In some ways Michael's story is similar to Paul Newman's. They were at the top of their game in the acting world and then found something else to be passionate about. In both their cases it turned out to be driving at a professional level.
People always seem to be surprised when guys like this do well in racing. The very fact he’s getting this sort of support from Porsche shows they see his talent and now he’s showing the dedication as well. Actors like McQueen, Newman, Garner and Dempsey Could’ve all given up acting and been top drivers and now Michael is showing he’s got that skill and drive as well. As a racing fan I really hope he makes it to the dream of racing at Le Mans.

agreed. I have had the pleasure of being a stills photographer at the SCCA level, and even there, those guys have mad skills. Sticking your nose out the E-holes to get the shots, you get a very different appreciation for what is going on on the track than you ever can from the stands. We did Kart racing for one fellow's stag before he got married, and as much as I am competent in both cars and motorbikes (skills instructor on the latter), the guys were on a completely different level than I was. That Michael has been able to step into these cars and be competitive (his consistency is a huge help in this!), shows his level of dedication to the craft, as well as his natural talent... Talent can only take you so far, the nuances need to be trained in and honed!
Porsche you're on to a winning formula with this type of show however a little longer per episode would be great!

What I’ve always loved about Michael as an actor is the emotion and intensity of his performances, and it’s amazing to see how passionate he is about racing as well. So happy for him!
You can really see his emotions during the apartment window scene in the movie shame 😂

i think his soul is into racing more than acting......he is not involved in many acting stuff the last 2 years.
He would have been spectacular... 10 or 15 years ago. he's too old now.

These episodes are wonderful! You can really see Fassbender's passion, competitive spirit, and inner drive in these. I just wish they were longer, a couple hour long episodes would be perfect.
I could easily watch one hour long episodes of this. I had no idea Michael was into motorsport. Also, he's looking damn good for a forty something.

i love that he's so hard on himself for his mistakes. nothing more honorable than a man who feels it's his own duty to hold himself to account. a lot of people these days' first instinct is to deflect blame when they're at fault for something, but not the great Fenderbender XD. that's how you become a better man.
I agree with what you are saying oldfrend@ because we are living in a time where blaming everyone else and society is a cool thing to do but to me it is the exact opposite because having this type of mindset is not only annoying it allows people to baby the few individuals that refuse to learn from the mistakes they have made and to take responsibility for their actions.
Love the extra widescreen format, really give it a grand cinematic feeling
This whole series is AMAZING. Love to see someone (albeit, well funded...and famous) average try and become a pro driver. Fassbender just earned more points with me. Following in the footsteps of Patrick Dempsey.

This series is AWESOME! :D It is amazing to see the level of craft involved in driving to race. Setting up the car, getting used to tracks, getting stuck in on the track with other drivers at race pace. Impressive. Great actor, great team, great video production, great videos. Keep it up.
I have been off and on racing my whole life. Never professionally, and its a very expensive sport. I wish I had this chance and Michael did. But with that said, I have huge respect for Michael for what he is doing. It is really impressive, it takes a lot of mental and physical discipline to do well in this sport. Talent helps, but talent alone will not get you there. Good Job Mike.

This series is better than the movies...
That was a beautiful beautiful thing. Huge improvement, confidence rising, super pissed at himself with the pitlane speed error, and then able to push it down and feel good for the next race. I feel we are seeing a real racer coming together here.
Love to see Michael doing better than he himself thought he was capable of.

I just want to throw out major props to Michael!!! This man is hungry to learn and yet still very humble!
It is so compelling and intriguing to see him deal with the emotions that affect your driving capacities when you get into the podium slots whilst still engaged out on the track! You grab that 3rd position and begin to defend it with your life while still trying to establish an attack strategy for 2nd position and it just causes your brain to do all sorts of odd, emotional idiosyncrasies! It's like your first time being shot at, it just does all sorts of primal things to you.
I also just knew that Michael would be a perfect fit for the RSR!
Can't wait for November 8th!

So impressed with how he’s doing. A cup car is insane, an RSR is god tier. Can’t believe he’s out there crushing it. Who cares about the penalty, that part is easy to clean up, the on track stuff is amazing.

In all seriousness, major credit to Michael and Porsche. Good to see this sort of stuff, and I think it's good for the sport. Just hope we'll get a decent, classy racing movie of it in the next few years. I feel like the 1972 documentary The Speed Merchants should be drawn from to make a new fictional film. Who else has seen that film? It's beautiful.

These are really really good. I was expecting the usual dubbed V8 sounds and sped up footage crap. This was produced/edited by people who get it. Very raw, can see the speeds/forces. Well done Porsche well done.
the worst is netflix F1 doc for that crap. Like hearing the car accelerating up through the gears when the car is clearly braking for a corner
