"As Good As It Gets" (1997) is a romantic comedy drama in which a man with many psychological issues improves himself after interacting with some new people. Nicholson won the Oscar for Best Actor, Helen Hunt won the Oscar for Best Actress, Greg Kinnear was Oscar nominated for Best Supporting Actor, the movie was Oscar nominated for Best Picture, and Cuba Gooding, Jr. even plays a small support role. One more to see someday.

Jack Nicholson as Melvin and Helen Hunt (from Twister) as Carol and yes, Greg Kinnear as Simon made that movie so much fun to watch! That is A MUST SEE for Jay and Amber to watch soon we hope, I believe they would love it too!

Because of the 6 Degrees of Separation game, I would've thought Kevin Bacon's been in the most movies, but he's only been in about 70 so far. The record holder is Eric Roberts (Julia Roberts' brother) at 455 movies. The one movie of his I've watched the most is Final Analysis. Of course, Eric's not usually the leading man in most of the movies he's been in the way Jack and Morgan are, which is how he's been able to do so many in his career.
Yeah, they've got quite the list of movies to get through! Lol :)

Carter describing his adult life (to Edward) was basically a living embodiment of Harry Chapin's "Cats in the Cradle" (great song from the '70s). I was in the hospital recently for surgery (not for cancer) and as I was being put under, I joked with one of the nurses saying, "if you have to move someone into my room, please try and make sure his name is Edward Cole." She initially didn't understand the reference. After I woke up in my room, another nurse told me the surgical nurse finally got my meaning but had never actually seen this movie, and was going to try and watch it on her next day off.
Jordan, don't feel too bad about being brought to tears. I don't care how much of a "man" you are, this movie is one of those that will do it every time. I have this movie on disc and have watched it MANY times. And, even watching your UA-cam reaction, it brings more than A tear to my eye. And you're right; this movie is an important one to see irregardless of the stage in life you're in.

"The Lion Sleeps Tonight" isn't a *The
Lion King* song. Timon just sings it to
tell us why Simba isn't with them? And
cuz it's funny! The song started in the
'30s and became a pop hit in the '60s.
The Lion King is 1994. 26:00

Morgan Freeman also great in "Seven", "Amistad", "Along came a spider" etc etc
Morgan & Nickelson is such a great duo, other great pairings are Schwarzenegger & Devito in "Twins" , Nolte & Murphy in "48 hours", Aykroyd & Goodman in "Blues brothers 2000" an Gibson & Glover in "Lethal weapon" (even more good duo's "Dumb and dumber", "Bill & ted", "Dude where's my car?", "Mr&mrs Smith", "Scent of a woman", "Bad boys")

Touching reaction guys, you see why Jack has been nominated for an Oscar 12 times and won 3 ? For a couple more films of Jack , I would check out As good as it gets and One flew over the cuckoo's nest. Jack won Oscars for both those movies. In As Good as it Gets, Jack plays a man with OCD and is even more blunt than in this film. And for Morgan I would suggest Driving Miss Daisy, the actress who played Miss Daisy, Jessica Tandy who was 80 at that time, won the Oscar for her role. Morgans character in Driving Miss Daisy developed a deeply touching friendship with Miss Daisy by the end of the film. Jack hasnt acted since about 2010, but if you watch the LA Lakers, you can usually spot him center court as he has been their number one fan for over 50 years.

The significance of this film is exceptional. Currently, I am battling cancer at 53, spending my time going in and out of the oncology ward, and I must say, it is not a pleasant experience. Sadly, I have no family members who can come and visit me, and it seems like my so-called friends have abandoned me as well, the moment they found out about my condition. However, I am fortunate to have my caring wife by my side. The presence of cancer in one's life somehow brings forth gratitude, as it helps us realize the true importance of things. Money, career, and material possessions hold no value in comparison. Instead, we should cherish our loved ones, embrace the wonders of the outdoors, and fill our days with laughter and fun. Wasting our precious time on stress and arguments serves no purpose in the grand scheme of life.

Amber, you asked what a grave with a bell was. I remember hearing in old times they would tie a string to a dead person's finger and string it to a bell hanging at the grave. If the person wasn't truly dead and woke up, they could ring the bell and the grave watcher would dig them up. It's where the saying "Saved by the Bell" comes from.

Another great Jack Nicholson movie is As Good As It Gets from 1997. It's not quite a rom-com with Nicholson playing the cranky, bigoted, and obsessive-compulsive neighbor. He won a Best Actor Oscar for his role. Helen Hunt won a Oscar for her role as the mother of a chronically ill son and Greg Kinnear won an Oscar as his gay neighbor. It was also nominated for Best Picture (Good Will Hunting was nominated that same year but The Titanic won the award) It is so good! One of my favorite movies of the 90s.

Jack Nicklaus is "the Golden Bear", possibly one of the greatest golfers ever; I think you saw Nicholson in A Few Good Men, with Tom Cruise.
Michelle Pfeiffer you should watch in Grease 2, The Fabulous Baker Boys, Dangerous Minds (she plays a teacher) or the Witches of Eastwick (for Halloween!)

