Hello, Mattias! Can Bitwing clips send "Program change message" with this function you can change VST presets on one track, each clips have own preset for example. Thank you
Yes you can add Program Change values to clips too. 1. Select a midi clip. 2. Press SHft+Tab to open the editor. 3. Press "Show automation panel" icon / button. 4. Select Program Change type in the automation panel. 5. Add automation nodes (values) to the automation lane. 6. Fire clip. Ok? ;)
Yes, i bealive) I don't use Bitwig, but in Ableton it didn't work with VST3...it's insane! For me that one of the most useful function and i think go Bitwig.Big thanks for answer!!!@@MattiasHolmgren
Hi THanks, just select a clip and press "tab" to enter the Edit Panel Layout view. Then just make automation visible. Now you can edit and fiddle with the clips unique automation lanes.
Oh thanks happy to share. This is a free episode from my extensive Bitwig Masterclass course available at store.morningdewmedia.com happy to have u aboard! 🎉
Thanks, Mattias. But what if I want to play clips off the grid - if I want to trigger them without the quantisation pre-roll waiting for a new bar to start. How do I turn it off, like in Ableton?
You adjust how the clips should behave (per clip) in the inspector panel. There’s plenty of options to fiddle with. Sorry for lack of info, i’m at the airport flying home from berlin Superbooth. 😂
Recording clips from clip launcher to arrangement will (by default) end up to their respective track. Because else they would trigger different sounds. What you can do is just… afterwards, move the clips to whatever track u want. 🤷♂️👌🥳
Great video! Works great for a particular workflow, which only uses clip-launching, not clip-recording. My workflow is starting one step earlier than shown in this video here: I record everything live into the cliplauncher AND the arranger, on the fly. Which means: I not only launch clips, but i also record them live, first! As soon as you try to do this "real" live performance in Bitwig and also want to record it in the Arranger, you got a huge problem: UNDO/REDO does not work! Recording in Arranger/Recording Midi Overdub deactivates Undo completely, while it's going on. It's incredibly annoying since Undo is one of the most fundamental workflows of any recording process, for notes, automation, audio-recording, everything. And in Ableton it works and i was using it for years. And there's another problem: When recording into the arranger is active, and you record Audio or Midi into a Clip-Slot of the Launcher, the Audio or Midi-Notes are not recorded into the Arranger. Only Midi-CC(Automation) is recorded into the Arranger, while Clip-Recording is active. Notes and Audio are ‘swallowed’ by the clip-recording. I reported both issues to Bitwig, i hope they'll decide to change it. Especially since Ableton does not have those impairments.
My first day in bitwig and I already figured rhis stuff out without wasting my time on this vid. There is nothing even resembling a "masterclass" here. Its just abc's for absolute beginners...
Indeed, but it’s part of a Masterclass, (a small fraction). And people are very happy to learn this stuff, that don’t get how it works. I’m holding their hand towards deeper knowledge. 😄 Realize this is free content. So just proceed further if you know the stuff already.🚀
Is there a way to assign my laptop keyboard keys to launch clips from either mix or arrange windows (like ctrl+k command in ableton)? it is very important please please it will be a great help as i cannot afford a launchpad currently. hope this comment reaches you.
Yes you can do that. In fact I used this technique in a recent track. Its quite easy to setup. You open the clip launcher and click on the pointing hand symbol on the lower right corner of the screen. Then you click on the "Play" symbol of your clip and hit the Key you want to use e.g. "A". An "A" will appear on the lower right corner of your clip. Exit this mode with "escape" key or click the pointing hand symbol again. Next time you hit the "A" key the clip will be played. This works for combinations with the key too. E.g. ALT+A, or SHIFT+A is also possible. Just make sure that the key is not allready assigned to something else. E.g. the "M"-Key toggles the mixer. You can do this for all clips and use your keyboard instead of a launchpad.

thanks for all your Bitwig content! Just switching from Ableton and you are the Jedi Master
That’s awesome. Ableton and Bitwig is quite similar so it should be a quick switch fo you. 👌💪🥁 Thanks a ton for watching my content. 💎🎸
@@MattiasHolmgren for your Jam, do you use Drivenbymoss script?

@@MattiasHolmgren yes I am, I figure this will be an awesome songwriting tool!

Thanks for the video, nice demo track as well. Q: how did you automate the clips in the launcher ? assuming it is same as arrangement automation ?

This is the most clear and organized tutorial series I've seen on Bitwig here on UA-cam.
