My hometown park! I've been going there since I was a tiny child. The Wacky Shack used to terrify me!
I loved the wacky shack when I lived there about 5 years ago. It was probably my favorite ride
I was 12 before I was brave enough for Pirates Cove lol.
I used to live there.
Same.
I still have the speech memorized form the hours I spent in that line as a child. "HelloOoOo earthliiings"
I've lived in Erie my whole life. When this video popped up in my youtube feed I thought here we go...another person making fun of Erie and talking about why our city is terrible. It was nice to see someone enjoying the park the way I did all through my childhood and into today. Thanks for sharing a small part of what makes Erie a charming city to live in. If you didn't go down to the beach for a sunset you missed out 😉
I miss Shickalay's or however it was spelled. Great food. I guess covid did it in. Nice little city to visit. I grew up by the ocean, so the views are comforting when the wind is up. And yes, fantastic sunsets.
Man thats what i thought but i also think that its great that he is shining light on our small town amusement park
I feel the same about my hometown, Luton in the UK. It has gotten a very bad rep over the last few years, but it has some amazing places and communities, and I'm proud to be a Lutonion. I'll always stick up for my hometown.
Eerie looks lovely and this park looks like so much fun! Would love to visit one day ❤️
I agree with you on this. Erie is a wonderful place to live. I love my hometown!
I love living in Erie
I lived in Erie for some time. Waldameer is always a good time! Many fun days I have spent there. Hope you stoped by Sara's ice cream and grabbed a treat on your way out!
"screaming in my heart to prevent the spread of the pandemic" sent me rolling. thank you so much Jacob for these videos, i'm new to your channel but i always look forward to them, they never fail to cheer me up.
Baggerisms of the day:
"Oh, there's Spookiness happening everywhere..."
"Oh, flashing lights... super discombobulating..."
"What the heck.. let's do it... I made a Terrible mistake... oh my God... OH MY GOD...... I Hate roller coasters..."

qdood, 😁👍🏼
I love seeing your comments on all of Carpetbagger's videos, hehe!
"A giant rat! Ohh"
The flashing lights in the wacky shack can cause someone with epilepsy to have a gnarly seizure, I wish they were more inclusive
Carpetbagger: I hate roller coasters
* proceeds to ride all the coasters in the park *
It’s important to push yourself
@@TheCarpetbagger you took one (or 3) for the team...LOL
Does anyone know if this park had a biergarten in the 70s that used to host sangerbunds? I remember going to some park around the bicentennial so my Grandparents could sing, and have been trying to track down what park it was.
@@TheCarpetbagger You do it so well Jacob, you rock the world! You are so fun to watch!
@@TheCarpetbagger I like that someone else noticed your secret love of coasters.
The amount of greenery or flora makes this park look gorgeous
This guy is hysterical! Nice old-school park right here in PA.
814✌
Jacob: I grew up in Pennsylvania in the ‘50s and ‘60s. I’m loving the tour of all the old school PA. amusement parks! Keep it going! Thanks!
John Kaczinski where about
Wilkes-Barre
Wow, I don't think I have ever seen it so empty as when you were there! The line for Whacky Shack is usually at least 30 minutes....I grew up in Erie and go to Waldameer whenever I visit. Great park!
Yeah I got there early last year, the line was long and it was really really early in the day. It was fun though.
Carpetbagger: "I hate rollercoasters"
Also Carpetbagger: *goes on ALL the rollercoasters.
Dedicated investigative reporting ladies and gentlemen.
haaaaaaaa
Lol, I’m 30 mins from there, I love the lazy river
Me too it’s an amazing ride haha I wish they would make it bigger
Good Park. See why it’s popular. Love these Ole Parks🎪🎟
I was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania. Waldameer is a highlight of Erie.
814 baby👍✌
Good ole Peach Street 👍🏼
Excellent video it's nice to see an old park still keeping up and even expanding some. Where those orange square were on the wacky shack people occasionally would hop off and surprise the next riders.
hi jacob i love youuuuu ! me and my brother used to watch yu all the time together, unfortunately he passed on april 2nd ( 2020 ) . so now i watch your videos alone 😣❤️. i love yu keep up the good work .
😢sorry homie
God bless
I'm so sorry for your loss❤️
Sorry for your loss 💙
I'm so very sorry for your loss :,(
LMAO! "I'm one of the few who look the same" *Staring at fun house mirror* I feel ya man.
I’m so sad!! You came on my one day off 🥺🥺 I hope you enjoyed your visit though! If I would have known you were coming I would have gotten you on the Ferris wheel!
