ?
I just use average types of metering, matrix on the Nikon. I don't often bracket. Expose for the highlights and it will be underexposed in most cases. Just lift the shadows. I'll take one image, check it on the back of the camera and if it needs adjusting ill do so.
I have to apologize Adam. My wife heard you were in Goldstream. She thought it was Coldstream near us in the interior. Without checking into it, I messaged you saying you could kick lay pop over and see the falls near Kelowna airport. Sorry for the confusion. Cheers.
Not to mention I'm also grumpy because I can't seem to do the video editing software is not strong point in any way shape or form I am technically a hardwar person Ever since I had to reprogram bios in hexadecimal I pretty much fried my brain 🧠 the math that require that was way way past the norm but I did it and got it working and added a few extra features such as rewriting the drive to 0 and reassigning the MBR plus reformatting the drive in the bios
Grumpy no…..but I did see you at Thrifty foods the other day and you did look a little off so decided not to bug you haha. Great shots Adam, best time of year out here.
Did you use the Osmo Pocket 3 to record this video too? I am looking into getting a vlogging camera but am feeling very overwhelmed with all the info and options. Do you like and is it easy to use? Thank you for any feedback.
You? GRUMPY? Say it aint so.😂 We have many waterfalls here in Michigan, and as I shoot them I'm being a bit more particularly "grumpy" about composition. One lesson I learned several years ago, my first time doing a long exposure, was to look for those bubbles or foam on the water. Now I try to use that element to my advantage where I can. Love these shots! Especially the misty ones in the trees always love those. As I'm redoing my web site, I'm looking for ways to incorporate videos. Love the music you're using. Just curious where you get it? Btw....do you and Bri always make faces at each other? His are much better!😂
catching up on videos - i noticed you are maybe using the new dji pocket 3 or one of the pockets and i believe the tracking is doing more harm than good since you are not really moving but the camera tracking is moving based on your head. I think the video would look better if its just still (at least for the last shot) I do can imagine some shots following you along as you explain the scene and there's some good possibilities to try there. wishing you the best
If your new osmo has an option to turn off tracking then it might be worth considering when you’re talking to camera. It’s jiggling all over the place. Great vid though.
I don't think you're grumpy... At our age, we deserve to be that if we want to! By the way, what tripod or stand do you use for your Osmo Pocket 3 standing/talking shots?
No Adam you're not the grumpy one at the moment I am Why because I really wish I lived in places like you Yes you have to get around with car Me on the other hand I have to get around with a mountain bike And on top of that you at least have family & friends to get out with Not one family member ever wanted to do any type of hiking or photography or camping or anything unless it with my grandfather and he died over 41 years ago
For everyone on the fence about a hat: I have two and I really like them and they are really a labor of love, you can tell!
You are never grumpy when I’m over on the island, must be my colourful character. 🤣🤘
You got that right!
Adam, you are the only one photographer in the world whose every video I watch on UA-cam
Thanks!!
No, I don't think you're too grumpy! I like the seriousness and experience you bring to each photograph. It's obvious how much experience and expertise you have. What takes you an instant to conclude if there is or isn't a shot to take is a gift only years of practice bring. Thank you for all you do!
If we make it to old, we deserve to be grumpy.
That last image looks like it’s from a fairytale world. So magical and inviting. Very well done.
Gorgeous shots. As for you ....earthy and real.... glimpses of anticipation in your face as the light moves....then deflation. A nice ebb and flow.
The grumpiest! 😂😂😂 Enjoy your channel greatly. Love the raw and finished presentation format.
Thanks for watching
That opening was video, not photography... just wow! @17:00 stunning !!
I love how you show in the field work, then your raw photo and finalized! Really helps us see what your vision was and how you finalized it!! Thank you.
Again inspirational...I'm out the door with my camera...thanks to you

Great video as always. Thank you. 👍😄
There are already enough over friendly and silly people in the www. Stay as you are and congratulations on your placing in the Natural Landscape Photography Awards! Beautiful shots…
I just checked the results on their website. Incredible images from so many people. Great achievement to take 3rd place.
@@Xo1ot1 Yes, in today's society "3rd place" always sounds a bit low.
But even 20th place would be a major prize!
Thank you! Will do!
If they didn't kick me out I'd be thrilled. @@SD_Alias
A more personal vlogg this time. I like that. It's nice to follow you as you look for compositions. Makes it more of an adventure! 😀
Excellent video Adam, The first shots were great, but the waterfalls, incredible. But the whole video was great. Grumpy is caused by running all over the place in all sorts of conditions and not finding the shot!!! Thanks again Adam. Great work.
Thank you for the video. I love the woods but photographing them is hard so you bring a lot of inspiration, insight & knowledge. Thank you.
Wow! Really beautiful pictures. I really love the look. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much!
Congrats on NLPA! Always catch your videos, despite the grumpy. In all honesty sometimes faux grump can be entertaining.

Ah! No I didn't know about Goldenears Park. Thanks, but only a bit of banter and a great admirer of himself!
I'm only at 7:20, but I have to say that it is images like the ones you have just shown that make me glad I am subscribed to your channel. Thank you, Adam.
Welcome aboard!
Awesome shots. I especially love the swirling water and long exposure of the waterfall. Just fantastic 🤩👍
Thanks a lot!
Nice shots with the waterfalls and the swirls. Great tip in blending with a zoom!
That last comp was just great Adam! Everything fit together perfectly, and the greens are just wonderful.
Only if Gavin says so. You should go to Nova Scotia and ask him! A little reunion perhaps?
Beautiful shots!
Adam, congratulations on your NLPA award winning images. Beautiful!!
Thank you very much!
I don’t think you can get the same results without having a bit of grumpiness:-) it’s what drives us on… really liked the shot at 7:07 Pal..

Grumpy? No... You're a bright ray of freekin sunshine! 😅. (preferably with fog! 😉)
Photos are fantastic. 🎉
Great images. Thanks for sharing your thinking process. I use a similar set up and I have run into some vignette with the Kase filters and the 20-35 at 20. Could you please share the specific set you are using? Best
Revolutin filters. I havent noticed any vignetting but then again I rarely use cpls with the 20mm range

Why do birds stop singing when you enter the forest? You could teach a course in grumpology. Love your videos Adam.
