Many thanks for this. I've just bought a new LuK DMF & clutch kit for my Mk5 Golf, and on the box it says you need the expensive tool to fit it - but I can see from your video that the springs are already compressed on the new plate. I also did a quick test-fit on the bench and the screws all reach the flywheel holes. Hopefully that means I'm good to go!
what about pressure plates that come with a center locking tool? when resetting the pressure plate you don't need to re install that? or will it hold until you press the clutch for the first time
Thanks, very clear and clever but outside my comfort zone. Fascinating watch. My clutch judders as clutch released from standstill. Any diagnosis please cyd
That's an indication the clutch is nearing the end of it's life. It could be the cover plate is worn or damaged and if the car has a DMF it could be that or any combination thereof.

Hi, I've just had a new cutch kit and DMF install on my Saab 93. A day later it started grinding a little when putting in 3rd gear. One time I couldn't get it in 1st. The bite point is very low and sometimes need to mash the pedal into the mat to make it go into gear easier. It's been a week since it was done and I can't take it back to the shop, plus he said it had no warranty as I supplied the parts. I bought the LUK clutch kit and LUK DMF OEM. Apparently the exact same manufacturer as the OE kit. If I pump the clutch it improves for a little while. Does it just need bleeding again of has he installed it incorrectly?
I just installed a Sachs self-adjusting pre-assembled kit, but after a test drive I noticed an oil leak from the oil seal behind the flywheel. So I have to get off the new clutch, but now the holes in the clutch disc and pressure plate no longer match the DMF screws, so I have to disassemble it. Since it's still new, does it need to be reset or can I simply put it back together as it hasn't worn out yet? Thanks in advance for the reply.
Hi sir After 30 min of driving is hard to get in and out of gear On cold evrithing is OK I changed gear oil still same problem Please what can be my problem? What part of the clutch is broken? Manual gerbox dual mass flywheel
J'ai un problème, j'ai comprimé le diaphragme du mecanisme avec l'outil sac , mais quand je le dévisse, le diaphragme reste bloqué. C'est quoi l'erreur que le mecanicien a fait, et si on peut réparer cela ?
i just reinstaled my clutch after changing the disc and i forgot to reset the pressure plate, i hope it works, i been told that if u dont reset it u might not be able to disengage from the flywheel
Excellent video sir, and I’m very glad that there is an alternative to purchasing the absurdly expensive Saab tool they have tried to sell me recently. I assume your an engineer - can I use a fly press to compress the pressure plate spring fingers? It should achieve the same principle as that if this video I would have hoped. Also - any advice for clutch replacement? I have a TTiD estate and I’m going to have a go myself. Is it a driveway job or ramps? Many thanks.
A fly press should do the job okay. Get an LUK DMF and clutch and do not forget to change the slave cylinder at the same time. Mine's in Malcolm Miles (Leicester) today for it's new clutch. I had a MTB accident that wrecked my left shoulder, so there is no way I could do this job myself. It is do-able on the drive, but the box is heavy and you have to drop the subframe right out! Hello, What will happen with car if we dont do reset and put it back. Please answer, because I think In my car I have problem with that because I think in mechanic servise they forgot to do that.
What is the problem you are getting? If the clutch plate is not reset, one can end up with a clutch that either won't release at all or struggles to release causing drag and making difficult gear changes.
I showed a 40 year old mechanic this he was clueless I think It is only usefull if you are refitting he wouldn't have it says he been fitting sac for 30 years 😃 till he fitted one then took it off again and fitted a flywheel had to show him again in the bearing press
Can u help me please I recently done a clutch duel mass on a toyota avensis new parts to my horror I read on the boxes that it needs to be pre loaded? As I didn't do this the biting point is pretty low but thats normal what shale I do surly it's pre loaded when made advise

How did you get the clutch out? Lol, if you did a video on that, I’d be forever grateful!
I'd love to, but see my other reply
When you mount the clutch is it necessary to do something or is it automatic?. Only with the centering ok?

I reset them right into the scrap bin. Non self adjusting pressure plates are far far less troublesome.
It is really super easy... I did it at night with only a mobile phone for light and a hydraulic 20T press from Aliexpress.

Google says that clutches can't be reset.
Why would u use spacers? With the tool u press against surface.
you can't put pressure on the wear surface while doing this procedure