Maybe next time!
Glad they opened this year! I had heard they weren’t.
Erin Yep! Lots of new rules but open none the less
Hmm. I grew up by Kennywood but never heard of this place. I always heard of Conneaut Lake Park which I guess is in the same region. I really need to get around my own state more.
Heard they shouldn't have opened. So glad refund my passes. Nice family park but officially season pass holders got screwed & cedar point, kennywood and Darien lake now cheaper than this small park. Feel bad for employees
I was here in the early ‘70’s and the Whacky Shack is still the same. The cars haven’t even changed. I was so impressionable as a kid. I panicked going through the red squares yelling to my friend we wouldn’t fit as they were getting smaller. She was a bit older than me and she reached forward to push the door and show me it was just a painted illusion. But not even the Jersey Shore has a fun house as good as this one is.
😂
Lol Jacob, did you say “ I’m screaming in my heart” on the Steel Dragon ride, your so brave lmao 😂, this looked like a really good, clean and well maintained fun park, thankyou Jacob for going beyond your comfort level x
The old school rides are way scarier and more fun than all the new rides they make nowadays. Great video, can't wait till the next park.
We are blessed here in PA with great classic amusement parks. I absolutely cherish the Tracy Whacky Shack and Pirates Cove! Going to Knoebels this weekend. Hopefully we'll get a chance to do Waldameer this season too!
814👍
Found a more recent video of Pirate's Cove.

Looks pretty cool.
The wacky shack is my absolute favorite ride
814👍
If you have any family with epilepsy, make sure they don’t look at the flashing lights for too long because I don’t want them to have seizures, I’m just trying to make sure everything is inclusive, I’m not a park executive because I’m all the way down south but I watch videos about people with epilepsy so you should make sure it is the company that Bill Tracy works for worked for makes an anti-epileptic version of it for people who struggle with the seizures
Awesome old school dark ride.
I live just 20 minutes from there. Went there multiple times every summer when I was a kid. Great amusement park!
Wish I would’ve known you were going to be there would have love to meet you!
@@marty7549 nah just a fan 👍🏼
Amazing amusement park still active and built in the 1800s you can still have fun but in a low-key way!!! Nice!!
Facts
I've lived in Erie Pennsylvania all my life and I'm 67 years old. Waldameer has always been the best place to go in the summer. And the Waterpark is awesome too. I even worked there one summer. Its a family owned park and its very well taken care of.
Thanks for letting me go places with you & your camera. I'm 73 and don't get out any more. You were hilarious on the coaster. Glad it was you and not me. That looks like a fun place. Keep entertaining me.....
Dude awesome, hope all is well. I really like watching these kinds of videos. Well have a nice day.
Was a ride operator on the whacky shack in the summers of 93 and 94. Long days but good memories! Classic ride
That roller coaster actually looked more intense than I thought it was going to be. Now the train ride seems to be about my roller coaster 😂
The memorial "park" is dedicated to Nancy, along with another member of the WNYCC (Western New York Coaster Club) who passed away.
I grew up in Ohio but live in NC now. Carowinds may be my go to park with the kids but nothing beats Waldemeer and Cedar Point! The Ravine Flyer 2 is the best woodie on the face of the planet and totally deceives the newbie into thinking it’s just another leisurely ride! Thank you for this trip-I’m missing my annual trips this year.😢
You were just down the road from me. This was awesome.
814👍
I have lived in Erie PA since I was 7. Honestly it made my heart soooooo happy that you LOVED wacky shack. I have so many happy memories of riding that with my grandfather all the way up through highschool. It's a tradition. He is still my ultimate companion for that ride
I have a very similar experience with my late father ❤
I love it... .
OMG! I laughed so hard!!! “I made a terrible mistake!” And that utter sound of disgust at the end of the coaster was hilarious! And then you “Oh My Goshed” through the kiddy coaster! Now I’m on the floor. We love the sacrifices you make for us viewers. Perfect way to start my last day of the work week.
Because I was so young when I went on the Ravine Flyer 2. I am now terrified of every roller coaster
Same, I did all the coasters when I was little. Now for some reason they scare me lol.
15:00 Quote of the day - 'I think we were younger when we last rode this' Waaaahaaaa!! Really!!
The whacky shack is my fav. Been going here every summer since I was a kid. 💜
814👍
Me too
Hey! You were in my home state! I live in meadville about 40 minutes from Erie!!
That’s awesome I live just north of Albion in Springfield!
