  • What is the better platform for Streamers who want to do this long term, where should we stream? Well, I asked Twitch Partners, people who all have reached that beautiful purple tick, to choose between UA-cam Live and Twitch.
Today they are answering that question from risks to advertisements, stability, discoverability, and so much more!
This video will also give you actionable advice to make your content creation career more stable in the long term, and help you pick which platform is best for you… while learning from other more experienced creators mistakes and successes.

    How To Grow On Twitch?
If you want to grow your Twitch stream, it is important to be critical. Being critical isn’t a bad thing, people say, “Oh don’t be so critical of yourself!”.
But there are a lot of things you can control and improve, such as your visuals, audio, and most importantly your content that you’re creating. Watch back your VoD and be honest with yourself, is it up to scratch. Does your mic sound good? Are you engaging? Is it easy to watch and enjoy or is there something that is off-putting? Be honest, push yourself to grow, and become a better entertainer!
Because at the end of the day, the only way you are going to grow your stream is by growing yourself and being critical in a positive way.

How To Become More Confident As A Streamer:
If you want to have zero fear of failing while you practice, what I want you to do is get your phone out or sit down at your webcam, don’t prepare any notes or stories to tell just hit record and start filming yourself, and I want you to talk for 10 minutes without stopping, without a chat to help you. Just talk and try to be entertaining by yourself.
Finish your 10 minutes, but DO NOT watch it back right away. Close your phone, go about your day, and then the next day, sit down, watch back those 10 minutes on your phone without any distractions. Just watch yourself, and then when the 10 minutes is done, hit record and film another 10 minutes. Don’t watch it, until the next day then rinse and repeat.
Repeat this process daily, not only will you become a much more confident speaker, but you’ll find it becomes much easier to fill those 10 minutes.
This is crucial that you learn to become entertaining without a chat, because often if you need a chat to be entertaining then you aren’t actually entertaining.
The style of this video is similar to Alpha Gaming and Gaming Careers in parts. A large influence on this series has come from content creators like Wild4games and Nutty.

I started streaming here on UA-cam almost exactly a year ago and I don't think I would ever swap to Twitch. Having streams, videos, and shorts all on the same site is just such a huge benefit, and it's gotten me way further than streaming on Twitch ever would have in this amount of time.
Also 100% take the 1000 views every time over the 100 average viewers. UA-cam would freak out seeing those numbers and keep pushing that even further!

What I've been seeing from other content creators is that they will make UA-cam videos/shorts, tiktoks and also stream on twitch. They will put a foot into every platform and try the conversion game. Personally I do find it hard to grow on twitch, however, being on youtube everyday I have never seen a UA-cam live recommendation unless it was someone I am already subbed to so I have been hesitant to attempt a UA-cam stream

For me, streaming is more or less a hobby, although I am thankful to everyone who helped me reach affiliate on Twitch. That said, if I was serious about content creation, I would 100% stream and make videos for UA-cam (I've even had several ideas over the years but no technical knowledge to make them happen), because Twitch nowadays is far too stressful for a serious content creator (and most of them post their VODs or curated videos of said VODs on YT anyway).

As someone who started on UA-cam vlogging, then moved to Twitch to stream video games simultaneously uploading shorts to UA-cam and occasionally live streams...I would say that it's been interesting, but tough being consistent with both! However, hoping it's worth it giving both some time.

When anyone ever asks me to do Twitch or UA-cam I always give them this analogy
Twitch is like working fast food, you are living the dream when you are teenager but once you grow up and have bills it will be exhausting and will not be good anymore.
UA-cam is like that career job that you went to school for or had to have other life experience, yes its more work but in the long term you will be happier and will get easier as time goes on and will be something you will retire with.

