Little old, and already educated on clutches, but I figured I would look to see what videos were out there for people. Honestly not a bad video. Just keep in mind to never use compressed air as the clutch can contain asbestos and other harmful material. Also, if replacing the flywheel, make sure you buy a set of ARP or other brand bolts...don’t reuse the old bolts
Looks to be a very crisp and clean video. Everything is easy to see except one thing: the pilot bearing. I did not see any instructions regarding the pilot bearing.
My guess is the red tool what you see in the middle of pressure plate, that will self-centered the component at the right place. Then you lock the bolts and voilà... Most of the time this tool is delivered with the clutch kit itself.
Yeah right....it's very easy when the vehicle manufacturer gave enough clearance to align the gearbox perfectly straight with the engine. 99% of gearboxes need to be angled so that the bellhousing will get as close to the engine as possible, then the tail lifted. Even then it won't go in on just the first try.
When aligning the transmission and engine, it's important to be able to cuss fluently in the vehicle's native language. I can cuss in German, Japanese and American English. I'd need to learn Swedish to work on a Saab, or Korean to work on a Kia.

1:18, that’s bullshit, it is possible, you can use a pair of vise grips to clamp it down while you tighten it up, I did. But guess what, I have severe clutch chatter, and have to do this whole process again with a new clutch set.
In the very old days flywheels were made extra thick and heavy to smooth out the engine vibration, that made the grinding option more feasible and economic than replacing especially in some poor countries in the world. The newer models are fitted with lighter weight flywheels with little room to wear so we have been replacing them most of time in recent years.
@@biaohan4358 I think you are referring to turning a flywheel on a lathe which makes sense on a thick steel OEM part. Nowadays everything is made to be thrown away.
Dear sir I am an employee o exedy india. I do not understand the hysteresis concept in clutch disc. Will u pl.explain what it is actually & which parts affect on hysteresis loss.
@@richrich9560 Is it really? I bought my first car which is a 94 Honda Accord and the gears are hard to shift now but I don't know if it's oil or clutch problem.
There is no need to replace the flywheel unless it's unevenly worn, scratched or heat damaged/warped, as the video described. It's a good idea to replace the rear main seal on the engine to prevent a leak 10,000 miles after a clutch replacement, which would require another new clutch and the $7 seal. It's also a good idea to replace the pilot bearing.

He didn't want to get his white gloves dirty . 😂
Believe or not, some vehicles don’t use a Pilot bearing. True 👍🏻
This car is brand new. Not a rustry, crusty piece of crap with half the bolts broken off in the aluminum housing.
Very informative and knowledgeable video

That's true with the average skill of today's mechanics, but not real specialists.

You just replaced a clutch on a old unmachined flywheel. Thats when i stopped the video and moved on to the next brand.