Lol i live north pittsburgh
Cool
Hey I'm from cochrnaton pa
I live North of Allentown PA.
Thank you for visiting my hometown park. I really enjoyed this video. Ive been going to that park since i was a kid.
814👍
Hearing the moans and groans from someone behind the camera that is not excited about their next adventure and knowing it is coming from Jacob trying to give us viewers a little sneak peek of the ride makes me laugh so hard every time. Mr. Carpetbagger reflects the true definition of taking one for the team. He knows it scares the poo out of himself but he also knows it entertains the masses so he does whatever hes gotta do to put smiles on our faces. Thanks for all the hardwork and being solely responsible for me being in a good mood at least 4 or 5 times a month. You are one of a kind and I proudly standup and applaud every single part of that one of a kind man!!
I WAS JUST THERE THE OTHER DAY-this is some trippy stuff XD
That’s awesome I live right down the road.
@@ThisIsWheelLife How much snow you get ?
scott smith Quite a bit usually although last winter was pretty mild compared to most I actually have a video of me with my 4 x 4 Wheelchair plowing snow it’s like my second video on my channel
scott smith we got 12 ft in 2017-2018 lol
Keepyupy yep. Crazy winter. If the lake freezes it’s not so bad.
Thanks for taking one for the team!🤣🎢
Waldameer is such a great park!!!! When there isn’t a a pandemic it’s quite busy and it’s nice because it’s free to just walk in if you aren’t riding!!!!
They are not free to walk in this year. They are charging admission due to a late opening and short season.
Watching this 3 year later and it cool to see how much its changed in that time.
Iv been through pirates cove so many times I know it like the back of my hand. It’s so worth the check out when it’s open.
I havn't been to Pirates Cove in awhile
I agree.
I have a lot of fond memories of That place, my father would drive up north to take me, and my family on the day before the first day of school.
I live near there! Only a few miles away up near the Millcreek Mall.
Waldameer is located near the entrance to Presque Isle state park; a beautiful, lush peninsula dotted with beaches.
Waldameer is wonderful. They are constantly putting money into it. Season passes are great. 3 visits & it pays for itself. Includes the waterpark too. Some rides are closed due to limited staff. It sometimes happens when there isn't a pandemic. Awesome that you took a pic with the bench clown. It's been a staple at Waldameer for a VERY long time. The line at the Whacky Shack is always the longest in the park. Thanks for visiting our local gem. Come back again!
I love this amusement park. It’s only 40 minutes from my home and fine myself just hopping in the car to go there several times during the season. It’s a wonderful park for small children because of the size. Another nice thing is that you don’t have to pay to enter the park if you have no -riders with you. Only pay if you are doing the rides.
I know that's right... .
LOVED water world as a kid. I have a picture up in my house of my sisters and me the first time we went there in 1999.
Born and raised in Erie!!! Jacob I hope you got to go to the Erie Maritime museum its an entire museum dedicated to the war of 1812 and great lakes shipping
I love your park videos because you don't focus just on the roller coasters, but you show everything they have to offer. I don't know what camera you're using, but your dark ride pov's have just the right amount of light.
If you're in PA be sure not to miss Knoebels
I went there last year it was so much fun
YES! I just commented yesterday about Waldameer on the Idlewild video!
Hi Jacob awesome vlog at the Waldameer park in Erie, PA. Very great 👍🏻 scenery 😀
814👍
Yay! I'm so excited that you are finally in my neck of the woods :). I live about 10 minutes from Waldameer. Hope you had fun.
Ps I wish I could have warned you not to ride the commet. You're head probably hurt for hours. It's like someone beating you with a wooden board haha.
814👍
My hometown! So happy you got to visit!
Ive been here, just about 2 hours from where it is now. I personally enjoyed it alot
The old kiddie rides at the beginning, the rockets, the pony and cart ride and the boats brings back memories of a million years ago in seaside park NJ on the funtown pier,, my mothers aunt had a bungalow half a block from the boardwalk we stsyed there every summer for my fathers two week vacation he worked in the post office, when, I still have the home movies my father took of me on those rides and I can't forget the helicopter ride they had as well , it's nice to see them restored and still in use.
Jacob, you are the brother I always wanted. I had fun.
I rode the big coaster a few years ago. Never again. You riding all 3 is most impressive. Your a brave man.
4:57 Wow that flashing lights segment made me feel dizzy. I imagine someone with epilepsy watching this could get triggered.
Yes! I really think there should be a warning at the beginning of the video for that.