Enjoyed the video and all the opinions. My thoughts are that when you've asked people in the past about this, the reason why they've said twitch is that the people you've talked to today are larger streamers and those you've asked in the past are smaller streamers. I have 200 followers on twitch, an average of 10 viewers, and make little money now and then. I've recently started doing shorts on youtube and got a video with almost 700 views (astounding as I've only got 32 subscribers) but none of that translated to new subscriptions or to revenue in any way. Twitch makes it easy to earn a little pocket change. That said, i'm approaching this as someone who streams because they enjoy it and not for the money. I would also say that the kinds of people who watch twitch streams and those who watch youtube overlap, but they're not necessarily the same demographic. Love the content, looking forward to seeing more

    • @mmmontanhez
      @mmmontanhez Рік тому

Same experience here. I have 535 followers on Twitch, average 20ish viewers, and I make a mininum paycheck every month (started my channel 5 months ago). I've posted a LOT of shorts on TikTok and some on UA-cam, some of which has got waaay up 1k views and those NEVER converted into new viewers or any form of revenue. I feel that if I used that time to improve my channel I would be doing even better.
Not everyone can be successful UA-camrs, not everyone can be successful streamers and even less people can be both.

Very interesting responses. 100 consistent views on Twitch is well above the minimum for monetation in a way that 1000 isn't really on UA-cam, yet I can't disagree with the verdict here. 1000 views on every video is a lot of reach and, here on youtube, that reach breeds more reach and converts to reach elsewhere far better. I don't agree with the suggestion that I see a lot of places that streaming on UA-cam is a viable option for smaller content creators - That barrier to entry is still a lot higher than on Twitch - but putting the focus on UA-cam as a video platform where you're going to grow and find your audience makes a tonne of sense.

Yeah. The guy is on point about no one wants to klick some link while watching stream. But we gotta understand that for viewer it feels like -we all hanging out here in this room, and u go to another room we got something for you there. So the viewer kinda feel like if he click the link he is gonna miss something on stream or something. Even if u want to check link u prlly just gonna come back to it after stream, but by the end of stream u don’t remember there was some link. So maybe all these links should be offered near end of stream.
    I hope this makes sense

I personally started on Twitch about 2 years ago, I got to almost 1k followers, about 10 avg viewers, but around May this year, I decided to start making UA-cam videos. I grew a LOT faster with the videos, I got to 3k subs by September! At the beginning of September, I decided to make the switch and stream on UA-cam instead, and BOY AM I GLAD I DID! The first stream I ever did on UA-cam got up to 60 VIEWERS when I haven't even gotten to 40 on my own with twitch! Now I keep an average of 20-40, which is significantly higher than before and I'm happy with my choice! Especially since Twitch is trying to tank their platform XD

Disclaimer: *not using my "real" content creation info here so as not to try to take away from this amazing creator*
I'm a "small" creator (I don't like to use that word because it's self fulfilling) and I'm rapidly growing on both UA-cam and Twitch.
I am brand new to Twitch but am only there to hit affiliate to get access to some fun stuff not available on UA-cam as of yet. That said, my long play is to wrap up my mini streamathon (again brand new to Twitch and normally a video creator)and then switch to a casual stream schedule.
I didn't want to mess with Twitch actually until recently and I actually am streaming to get a specific kind of content I can't get by turning video creation with nobody watching into entertainment. What I mean is on Twitch, as mentioned in the video, you can be a lot more reactive and engage live with your audience. It's a lot harder to record gameplay when solo and have the same reaction. I actually intend to use my clips and recordings from Twitch to create content on UA-cam and Tiktok.
My TLDR: Twitch is terrible for newbies, best for established creators, and mostly only good for "utility" in creating more lively content that centers around gameplay. I'm finding far more success in UA-cam and only am growing so rapidly on Twitch (I just started last week and am almost to affiliate) BECAUSE I started on UA-cam and Tiktok FIRST.

Could you do a deep dive into Streamlabs Console? It's a paid service for those that don't have capture cards and use consoles to stream, they have almost no information about it on their website and when I asked the mods on discord for help with recurring issues they told me to reset the drivers and try not using their service to see if that fixes it. Their yt channel also has no info posted about it AT ALL and it seems to be that I paid them for a service that not only doesn't work but offers way less than their free Desktop version.

