The thing is that, the person or people that are doing the hoarding need physical help. Like a therapist to talk to about their hoarding and other issues going on. Obviously the clean up is just not enough. The person should have gotten free therapy. I have watched some of those hoarding episodes briefly. It's very difficult for some of those people to clean up their stuff. Some do make the change and others do not. A therapist does come in to talk to the hoarder though of the reason behind them hoarding so much and how to go about getting better. I do feel for the neighbors too for putting up with it.

This might just be laziness because they can quickly clean up and get rid of stuff when needed. My daughter has a weird hoarding habit she's working on. She keeps glass bottles. At first I thought it was a collection because the ones she kept were really cool but then we were just getting the run of the mill bottles piling up in her room. I knew this was a start of a problem. She's in therapy and she's now agreed to keep around twenty and toss the rest out. If this was hoarding, it would be like pulling teeth to get the hoarder to throw things out.

I don’t mean to seem heartless, but the owners issues and traumas are not our problem. There are people that simply lives and enjoy living worse than a pack of animals. The property needs to be taken away through police power and the owners can be rehoused in a skilled facility. You can’t help those who don’t want help. The neighbors stated the people are loud and most likely dangerous so it’s obvious this is more than a hoarding situation. Give home owners two years (that’s a long time) to get the help they need to clean up their properties or risk losing it. Bank should also require properties must stay in a reasonable state or risk foreclosure.

To those that say give them a dumpster, that just doesn't work and you need to read a bit about 'hoarding'. The people with these problems actually have physical (because of the debris they live in) and mental health issues. It's not about having a place to throw their garbage or 'junk' away. They can't find anything that 'needs' to be thrown away. It's all kept for a reason. 'This piece could be fixed. I might need that. The kids could use this. Look at that (???) that someone threw away - it's still in good shape. I might want to read that book. I might find some information in that newspaper someday when I need it.' They cannot let anything go. Each and every item is 'important' and 'necessary' including their household garbage. If you gave them 25 dumpsters and acres of land it would all be filled with things that they need to 'keep' (including the dumpsters). As is noted in this video, someone like the City can come in and dispose of everything and clean it up. It will be completely refilled in no time. It's a horrible problem to have. It's a horrible situation for anyone trying to live with (survive) with a hoarder in the family. Significant others that work, who are meticulous in their jobs and children in school that come home to this every single day. Escape isn't easy. It can be compared to living with an alcoholic or a drug user. And to my knowledge, although some progress may have been made over the past couple of years, it seems to be impossible to change this 'habit' of hoarding. It's disgusting, it's filthy, it's uninhabitable, it's debilitating and, regrettably, it is a very real issue.
So, For people in general, understanding what is going on doesn't help fix anything but at least you have an answer for the 'Why' of it all. I hope this sheds some light on how these situations happen.

There's a person like that up the street from me. It got cleaned up 4 or 5 years ago and within 6 months or so all the junk/trash was back. I see the person going through people's trash/recycling everyday. And they collect about 3-4 weeks of trash/recycles in a day.

Not only would they be risking bringing in disease, but probably a few attaching Spirits as wel!l Have you people never watched those true accounts of hauntings on Discovery Channel?