I grew up in Erie going to Waldameer and Cedar Point. Both are the bomb. The wacky shack is my favorite. This video brings back such fond memories.. Thank you from Philly!
Jacob and rollercoasters... Very entertaining! I now want to visit Waldameer Amusement Park and ride Ravine Flyer II.
Thanks for taking a bunch of rides for the team! Great series I look forward to watching your classic park visits.
4:57 starts strobe lights: seizure warning ⚠️
One time I was there at closing time so I got to ride the Ravine Flyer II multiple times over and over. It was awesome!
Lucky you, you actually got to ride the Wacky Shack for its 50th anniversary! But alas no, Nancy Carrigan was not the figure skater but a coaster enthusiast that belonged to several coaster clubs. She was known to us as "Tilt-and-Hurl" Carrigan.
Thank you for being here in Erie pa
Four coasters in one vlog.....you are the man sir!!
High Jacob, there is only one word for this and all so for your other vlogs:"Brilliant ".You are the best ambessedor for your beautifull nation. You are in your explenations everytime respectfull, informativ and sometimes we hear a little bit of american humor. Please more, and greatings from Germany
Your roller coaster rides do make me chuckle 🤣
Yet another great old school park!
Really cool parks and classic coasters! Thanks
Erie proud! Thank for visiting 😊
Wow o my gosh!!! That roller coaster was fast. Yet again your camera went through that ride like champ. And you to carpetbagger.
I'm so glad you love the whacky shack as much as I do!
Oh man, I’m sorry Pirates Cove was not open! It is every bit as good as the Wacky Shack. It is so cool in there. I hope you get to come back and experience it some time.
Been going there since I was a kid. Haven’t been since covid but I love the park!!! It’s so cute for a “small” town!
My hometown park I could walk there from my house. My first roller coaster was comet and I saw the whole ravine flyer 2 being built. Still got photos from the disposal camera. Looking forward to see you go next thanks
814👍
Given your past with coasters I çan't help but admire your resilience.
I've been going to Waldameer for 35 years. My dad used to have his company picnic there every year until he retired. My mother-in-law has company picnics there to this day. We missed the opportunity to go last year, because I didn't want to take any chances with the outbreak.
lol I stumbled upon this! Born and raised in Erie. This vid made me decide to hit the park this summer when haven't been in YEARS. Years ago there was also Conneaut Lake Park in Conneaut Oh and across the road was Fairyland Forest which was for the small kids who couldn't really go on the big rides across the road. Was a BIG fire that pretty much destroyed Conneaut Lake Park, fortunately new owners stepped up and were able to reopen it.
Love the obscure spots... everybody and their brother does the big ones!
Tilt-a-whirl, always my first go-to ride! Yay! Whacky shack was pretty scary!
I'm with you about roller coasters. You totally crack me up !
That was awesome! Wish I had something like this close to home bc I would be there every day. Thank you for sharing 💕
Life is so much better when you go through dark rides. Makes my day. :-D
Loved the Wacky Shack! And that coaster was pretty tense for a wooden coaster! Lol
Great upload brother appreciate your hard work stay blessed 🤗
Wow... this were my father grew up and my grandparents. THANKYOU for the great memories!!
I live here! Love this park so much. So many good memories ♥️♥️
I love small traditional parks with lots of trees.
The Ranger ride by Huss would be the ship that goes upside down. Great Ride
I have been there before and the mascots names are Wally and Wendy
Thankq for making this 😃 Waldameer is my happy place. And 2020 was a very special year for us there! My older child was working there(operating the train, the music express, the paratrooper, the comet, and the ravine flyer 2) , and me and my younger one and my dog where there practically everyday( not all day😁) but at least for a bit each day! We knew so many of the workers and so many other families that were doing the same thing as us . The highlight of everyday during the summer of covid was getting there and seeing who would be at Waldameer that evening 😂 it was amazing to almost have the park to ourselves and a few others most of the time, never having to wait for anything, but I was terrified Waldameer would go out of business during covid fear year😢. Thank you for preserving this special place in video on UA-cam!❤️
The frenzoid at Carowinds went all the way around but, it hasn't been there since showbiz pizza lol
What is wonderful about Waldemeer is that you do not have to pay to go, only to ride. Also there are picnic table areas. We would bring all our food and drinks and set up a picnic table. Us kids would ride and my parents would just walk around. We would be there from open to close. The park is great after dark.
This is awesome!!! I live about 45 minutes from here. How wild! Awesome video. Thunder River is my favorite ride. But the Ravine Flyer is a great coaster. Pirates Cove is good too

I love your channel Man
