A better way to remove the bushings is to heat up the subframe around the bushing till the rubber starts to melt, then just hit the whole thing out with a hammer, took me about 30 to remove all 7, really easy
That 's some true E36 love over there (beats engineers at the BMW dealer for sure)! Paintjob looks good. If you can't get all rust out, you can get a converter over it. I work at my E46 coup and my E36, this really gives me some inspiration to go on, keep up the good work!
Great work. I'm wondering how the paint would hold up in the long run. I did a bunch of frame braces for my Maxima and rattled can it, few weeks later the paint started to chip off despite the careful paint prep. I would seriously get it powder coated, especially when you already invested a ton of time and money for new parts too. To cut down on the cost, clean it as good as you can, especially the rust so that they don't have to bead blast them too much and look for common high demand color. I'm also in the process of doing similarly and plan to powder coat the sub frame, the control arms, trailing arms, and the diff housing.
Totally. The paint is holding up fine but powder coat would have been much better. On my list for things to do in the future. If you dont mind the extra cost and you'll be keeping the car for a while then go for it.
Just replacing the old bushings to even stock Factory new ones would have improved the ride immensely. I'm worried that having all poly bushings back their is going to create a very rough ride and every vibration is going to transfer and you may not like it. It will definitely stiffen everything up and you're going to feel it for sure! ...but if that was a daily driver, you might regret hard poly bushings. Just my humble opinion.
did the paint dry/cure ok? spray painting outside with freezing temperature would concern me a bit, but great job, I wonder if BMW have a tool to remove the bushings?
There are bushing removal tool sets that would work but they can be a pain to work with as well. I definitely cut some corners painting when it wasn't very warm out but that was really my only option and so far it has held up ok.
please buy yourself knee pad it will help. great vid p.s the knee pad is basically foam board about 2x3 and you place it on the ground prior to working on your knee/knees
Mine is around $200/ month and unfortunately not 24/7. Wouldn't want to be there at night though because most storage units don't have electricity or lights. Thanks!
Great video! can't wait for the weather to break so I can clean mine up, 3m has a very tough undercoat that would further protect the cradle after paint good job!
Hey, thanks for the love 🙏! This subframe rebuild is looking awesome. Keep up the great work man!
We miss your content brother. My car would be dead and buried if I didn’t see your channel.
I'm a simple man. I see a guy playing with fire I upvote.

Man, your car is so well taken care off... I'm proud of you.
Great video man. Your really good at moving the story along so its super easy to watch. Looking forward to the next video!

I always like you more and more after each video, great content, keep it up mate! 👌

Agreed, would have farmed this out for bead blasting/powdercoating and saved a ton of work.

@@TreatsOnTheStreets thanks and great work! I need to do the same on my Z3.
Those bronze rims look good especially with the blue gray paint👍

Gavin your the man ! Really inspiring me to do the same thing to my E46 M3. Can’t wait for the next video man ! Keep up the good work !
Thanks man! Hope this all helps when you decide to do it on your m3
I think I’ll use the stuff for gas tanks for the rust removal.
I love your channel mate! I am also taking care of my e36 :)
your videos just keep on getting better, man. Keep up the good work! i used this to replace my rear trailing arm.
This is great! Except killing it with fire, that was fun 🤣 Really props to taking this on your own. Good job, keep it clean!
Cheers
Thanks man!
lmfao didn't expect that quick reggae segment
Your video inspired me to do the same procedure:) I am a Little curios about the handbreak wires, where they hard to refit?
They weren't too bad at all 👍
I've been waiting for this!!!
hey bro did u use hi temp paint on the diff and subframe or no?
where did you get the new front screws for the diff ?
did the paint dry/cure ok? spray painting outside with freezing temperature would concern me a bit, but great job, I wonder if BMW have a tool to remove the bushings?

It won't last a full year, it was obvious your surface prep was less than 110%
@@reallyhappenings5597 so far it looks like the day I sprayed it.
Another great video. 👌
when you are done with the rebuild make a list of all the parts that need to be ordered?what you ordered
I'll have to do that. Maybe on the final episode of the build I'll go over everything I used.
Perfect
I only need to do the sway bar reinforcement plates if upgrading sway bar right???
It is more likely to fail with an aftermarket sway bar.
I can't wait for winter to be over and start working on my e36
5 yrs ago seems to be most e36 videos. Soon we will have more from meeeeeee.
subed. really good video

Is it expensive to rent one of those units?? Are they 24/7? Nice rebuild!

Could you bring a generator in for detailing your car in there and stuff?
Moat places don't want you working on things in a storage unit. Haha I'm lucky to have been able to do what I have this far.
Ahh okay thanks for the clarification!
What paint did you use?Can u put the link?
I used two different cans of Rustoleum. First a rust inhibiting primer, then a satin black paint. I don't have a link but that's what I used 👍.
Great video! can't wait for the weather to break so I can clean mine up, 3m has a very tough undercoat that would further protect the cradle after paint good job!
Thanks!@@TreatsOnTheStreets
Bro what is your occupation
update? how much difference did it make?
I'll be releasing another video later today!
You really don't need to burn out the bushings. Just heat the outside metal for about a minute then whack them with a hammer. They will pop right out.
prntscr.com/mfhcv0 6:04 YEET mfs 🤣🤣
Really thick rust😂
Hitt the like button
👍👍👌
Oh, the bushing stink.....yummy.
Sloppy
This guy complains alot