I was lucky enough to have my parents until I was in my late fifties. When my father passed my sister and I used the remainder of his estate after probate to buy the best tickets available on the finish line at the world Track and field championships in Eugene Or. My dad was a school teacher and a three sport coach. The seats paid off I got to cross one off my own bucket list when I saw Sydney McLaughlin set a new world record in the womens 400 meter hurdles. My dad would have been thrilled . I cried. The Shining is the second best movie Nicholson filmed in Oregon. The best is One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

💖 I started my bucket list on my 40th Birthday with my mom. She threw a big party for my twin sister and me. Every one else had gone to bed. We had a drink together, reminisced, laughed till we cried, and made my list. 😍This last week my husband and I checked quite a few off including spending an entire week together, just the two of us. No friends or kid. We say all the time that you never know what tomorrow holds, so do it now. We both know that if something happens to us, we lived full lives!🎉 P.S. we checked off back to back concerts (not including festivals). Saw Ever clear on a Third and Grand Funk Railroad on Friday. Made it home on Saturday to end the evening with friends on the last day of our town's annual festival. Got to enjoy a local band we all follow with my friend who missed our last festival earlier this summer due to a sudden heart attack.

First off I've beaten cancer, but lost the war, so to speak. My lifelong marriage started it's 5 year journey to it's end when this movie came out. Together since my Senior year, her Sophomore though we were only 18 months apart. We met in Spain just before my life there truly changed. I got the male lead in West Side story mainly due to my 4 octave range & the acting in 1 play before also the male lead. I'd already played my originals & sand with my acoustic guitar in every class except Biology. Some every quarter, some once a semester. I was hired in a band in existence for a decade & within a month I was learning all the new Top 40, teaching them songs I knew & my originals. Javiar the Spanish guitarist who willingly shared lead & rhythm guitar with me, was a studio bass player. So difficult songs he took it upon himself to switch to bass, since we'd had issues finding a replacement bass player after the first was shipped back Stateside. So I taught a rhythm guitarist who was great at high falsetto harmonies to play a basic bass. Javiar wasn't able to say goodbye to me after the 18 months we played & became so very close. I kept the name, always with the hope of connecting with him, but I didn't realize in Spain if you don't have their middle name, or address, you'll never find them. It weighted heavy on me that after a decade, they packed it in when I made the decision I wasn't letting the love of my life slip away. I was there about 5 day's after they arrived in Michigan where her parents grew up. But 20+ years & the old saying absence makes the heart grow fonder, they'd forgotten how much they hated winter. I hated the 6 nice days of sumner~. I'd gotten hired 5 days off the plane by Radio Shack & transferred to the top store in 2 weeks. 9 months later my 1st store is manage on Detroit's infamous 8 Mile road Eminem's neighborhood. But being an Air Force brat, & especially in Spain, we were all Americans, plus I never saw color. Long before I found out my Grandpa was half black. The black field hand's son. Between 11 & 12 he was tired of beatings with a coal shovel & left home, walked across Iowa & Nebraska doing odd jobs. Lied about his age to fight in WWI. My Mom's mom was full blooded Blackfoot Indian, but after smallpox was raised off the reservation in a deaf school. Which explains why my soul always felt at home in the Black hills near Rapid City 12 miles from Mt Rushmore. 2007 is when my wife of 30 years & dating & engaged 3+ years fell deep into alcoholism & there was 5 years of hell. She wanted & got her divorce without 1 sober conversation. But by far losing my oldest son in 2016 was horrific & I was useless except when I spent time with my youngest son, I'd never had let him know how difficult it was, he's the type that would've dropped everything for his Dad & I wouldn't allow that. I was blessed as a father & both my son's were very successful. My son died 7 hours after I hugged him & told him I loved him as I always did & will continue to do. We're guaranteed nothing in this life. I tried the online dating scene & between Catfish's or crooks I found 2 aI felt a connection with, but both as it turned out had extreme alcohol issues & I wasn't going to relive that experience. I had to find my own protocol, since no Dr gave me a chance to live. This movie hit hard, after losing my closest sister (18) months apart, only in age were we closer, I had 4 younger sisters, now 3. My baby sister lost her 1st born son within 5 minutes to a blood clot in his brain, not a second worth of warning. That was so very hard to see. And lastly my Dad gave up cuz of the flu. Hell I had the equivalent of it for a year, but I can't change the past. I've fought damn near everything humanly possible but I fight for my son, since his Mom's grown distant in miles & who she is or isn't. He doesn't deserve any of that. I still have my 84 yr old mother, & too many nieces & nephews since all from my wife's side still call me Uncle Ric. I won't say it's been easy but little worth a cr@p is. Love your channels & spirit.

Loved this movie because both actors remind me of both my grandfathers. On my dads side my grandfather was 2nd generation immigrant that had huge family and loved learning. He was like Morgan Freeman of constantly learning all his life full of random information. He was one of the smartest people I ever knew and respected. On my moms side also 2nd generation immigrant grandfather was a adventure and cowboy at heart. He loved life and just doing things, he always found a way to make his dreams come true. Almost everything shown in this movie he did/visited from pyramids, to great wall of China, the safari. He even attempted to climb Mt Everest but had to turn around half way because some of crew's life was endangered during climb. So amazing as this movie seems its not too far how amazing real life can be as well.