So as a new stream, I am completely confused by this and as a consequence I have been going forth from between youtube and twitch. Should I
a.) Stream purely on twitch, upload VOD/content on youtube?
b.) Stream and upload content on youtube, no twitch?
c.) Multistream on twitch and youtube?
    d.) Content now, stream later?
I can't be a full time content creator yet, so I have to pick my decision carefully and from what I can see in this video it seems like option d is the most viable answer?
Option A is currently what I'm doing right now, but just VODs for now since I have no time yet for content (currently studying how to edit videos). But would it be more beneficial for me to completely move to youtube? From what I see do, my VODs in twitch has more views than what I have on youtube. Like in twitch they get like 10-30 views, in youtube i'd be lucky to get 5 views.

And on twitch i didnt had any warnings or issues about that at all. Any advice how this all works?

Twitch has worse detection and sometimes the detection marks but won’t hit you with warnings, until one day all the strikes hit at once on mass.

Fun fact... Both options mean nothing. At least at the numbers that were offered and it meaning something to their respective algorithms.
The people aspect I would absolutely love, especially the Twitch one, just to have the interaction even for a few days is nice.... Though I wouldn't be able to keep those views up since alot of what happens is people stopping by for a moment to support, and then leave. I am lucky that I do have some people that I ended up finding as friends that do pop in frequently which is good, also keeps my mind from going insane and bored at the same time when playing a slightly boring game.
The views aspect UA-cam is also not that great when its only 1k, bro I got some that are up to like 15k, 20k, and there wasn't really any change that was seen.... Of course I stream.... So..... But I do have the occasional video and its still those that stay in the 3 digit mark or only 2 digit. I am still happy that I get as much as I do because its fun to just chuckle at whatever I am editing, but after a while it just seemed like streaming helped more with that itch I have for immediate interaction and response to something that I am doing. I still try to be goofy, and I get a response right away based on the goofiness.
For the UA-cam one to really work, you would have to really tire yourself out with finding subjects or games to do a video on, you would have to basically burn yourself out trying to be funny or entertaining for each churned out video making each one after the last more n more evident of that burnout. Yes, it is alot of work to do Video Uploading/Being an Entertainer, it is also alot of work to realize that your out of material and really messed up your swim stroke down the roaring river of other content creators trying to also get by.
Take it from the guy who also ended up burning himself out even for something like streams. I used to do daily streams, at times multiple in one day. After a while it got cut to only daily, then some of the thoughts come in like "what should I play... This game?... No.. I already played that... This game?... No.. That one is a little boring and hard to try and make funny... This one?.... Ugh... Just not feeling that one... What about that one?.... Eeegh, that ones old, might as well play it on my own time." and bog the stream numbers down to like one a week. Currently, still in a mental state of wanting to pick my slack back up to daily or at least every 2 days, but it just never happens. It also doesn't help that I don't want to "network" because it just seems sleezy to me to want a friend for work or views, a little cheaty too lol.
Don't be me ladies n gents.... Do network, make money, don't burn out or even think for that matter... Like literally... Don't think, just do. The less the thoughts have a hold on you, the more you can just have fun and play around with your passions.

@@StreamScheme that's a point right there that should be definitely considered. I'm still at the very start, switching platforms wouldn't do any harm at all. I guess I have to re-visit UA-cam and give it a second go.

I started streaming with two others together. We talk about one specific topic during each stream while playing a game. My wish is to have people joining the discussion during the livestream. Now that there are very few people even watching, there is no chat activity that could be used to expand on the topic.
Uploading a video, having it online, it always could be the case people stumble over it and writing their take on the topic in the comment section. Then we could re-visit this topic some day with some additional input from the comment section.

Everyone is correct in this video, if you're going to start streaming now, start on YT. Weird because 100 viewers minimum always watching, is 100 people to help you make better streams with ideas and suggestions. This in turn helps you make better clips, shorts and videos for your youtube/tiktok channel. Either way neither grows quickly. The real question to ask is "Are you marketable/brandable?" Millions of videos or tens of thousands of twitch members means neither has good discoverability. The true smart play is work multiple platforms. Also have patience. Only the golden ticket people have grown fast in under a year or 3. Many big players have been on twitch for 5 plus years. Network and spread your content around. Its going to always be alot of work to get ahead. Never met a big streamer that hasnt busted their butt to get where they are or just been streaming for forever.
